Chapter 211: That Felt Amazing!
Chapter 211: Chapter 211: That Felt Amazing!
Western Hill Villa.
Daniel lay in the bathtub, and the icy water was helping a little to cool him down.
But the wound was soaked, and he could feel it might have opened again. His body burned with heat.
It felt like a fire was spreading his entire body.
His head throbbed, and soon, a fever started to kick in.
The dryness in his throat was driving him crazy.
After Philip called, he tossed the phone to the floor and slipped into the tub, hoping the cold water would help him calm down.
Just as he finally felt a bit calm, he heard the door open.
Before he could move, Chantelle appeared, holding a pillow in her arms.
Her eyes looked distant like she was... sleepwalking.
"Chantie!"
Daniel suddenly realized that Chantelle was sleepwalking.
Before he could stop her, she stepped right into the bathtub, still holding the pillow.
Daniel instantly froze.
He always thought Chantelle only sleepwalked inside her room.
He never expected her to end up here.
Seeing Chantelle lie down in the ice water, Daniel quickly sat up and pulled her out.
He moved fast, but her clothes were already soaked.
Worried she might catch a cold, he grabbed a bath towel nearby, wrapped her up, and carried her to the bed.
He found some dry clothes to help her change, then tucked her in under the covers.
"You little rascal... are you trying to seduce me right now?" he muttered, half amused, half helpless.
To stay in control, Daniel took off his clothes but didn’t get under the covers.
He let the cold sink into his body, trying to keep himself awake.
Chantelle, still affected by the icy water, was shivering nonstop. Her small face was scrunched up, clearly uncomfortable.
Daniel couldn’t stand seeing her like that. He got up, turned up the heat, and grabbed an extra blanket to keep her warm.
Just as he finished, he heard Philip’s voice yelling from downstairs.
"Daniel, I’m here to save you!"
Daniel let out a tired sigh and walked out of the bedroom.
He didn’t want Philip bursting in and waking Chantelle. She’d definitely be upset if that happened.
Halfway down the stairs, he ran into Philip.
"Daniel, why do you look so pale? Wait—your wound’s bleeding!" Philip panicked and rushed to support him, holding him like he might break at any moment.
Daniel wasn’t in the mood to talk. Since they were already upstairs, he simply led Philip toward Chantelle’s room.
"Daniel, why are you dragging me into Chantie’s room? It’s the middle of the night. Isn’t this a bit inappropriate?" Philip asked, feeling embarrassed.
"Cut it out. She’s not here. We’ll only stay for a while," Daniel said as he dragged him inside and closed the door behind them.
"She’s not here? Did she go out? And you’re fine with her being out at this hour? Wait—if she’s not here, then why do you look so drained? Like you’ve been... busy all night?" Philip narrowed his eyes, clearly suspicious.
"Shut your mouth. This is all your fault!" Daniel glared at him. He could see Philip was already imagining things, and he had to fight the urge to strangle him on the spot.
"Okay, okay! Calm down. Watch that wound of yours," Philip said quickly, holding his hands up.
Philip bent down and held Daniel’s legs like he always did when trying to calm him down.
Once he saw that Daniel had cooled off and wasn’t about to hit him, he gently lifted part of Daniel’s shirt to check the wound.
Just as he feared, the bleeding hadn’t stopped. Since Daniel had stayed in water too long, there was a big chance the wound might get infected.
If the ointment Philip used earlier wasn’t strong enough, things could’ve gotten even worse by now.
Thankfully, the wound didn’t get infected.
The real issue was the Blood Pill Daniel took. It boosted his blood flow, which likely caused the bleeding.
"Daniel, this is my fault," Philip said while cleaning the wound. "I thought you had... a bit of a problem with your waist, so I made the pill to help with that. I didn’t expect your wound to open up even without Chantie involved..."
He kept muttering apologies as he worked.
"I don’t have any problem with my waist!" Daniel gritted his teeth. He didn’t want to blame Philip too much, but once his waist was mentioned, he couldn’t let it slide.
"Okay, okay, your waist is fine. I believe you," Philip quickly said, trying to calm him down.
"Don’t ever let me hear you say that again."
"Daniel, you know what they say—people only get this worked up when their secret gets exposed."
"Philip, do you still want to be alive tomorrow?"
"No, no! That’s not what I meant. I’m just looking out for you. You haven’t touched a single woman all these years without Chantie around. I was just worried you’d... lose that ability!"
"Philip!"
"Okay, okay, I’ll shut up now! But think about it—Kate’s been around you for years, always trying to get into your bed again and again. You never even get seduced. Does Chantie know about that?"
"She doesn’t need to know about that," Daniel said, brushing off Philip’s words.
"How can you be so sure?" Philip asked. "Don’t you know women care about loyalty more than anything? Forget the rumors about you and Kate—just the fact that she’s been around you for years is enough to make anyone think twice."
Philip kept poking into Daniel’s private life.
But he wasn’t just being nosy. He was also trying to keep Daniel distracted.
There was a real chance the wound could get worse. The only thing Philip could do now was clean it and apply more ointment. The pain from this kind of wound was sharp and most people wouldn’t be able to take it.
"What if Chantie starts liking another man? You’re telling me you’d just sit there and do nothing?" Philip said as he worked.
Daniel went quiet.
Would he really stay calm if that ever happened?
Of course not. He would care. A lot.
What really bothered him was the thought of Chantelle falling for someone else.
"I was just saying. Don’t take it seriously," Philip said awkwardly.
"I won’t really mind."
"What?"
"I’ve thought about it," Daniel said. "I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t bother me if she ends up with someone else. But if we ever get back together and she still has feelings for another man, that would be my fault. I have no right to be upset about it."
He answered Philip’s question like he was solving a test problem—calmly, clearly, and with no hesitation.
