Chapter 196: Don’t You Touch My Man!

Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Don’t You Touch My Man!

Meanwhile, outside Enchanteur Bar, Joseph stormed back to the parking lot in anger.

Fred quietly followed behind him.

Fred had served Joseph for years and knew he hated anyone bringing up his family background. But Daniel had gone straight for that sore spot.

Fred still remembered how close the two young masters once were. It was hard to believe things had turned out into a huge conflict.

Fred snapped out of his thoughts when they reached the car. He quickly opened the door for Joseph. Once Joseph got in, Fred ran to the driver’s seat.

"Sir, are we going back to the castle now?"

"Go to—"

Ding dong! Beep beep!

Just as Joseph was about to speak, his phone rang. But before he could check it, a strange ticking sound filled inside the car like a timer or a clock.

"Fred, get out!" Joseph shouted.

A loud explosion followed right after Joseph’s warning.

He threw himself forward, trying to escape the blast. The heat scorched the air behind him.

When he stood up, he saw the car engulfed in flames. In just minutes, it turned to a burned metal frame.

Joseph stood still, staring at the wreck. His chest burned with rage, and anger filled his eyes.

Meanwhile, the blast had thrown Fred several feet away. His arm was injured, but he ignored the pain and rushed over.

"Sir, are you okay? Did you get hurt?"

"I’m fine. Just some dirt on my clothes."

Joseph noticed Fred’s injury and frowned, but said nothing.

Ding dong!

His phone buzzed again. Annoyed, he pulled it out and checked the screen.

A message flashed from an unknown number.

"Don’t you touch my man!"

Joseph stared at the message on his phone. Slowly, a crooked smile appeared on his gloomy face.

"Hahaha, what a woman! She’s really something," he muttered, chuckling like he was suddenly in a great mood.

Fred stood nearby and felt anxious seeing Joseph’s reaction.

"I’m sorry, Sir. I didn’t notice someone planted a bomb in the car," he said in a shaking voice.

Joseph waved his hand. "Let it go. Chantie’s pretty clever. It’s hard to notice what she did."

Fred lowered his head, accepting his mistake. But Joseph didn’t get mad. He was in a good mood and only seemed concerned about Fred’s condition.

Noticing Fred’s injury, he urged him, "You’re hurt. Go get yourself checked at the nearest hospital."

"It’s nothing, Sir. Just a small scratch. I’ll be fine," Fred instantly refused.

"Just do what I said!" Joseph barked as his expression turned cold and sharp.

"Yes, Sir."

Later that evening, Chantelle soaked in a bubble bath.

Since Lone Wolf had entered her bathroom earlier, she made sure Russell brought a team to disinfect and check everything before she came back to Western Hill Villa.

The place was clean, but the disinfectant smell was too strong. She had to use a lot of fragrance to cover it up.

Now, she was lying in the tub, scrolling through her phone.

Calvin had sent her a photo taken outside Enchanteur Bar.

Seeing Joseph’s furious expression in the picture, she giggled and gave Calvin a thumbs-up. "Nice work!"

Calvin looked for a quiet corner and called her. "Ms. Chantelle, Joseph looked furious. He won’t let this go. I’ve already increased the security around the villa. But when I sent out our men, I saw Mr. Wilson’s people nearby. They outnumber us..."

"Since the Wilson family’s bodyguards are around, pull some of our people back. We don’t want to draw attention," After giving it some thought, Chantelle decided it was safer to stay low-key for now.

"Got it, Ms. Chantelle."

"And one more thing. Joseph and Kate seem connected. Look into it. See if you can find anything."

If they were really connected with each other, Joseph might also be tied to Old Mr. Wilson’s death.

Chantelle planned to dig into Joseph’s background too. But the person who probably knew Joseph more than anyone else was Daniel.

She couldn’t stop wondering what he meant when he said, "It’s not the time yet," on their way back home.

She drifted away as she gave Calvin a few more instructions.

Then, she ended the call and leaned back in the tub, ready to enjoy her bath.

She was about to watch a drama when she suddenly heard a noise in the room. Someone had broken in.

Chantelle sat up immediately. She grabbed her bathrobe and slipped it on.

She moved quietly and crept toward the bathroom door. Pressing her ear against it, she tried to catch any sound from outside.

But after waiting a moment, everything outside had gone silent.

Did I just imagine it? Chantelle frowned in confusion and slowly turned the door handle.

She peeked out the door but no one was there.

She let out a breath. Maybe it was just a product of my imagination.

Feeling comfortable, Chantelle headed to the cloakroom.

After changing into her pajamas, she turned off the light and got into bed.

But the moment she lay down, someone beside her suddenly turned and pulled her into an embrace. Warm breath brushed against her skin.

"Ah!" she gasped in shock.

"Hey, don’t make a sound. I just want to hold you..." he murmured.

"Daniel?"

Chantelle instantly recognized his voice and familiar scent. Her brows furrowed.

What is he doing? Is he trying to take advantage of me?

"Daniel, what are you doing in my bed? Let go of me..."

But she kept squirming in his arms, and Daniel’s body started to heat up from the friction of their bodies.

"Don’t move. If you do, I won’t be able to hold back anymore."

"Uh... Calm down... We can talk about this, okay? But can you let go of me first?" Realizing something was off with Daniel, Chantelle stayed still and didn’t dare move again.

"My head hurts. I can’t sleep alone. Please don’t push me away," Daniel mumbled weakly, sounding a little pitiful.

Chantelle shifted slightly and reached out to touch his forehead. The scab was still there and it felt rough under her fingers.

"Your head hurts? Wait—oh no, you’ve got a fever! Did your wound reopen?" She had planned to kick him out, but the heat from his skin made her panic a little.

Daniel didn’t answer. Instead, he pulled her even closer.

"Daniel?"

"I’m fine. I’ll feel better after holding you for a while."

"Are you sure?"

"If you don’t believe me, you can test it yourself."
