Chapter 225: Chapter 225: Don’t Let It Come Near Me
"I see, you really came to see my dad," Kane said with a soft smile. "Pretty Auntie, can you bring me with you? I can’t reach the elevator button."
He played with his fingers shyly and looked up at her.
Camille stared at him, and a wicked idea popped into her head. A kid this cute was hard to ignore. If I can’t win Daniel’s trust, I’ll just change my plan.
"Okay, sure. It’ll be easier to go in with you anyway. Let’s go." Camille agreed with a small smile.
I’ll give Daniel a little surprise, she thought. She was already planning something.
She had learned that Daniel let Kate stay because she was good with his son.
If Daniel sees his son likes me too, maybe he’ll start liking me more. Camille forced herself to tolerate the boy. She took Kane’s hand, and they entered the elevator together.
Kane grinned secretly. Step one was a success.
He carefully slipped his hand into his pocket to grab his phone.
Suddenly, the elevator lights started to blink.
A strange and creepy melody started playing out of nowhere.
The elevator kept moving, but the numbers on the screen turned negative.
It felt like they were no longer going up. It was like the elevator had turned into a ride straight to hell.
Camille was terrified. She wrapped her arms around herself, shaking all over.
She was so scared that she couldn’t even scream.
Kane suddenly grabbed the corner of her shirt.
Camille flinched. Cold sweat ran down her back as she shook.
"Pretty Auntie, are you okay? You don’t look so well," Kane asked softly, looking up at her with wide, innocent eyes.
"Don’t touch me! What’s going on? This place is haunted! There’s a ghost! A-Ah!"
She curled into the corner of the elevator and trembled in fear.
"W-Wait... you can see it too? It’s pulling your hair out. Does your scalp hurt?" Kane said with a serious face.
He was in full acting mode now, looking completely convincing.
"I-It? Where is it? Please, tell it to go away! Don’t let it come near me!" Camille cried out.
When she saw Kane staring straight ahead, her heart almost stopped.
Her scalp tingled, and she didn’t dare look around. She buried her head between her knees, shaking and panicking.
Kane saw how scared she was. She looked like she might start tearing at herself.
So, he began to play with her mind even more.
"Auntie, don’t be scared," Kane abruptly explained while looking into Camille’s scared face. "The ghost is actually very friendly. It only hates women who try to steal someone else’s husband. Other than that, it just likes to play with people’s hair. Once it’s done, it leaves on its own."
"But... if someone tries to steal another woman’s husband, that’s when it gets angry. It hates cheaters. When that happens, it bites them. And you know what? Those bitten women usually die the next morning, and no one knows why."
Kane kept talking, making things up to scare her even more.
He looked at Camille, thinking she might actually wet herself from fear. He leaned closer and gently patted her hand.
At the same time, he tapped his own phone to trigger a fake lightning flash and eerie sound.
"Auntie, we’re almost at the eightieth floor," he whispered.
"A-Ah!"
Camille was already scared out of her mind. When she saw the flash of lightning on Kane’s face, she thought she was in hell. She screamed and collapsed to the floor.
Ding! The elevator arrived at its floor.
Kane looked at her. She had passed out and even wet herself. He frowned, feeling disappointed.
"Pretty Auntie, you’re such a coward. And you still dare to fight my mom over a man? You really don’t know your place," he muttered.
He pressed the stop button on the elevator, then jogged out with a sigh.
Soon, he reached the meeting room entrance.
"Someone help, please! There’s a pretty auntie who fainted in the elevator!" Kane shouted, sounding worried.
His voice got the attention of the workers who were in a meeting nearby.
A group of them quickly came out and surrounded Camille.
However, no one knew who she was. They just stood around, covering their noses because of the smell. No one wanted to help her.
Still, someone called an ambulance out of basic concern.
It wasn’t every day that a beautiful woman fainted at the Wilson Group, and soaked in her own pee.
Above Camille, a big banner hung from the ceiling.
It read, "I’m a cheater; I’ve sinned."
Was she trying to drown in her own pee?
No one had ever seen anything like it before.
It was downright disgusting.
Meanwhile, Daniel was busy searching online for ways to appease his wife’s anger.
There were so many tips online. Daniel read through all of them and even took notes.
He told Ashton to go buy some durian and a washboard from the store.
The noise outside his office kept getting louder. It was starting to get on his nerves.
He felt like shouting at whoever was causing the noise, but instead, he grabbed his phone and called Ashton.
"Ashton, what’s going on out there?" he asked the moment the call went through as he couldn’t focus anymore.
"E-Erm... Sir, Ms. Nelsen fainted in the elevator."
"Then send her to the hospital. Why are people making a big deal out of it?" Daniel said with a frown before hanging up.
Ashton made sure Camille was taken away by the medical team, then quickly rushed to Daniel’s office.
He paused to take a deep breath before walking in.
"Sir, she’s already at the hospital. I asked Ms. Clark to stay with her and keep me updated. But this wasn’t just some simple fainting. I took a few photos; you need to see this."
Daniel took the phone from him and looked at the pictures.
"What is this supposed to be?" he asked as his eyes narrowed.
"We’re not sure what happened. Ms. Nelsen was supposed to come up with her assistant. But she ran into Kane, and they ended up in the elevator together. No one knows what happened inside. Kane ran out to call for help when the elevator stopped."
"Kane’s here? Where is he?"
