Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback
Chapter 217: You’re The Chairman?

Chapter 217: Chapter 217: You’re The Chairman?

Chantelle didn’t expect him to barge in and grab the documents away from her hands.

In the process, a few sharp paper edges left small cuts on her fingers.

Her hand stung, and just like that, her mood turned sour.

"What am I trying to do? I’m trying to show everyone what you’ve done wrong. You used shortcuts to get ahead in the selection. I’m going to reveal your dirty secret."

"Oh really? Then tell me, what were you and your so-called ’honorable’ lady doing just now?"

"Ms. Nelsen came here to submit her application. She would never stoop to cheating like you."

"Is that so? The participant booklet clearly says that candidates are only invited for interviews after passing the first round. No one’s allowed to meet the judges before that. I’m sure Ms. Nelsen read that too. You tried to bend the rules and failed. And now you’re accusing Professor Cox and the association? That’s a bold move!"

Chantelle’s expression turned cold as she stared at Anthony without holding back.

Anthony only wanted to defend Ms. Nelsen. He didn’t expect to run into someone like Chantelle. If they ended up getting blamed for cheating and damaging Ms. Nelsen’s name, it would be a disaster for him.

If that happened, he’d be useless to Ms. Nelsen.

"You bitch! How dare you insult Ms. Nelsen? Someone like you needs to be taught a lesson!"

"Anthony, Professor Cox is still here. Watch your words." Camille had been listening from outside.

When she saw the situation getting worse, she quickly intervened. She thought Anthony’s outburst would scare them into backing off and would treat her with respect.

But things didn’t go the way she hoped. The conversation led to something she never expected.

How could they just admit they were actually trying to cheat?

There was nothing honorable about that.

"Ms. Nelsen, they’re all ganging up on us!" Anthony quickly turned to Camille when he saw her step in. He acted like he was the one being treated unfairly.

"We just came to submit our application. We didn’t know about the rules in the booklet. That’s our fault. But isn’t this lady doing the same thing?" Camille hurled clear insulting words, yet she kept her calm and elegant appearance.

She didn’t want anyone to think she had used underhanded methods.

Still, she couldn’t understand how Chantelle could stay so calm and sat next to Professor Cox like she really belonged there.

The sight slowly irritated her, pushing her to speak up.

The woman in front of her was stunning. Even in a plain T-shirt and jeans, she still stood out.

The moment Camille saw her, she knew Chantelle wasn’t just any woman. Her beauty was striking, and Camille couldn’t help but feel a little jealous.

That jealousy made her doubt Chantelle. Maybe she had used dirty tricks too. If that were true, Camille thought she could use it to her advantage.

But just as she fell silent, Anthony, her clumsy assistant, suddenly jumped in and blurted out, "She’s right! Professor Cox, if you’re willing to accept people who cheat, then why not Ms. Nelsen? You should know she’s from the Nelsen family. Once she decides to use her connections, there’s no way she can’t get what she wants!"

When Anthony heard Camille confront Chantelle, he assumed she was upset that Chantelle had skipped the usual process.

He didn’t think twice and said what was on his mind.

Chantelle couldn’t hold back her laughter when she heard him.

"Professor Cox, do people really cheat openly like this and still act proud?" Chantelle shook her head, looking amused and disappointed. She glanced at Ms. Nelsen, who looked pale and embarrassed after hearing what her assistant said.

"This is just crazy. Everything feels so wrong right now. Chairman, you need to take action against this kind of behavior. We can’t let people with shady motives drag the Charity Association’s name through the mud!"

Professor Cox looked at them sharply. He didn’t hold back from pointing out their wrongs.

He had been teaching for years, and he hated dishonesty the most.

He never thought he’d see something like this, especially right after becoming a judge in the association. It made him feel like people no longer cared about values.

"Yes, I completely agree with you, Professor," Chantelle said seriously.

"Chairman? What do you mean?" Anthony finally realized he had said too much. Hearing that title made him shocked so he quickly asked.

"This is Ms. Chantelle. She’s the chairman of the Global Philanthropy Committee," Calvin said with full respect, letting everyone know who she really was.

When Camille heard that, it felt like she’d been hit by a truck.

She almost lost her balance and would have fallen if Chantelle hadn’t caught her in time.

But when Camille looked up again, her calm face was gone.

Now, her eyes were filled with anger, like she wanted to tear Chantelle apart.

"You’re the chairman? So you were just pretending with Professor Cox? You made it look like we were cheating? That’s some performance. But tell me, what do you gain by picking a fight with the Nelsen family?"

Chantelle didn’t expect Camille to be this good at shifting the blame.

Even worse, why did it feel like Ms. Nelsen was using the Nelsen family name to threaten her?

Chantelle couldn’t stand being threatened.

Her face suddenly turned cold.

"Ms. Nelsen, you’re talking like we forced you to cheat. But you’re the one who broke the rules by showing up here and trying to meet the judges in secret. Now that we’ve caught you, how is it our fault?"

"As for the Nelsen family, I believe a family with such a strong legacy should have its own rules and values. But if the Nelsen family keeps using shady methods like this, then maybe the Charity Association isn’t the right group for you to work with."

"Are you threatening me?" Camille lamented sharply. She knew her older brother had applied to the Global Philanthropy Association just to help her career in Easthan.

If he got rejected because of her, it would be a disaster.

The Nelsen family couldn’t afford that kind of shame.

"Of course not. I’m just telling the truth," Chantelle said in a calm voice.

But deep down, her eyes held a cold, cutting look.

"You!" Camille was so angry she felt like she might burst.

But before she could say anything else, Chantelle had already turned her back and walked away. She didn’t even bother to look at her.

"Calvin, the surveillance camera is working well, right? Everything got recorded?"
