Chapter 215: They’re The VIP’s
Chapter 215: Chapter 215: They’re The VIP’s
"Joseph? He applied too, to become our member?!"
"That’s right," Calvin said. "And Joseph meets all the requirements. It’ll be hard to reject him."
All the applications had been screened by all association members.
Even though Chantelle was the chairman, she couldn’t just block someone without a valid reason.
Doing that would make it seem like she was abusing her position.
"But why reject him anyway?" she said with a spark in her voice. "If he wants to get into charity, we should support that!"
It was clear she was actually excited.
Joseph looked like he had money.
Since he wanted to get into charity, Chantelle wouldn’t let this golden chance slip away.
She can squeeze some donations from him, then use that money to build a few primary schools for kids in the mountains.
Calvin drove fast, and before long, they reached the Charity Association office.
When Chantelle stepped out of the car, she was stunned.
A long red carpet stretched from the entrance, covered with fresh flowers on both sides.
The sweet scent filled the air.
If Chantelle didn’t know this was the association’s office, she would’ve thought a wedding was happening inside.
"Calvin, looks like someone important showed up at the association. Let’s go check it out."
"Yes, Ms. Chantelle." Calvin was also confused like her.
The judges were only supposed to have a meeting today to talk about the nominees.
It was supposed to be a normal day. He hadn’t heard anything about an important event today.
Chantelle quickened her pace and entered the elevator.
Inside the elevator, it was also filled with beautiful decorations.
Flowers were placed around the buttons, and a red carpet stretched into the elevator.
With a setup like that, there was no way she could miss the right floor.
She followed the path straight to the office.
Just as Chantelle was about to enter her office, someone suddenly pulled her aside.
She nearly lost her balance.
Right after that, she saw a soft-looking man standing protectively in front of a woman with a royal presence.
Several bodyguards followed behind them as they walked into the office.
"Didn’t you see Ms. Nelsen is here? Step aside, please!" the man snapped at her.
"Ms. Chantelle, are you okay?" Calvin quickly moved to her side and helped her regain her balance.
"I’m fine," she mumbled calmly. "They’re the VIPs. We should give them space."
Chantelle watched the group silently and made a neutral comment under her breath.
Inside the association office, Camille walked in with Anthony and a team of bodyguards around her.
She glanced around the room, then confidently took a seat—in front of the main chair at the meeting table.
As soon as she sat down, Professor Cox, who was looking through some files, frowned.
"Who do you think you are?" he asked coldly. "This is the meeting room of the Charity Association. We’re about to start an important selection process. If you don’t have any real business here, I suggest you leave. Don’t make a scene."
Robert Cox, now sixty, was a professor at the University of Easthan and also served as the head of the association.
Even though he only held a part-time role in the association, Professor Cox was highly respected.
He was known for his deep knowledge and for producing top students over the years.
Many powerful figures in the business world had once been his students.
No matter their title in the association, they still greeted him warmly as "Professor Cox."
That simple gesture showed the kind of respect he commanded.
He had been specially invited by the management to join the judging panel.
He was told to meet with the chairman to discuss the nominees.
No one mentioned anything about meeting guests.
So when this unfamiliar group walked in unannounced, it was no surprise he got irritated.
Anthony fired back with sharp words right away. "This important lady is Ms. Camille Nelsen from the Nelsen family. Who do you think you are? Watch your words!"
He was already upset that no one welcomed them when they arrived—no receptionist, no staff.
So when Professor Cox started scolding them, he couldn’t take it anymore.
"Ms. Nelsen?" Professor Cox raised an eyebrow. "This is the Charity Association office. We’re here to work. I don’t know anyone by that title."
Professor Cox adjusted his glasses, but he didn’t spare Camille a single glance.
He gave his final word and told them to leave.
"What kind of comment is that? Ms. Nelsen came here in person to submit her documents. We did this out of respect for you. Do you really think we’d come all this way if we didn’t have to?"
Anthony couldn’t stand Professor Cox’s tone so he shot back without remorse, clearly annoyed.
Without holding his resentment, he quickly revealed the reason for their sudden appearance.
"You should’ve gone to the informatics department for that," Professor Cox replied. "Why are you in the meeting room?"
He paused and looked at them sharply.
"This room is for final selection work. And now, here you are—right when we’re about to start. Don’t expect me to ignore that. It’s pretty obvious what you’re trying to do. Do I really need to spell it out?"
Professor Cox might have been old-fashioned, but his mind was sharp.
Since they didn’t plan to back down, he finally looked up from his files and turned his eyes to the elegant woman sitting across from him.
There was a sharp, commanding look in Professor Cox’s eyes.
He had been a teacher all his life. He had seen all kinds of people, so he could read them easily.
The moment Camille and her group entered the room, he knew what they were after.
They had come to poke around just before the selection process started.
He didn’t like people who played games like this.
Since his warning didn’t work and they refused to leave, he had no choice but to say it plainly.
"You old bastard..." Anthony shot back harshly, realizing the professor had figured them out.
But before he could go further, Camille cut in.
"Anthony, watch your mouth."
It was the first time she opened her mouth since entering the room.
Chantelle stood off to the side with Calvin, watching everything unfold.
They couldn’t get any closer as Camille’s bodyguards had blocked the way.
The moment Camille talked, Chantelle noticed something right away.
This woman from a powerful family carried herself differently. Her voice was calm and gentle.
"You must be Professor Cox from this association, right?" Camille said politely. "I’ve heard a lot about you. You’re known for being strict and principled. My team isn’t familiar with how things work here. I hope you won’t be too upset with them."
