Chapter 216: What Do You Think You’re Doing?

Chapter 216: Chapter 216: What Do You Think You’re Doing?

"Are you Camille?" Professor Cox asked.

"Yes," she answered with a small nod.

"I see. Just leave your application there. You can go now," Professor Cox said flatly.

He wasn’t interested in being polite.

The selection was still in its early stages. There was no need for any face-to-face meetings yet.

Anyone who didn’t follow the rules would only make him annoyed.

It didn’t matter if Camille was from the Nelsen family. Even if a king showed up, Professor Cox would still ask him to leave.

"You old geezer," Anthony retorted in a sharp tone. "Looks like you don’t understand kindness. Maybe a tougher approach will work better on you."

"Anthony," Camille warned him. "Professor Cox is much more senior than us. Watch your behavior. Step back now."

"Yes, Ms. Camille," Anthony nodded and stepped back swiftly.

Camille turned to Professor Cox.

"I came here in person to explain my situation," she said gently. "It’s for the judging panel’s convenience, so the association can decide quickly on the Ambassador for Philanthropy of Easthan. I hope you’ll consider giving me a chance."

She then walked over to him, stopped right in front of his desk, and bowed respectfully.

She was humble and carried herself gracefully.

Professor Cox looked at her and replied, "Our selection process is always open and fair. Coming here like this to push your chance goes against our rules. I hope you understand that and cooperate with us properly."

He paused, then added, "Besides, if you’re really qualified, no one can take away what’s meant for you."

"Professor Cox..." Camille uttered gently.

She didn’t expect to meet someone who wouldn’t bow to the Nelsen name.

She wanted to say more, but Professor Cox had already turned his back on her.

Being ignored like that made her feel humiliated.

Still, she kept her cool. She turned around and walked out of the meeting room, silently holding back her anger.

As Camille walked outside, Chantelle finally got a clear look at her.

Her face was delicate. Her lips were soft and well-shaped.

She had the body of a model, dressed in a fitted white gown.

A rare, stylish diamond belt wrapped around her waist, adding a final touch.

She looked more elegant than most of those noble women in Easthan.

Chantelle had a soft spot for beautiful women.

Even if Camille acted a little arrogant, her looks alone made it easy for Chantelle to forgive her.

Camille walked out with a gloomy face. She led her group to the elevator and it looked like they were about to leave.

Chantelle stopped paying attention to them and used the moment to enter the meeting room.

It was time to get to work.

Professor Cox was one of the few people who knew who Chantelle really was.

When he saw her at the door, he came over and greeted her with a warm smile.

"Hey, you’re finally here, Chantie. I know you’ve been waiting for this day," Professor Cox said with a smile.

"Sorry I’m late, Professor Cox. Thank you for your hard work," Chantelle replied politely.

"What are you saying, my dear? No need to be so formal with me. Come in, come in!" he said cheerfully.

As luck would have it, those warm words were overheard by the group still waiting in the elevator.

After hearing Professor Cox’s words, Camille’s face turned even somber.

Ever since Camille was officially recognized as the only daughter of the Nelsen family, no one had ever dared to look down on her.

Now, she couldn’t believe she was being outshined by some unknown woman.

It was insulting. Completely unacceptable.

Standing beside her, Anthony could feel her mood shift.

He quickly turned around and lamented in a sharp tone, "Professor Cox, is this how you treat guests? Ms. Nelsen came here herself to show sincerity and submit her application, yet you told her to leave. But now you’re welcoming someone else warmly for doing the same thing?"

He narrowed his eyes and then added, "Are you insinuating that the ambassador award is already given to a particular person by the association?"

Anthony thought he had caught the professor doing shady things and he planned to use it as proof they were treated unfairly.

Before coming here, they had checked the list of board members in the Charity Association.

The only person they didn’t know was the mysterious chairman.

They thought they knew the rest well.

"I didn’t expect someone like you, Professor Cox, known for being fair and honest, to play dirty too," Anthony said coldly. "What if the public finds out? What would happen to your perfect reputation?"

He had walked back to the door and caught sight of Professor Cox pulling out a chair for Chantelle.

He can’t hold his anger anymore after seeing the scene.

"Who are you?" Professor Cox asked, finally noticing him. "Are you here to submit an application too, young man?"

He had been focused on Chantelle and hadn’t noticed Anthony until now.

Professor Cox’s eyesight was poor, so he only saw a vague figure standing at the door, hands on his hips. The person’s voice sounded feminine, so he didn’t think much of it and asked what he wanted.

"Pfft!" Chantelle couldn’t help but laugh.

"What are you laughing at, woman? I’m talking to you! You’re clearly using the backdoor, acting like you’re someone special. I’ll take a photo and expose all your shady tricks!"

Fuming, Anthony pulled out his phone and was ready to take a picture.

"Ms. Chantelle, Ms. Nelsen’s assistant is overstepping," Calvin quickly intervened as he was clearly annoyed by Anthony’s behavior. "I’ll have the security escort him out."

"It’s fine," Chantelle said, calming him down. "Let him take his picture if he wants. Professor Cox, please give me a copy of the nominees’ information. I’d like to take a look."

Chantelle had no plans to waste her energy on someone like Anthony.

Once she sat down, she focused on her work, just like Professor Cox.

Meanwhile, Anthony was recording everything with his phone.

When he saw Professor Cox hand all the documents to Chantelle including Camille’s application, he became aggressive.

His face twisted in anger. He stormed over and snatched the documents away from Chantelle’s hands.

"Don’t you dare lay your dirty hands on Ms. Nelsen’s information!" he shouted.

"Hey, what do you think you’re doing?" Chantelle asked sharply.

At first, she wanted to keep the peace.

She thought it was just a misunderstanding.

People like Anthony, who worked for big families, often acted this way.

She didn’t want to make things worse.

But this time, Anthony really crossed the line.
