Chapter 195: Was Daniel Really Falling For Me Now?

Chapter 195: Chapter 195: Was Daniel Really Falling For Me Now?

Before Joseph could respond, Daniel wrapped his arm around Chantelle’s waist and guided her downstairs.

Chantelle felt overwhelmed. Everything she just heard left her stunned.

What kind of shocking news was that?!

She had no clue Joseph was Daniel’s brother.

She opened her mouth to speak but stopped when she saw Daniel’s face turn serious.

Once they were back in the car outside the bar, Daniel sat beside her and glanced her way. He could tell she was dying to ask questions.

"Go ahead, ask."

"Haha, no questions from me. Every family has secrets, and I’m not curious at all." Chantelle felt a bit embarrassed that Daniel caught her.

Her cheeks turned red.

"Thanks for the blazer."

Trying to break the awkward moment, Chantelle took it off and held it out to give it back to him.

But Daniel didn’t take the blazer. Instead, he tilted his head and looked at her with a teasing smile. It made her blush even more.

"Whatever. If you don’t want to say anything, that’s fine. But don’t look at me like that. It makes me feel guilty for being nosy..." Chantelle turned away with a playful smile.

Her words seemed to lift his mood and his face looked more relaxed than earlier.

He picked up the blazer she had handed back and gently draped it over her long legs.

"It’s getting cold. Cover yourself. Or you’ll end up with arthritis when you’re old. Got it?"

He kept nagging while tucking the blazer around her legs.

The car had a heater, but his gesture made Chantelle feel even warmer inside.

"I didn’t mean to hide things about Joseph from you. When the time is right, I’ll tell you everything. Just remember he’s dangerous. Please stay away from him." Daniel looked at her gently while he warned her.

Chantelle couldn’t find a reason to say no.

"Okay, if that’s how it is, I won’t ask anymore," she said. But her eyes showed she still wanted to know the truth.

Daniel’s love and care were what she had longed for six years ago.

Now that she finally had it, it didn’t feel real.

And the fact that he was the one who fell for her first made it even harder to believe.

But deep down, a small part of her still felt sad.

Was Daniel really falling for me now?

But what about Chantelle?

She had promised herself never to love him again.

It took her six long years to move on...

Even when Daniel asked Ashton to drive them back to Western Hill Villa, Chantelle still felt dizzy. Her mind was tired, and she slowly drifted off to sleep in the car.

When Daniel noticed she had fallen asleep, he leaned over and let her rest in his arms.

Chantelle later woke up and saw they had already arrived.

Daniel was still hugging her and drifted to sleep too. Under the moonlight, his lashes looked long and soft, like the doll she once loved as a child.

She reached out gently to touch them, but just as her fingers brushed his face, Daniel’s eyes fluttered open.

"Oh, you’re awake. We’re here now. Let’s go."

Chantelle quickly pulled her hand back, embarrassed, and rushed out of the car.

Daniel stretched his numb arm and sat up.

Pain shot through his side from the wound, but he still stepped out of the car. He smiled when he saw Chantelle hurrying into the house and hurriedly followed her.

As soon as Chantelle entered the villa, she felt something was different.

She saw luggage stacked neatly in the living room.

Mr. Charles was in the open kitchen, busy with the other servants. The smell of food filled the air, making her feel hungry.

At the table, Kane was sitting down, happily eating an egg tart.

"Hm, looks like Mr. Charles already prepared dinner. You must be starving. Want to eat together?" Daniel said as he walked in.

"Uh... yeah, I’m hungry. But can you explain this?" Chantelle pointed at the pile of luggage in front of them.

"Oh, that? I told Mr. Charles to bring it here. Since most of my property now belongs to you, I’m broke and need to rely on you from now on."

"What?" Chantelle blurted out. She did take the ownership papers, but she didn’t expect this sudden surprise.

"Don’t worry, Ms. Chantelle. I still own a successful company. I can give you a life of luxury," Daniel said with a wide smile on his lips.

Chantelle was at a loss for words.

She was too angry to speak, knowing Daniel had tricked her again.

"I never agreed to this!" she said, gritting her teeth.

"I know. That’s why I gave everything to you willingly." Daniel said seriously, and Chantelle was stunned by his bold statement.

"I didn’t..."

Before she could finish, Kane jumped in, "Mommy, you’re back! Try this egg tart Mr. Charles made. It’s so yummy!"

Kane hopped off his chair and ran to her. He was so happy to taste Mr. Charles’s egg tarts and couldn’t wait to share one with her.

Chantelle’s heart softened. Her son had been thinking of her. She bent down and hugged him tightly.

Fine. I’ll deal with Daniel later when I get the chance.

"Welcome back, Mrs. Wilson," Charles said politely. "Dinner is ready."

"Thank you, Mr. Charles."

"You’re welcome, Mrs. Wilson. If you need anything, just let me know," Charles replied warmly, still speaking with respect.

He was excited to learn that Chantelle was now the young mistress of the Wilson family and the mother of Daniel’s children.

While waiting for her to return, he took the chance to prepare a big meal.

"I’ll be counting on you then, Mr. Charles."

"Of course. It’s our job to keep the young mistress happy and healthy," he said with a smile, guiding Chantelle to the dining room.

He completely ignored Daniel, who stood off to the side.

Chantelle felt a bit awkward at first, but when she saw all her favorite dishes on the table, her stomach growled.

"Thank you, Mr. Charles. I’ll enjoy every bite."

After a long day, it felt good to be welcomed with such a nice meal.

Just as Chantelle was about to dig in, she noticed her favorite—sweet braised pork ribs—right in front of her.

"Careful, it’s hot," Daniel reminded her gently.

"How did you know this is my favorite? It looks like all these dishes were made just for me."

"Chantelle, what if I told you... I remembered everything you ever told me?"
