Chapter 226: Daniel’s Sudden Outburst

Chapter 226: Chapter 226: Daniel’s Sudden Outburst

"Kane might be scared. He looks pale. Ms. Walker is with him in the next room, trying to comfort him."

"What? And you didn’t tell me right away? Ashton, are you tired of working here?"

Daniel shot up from his seat and rushed out toward the next room.

"N-No, sir! I’m not!" Ashton stammered and startled by Daniel’s sudden outburst.

He was filled with regret as he thought about his mistake.

What was I thinking? Kane should’ve come first, not Ms. Nelsen!

Ashton scolded himself silently and hurried after Daniel.

Meanwhile, in the next room, Kane was having a great time. He sat on a pretty lady’s lap, happily sipping a cup of chocolate milk.

He looked completely relaxed and cheerful.

Daddy’s secretary, Ms. Walker, is really pretty and super nice. What I love most is how gentle she is with me. She’s like an angel.

A while ago, he screamed right outside the meeting room. Everyone ran out to see what was going on.

But only Ms. Walker paid attention to him. She stayed with him and even brought him a warm cup of milk.

"Kane, your face looks pale. Did something scare you? Don’t worry, I’ll take you to Mr. Wilson right now," she said.

Alice gently picked him up from the couch. As they walked out, she kept comforting him.

Just then, Daniel walked out of his office. The moment he saw Kane, he pulled him into a hug.

"Kane, are you okay?" he asked.

Kane didn’t say anything. He just looked at Daniel for a second, then tried to pull away.

It was clear he didn’t want Daniel to hold him.

Daniel felt a sting in his chest from Kane’s reaction.

"Kane, can you tell me what happened in the elevator?"

But Kane remained silent. He didn’t want to talk.

Kane was scared he might say something he shouldn’t. He was so mad at Daniel for always acting like a cheater.

So, he chose to copy Rai and stayed completely silent.

His silence made Daniel nervous.

"Kane, please talk to me. Just say something," Daniel tried to persuade him but Kane didn’t respond.

He pushed against Daniel’s chest, trying to get down.

Daniel felt heartbroken.

Without wasting time, he rushed to Silver Crest Global District with Kane in his arms.

Philip was jolted awake from his afternoon nap when they arrived.

"Daniel, I just scolded you a bit. You didn’t have to chase after me like this! Ugh, you scared me!"

Still half-asleep, he pulled a blanket over himself.

Daniel didn’t respond to that. Instead, he pointed at Kane.

"He’s really shaken up. Please, take a look at him!"

"H-Huh? Kane? Scared? What could possibly scare our little troublemaker?"

Philip quickly tossed the blanket aside and scooped Kane into his arms, looking confused and worried.

He rushed to the treatment room, holding Kane tightly.

Daniel looked at them go inside the treatment room and his heart was pounding hard.

His hands were also shaking.

He was scared—scared that Kane might end up like Rai, shutting everyone out because of trauma.

"Ashton, did you see anything on the surveillance? What really happened in the elevator?" Daniel asked in a gloomy and serious expression.

Ashton didn’t want to make Daniel angrier, so he stayed silent.

Then, he quickly went to get the elevator’s surveillance footage.

The recording didn’t show much—except for one thing. Camille suddenly curled in the corner and started screaming like crazy when Kane went near her to help.

That alone was enough to prove she scared Kane badly.

When Daniel saw it, his heart sank even more.

"What was Camille’s assistant doing back then? Isn’t Camille supposed to be injured? Why didn’t she stay home and rest? Why did she come to our company?"

"And what’s with the banner she’s wearing?"

"Sir, according to Ms. Nelsen’s assistant, she came to see you. Her wrist had already healed, but she wrapped it again just to get your attention." Ashton replied.

Ashton had sent someone to talk to Anthony right after the incident to find out what really happened.

At first, Anthony didn’t want to say anything. But when he heard Camille had fainted, he told the truth to stop things from getting worse.

"So Camille only came to get my attention. But she ended up losing self-control and scared Kane instead."

"This is what we’ve found so far," Ashton said carefully, picking his words.

"Go visit Camille as the Wilson family’s representative," Daniel ordered. "Ask her why she scared my son!"

"Yes, sir. I’ll head out right away."

Ashton followed Daniel’s order immediately.

Daniel’s blood boiled as he watched Ashton leave.

He had never corrected Camille for calling herself his fiancée. He thought she was just young and playing around. But now, after everything that happened, he realized she meant it.

Chantelle... were you hurt because I didn’t clear things up?

I should’ve stopped Camille right from the start, shouldn’t I?

This has to be the reason.

Camille had caused Kane’s trauma. And if Kane didn’t get better, Chantelle would never forgive him.

This was the first time Daniel felt really foolish.

His chest felt tight, and all he could do now was wait outside the treatment room. He hoped Philip could help Kane go back to normal. Right now, he needed a miracle.

Meanwhile, Thea took Chantelle to Cambria Bar. They parked the car and headed inside. Thea moved confidently like she had been there many times before.

The entrance was small, but the inside was wide and open.

Unlike Enchanteur Bar, Cambria Bar had a calm and laid-back vibe.

The place was decorated in an elegant style.

"Come on, Chantie, let’s get a drink. We’re not leaving until we’re both tipsy!"

"As long as it’s not too strong, I’m fine," Chantelle replied. She wasn’t in the mood, so she set the menu down without even glancing at it.

"I’ll just order for both of us then. Two Heavenly Ville cocktails, the bar’s special. Please send them along with everything else to our private room," Thea said without pushing her to decide.

"Got it, please wait a moment!" the bartender replied.

His hair was braided, and he looked like a foreigner. He shook the cocktail mixer, and the sound of the ice hitting the metal made Chantelle feel even more nervous.

She couldn’t stop thinking about how Camille proudly called herself Daniel’s fiancée.

The words felt like a curse stuck in her head.

"Chantie, why are you zoning out like that? Come on! I’ll show you something amazing!"

"H-Huh?"
