Chapter 188: I’m Calling The Police

Chapter 188: Chapter 188: I’m Calling The Police

Ethan turned to Roman and gave him a sharp glare, completely sure he had been fooled.

However, Ethan felt relieved.

If he had bought the house, he could have lost over a billion. The thought made his stomach turn.

"Hey, I’m really sorry. I don’t know what’s going on with scammers these days," Russell said as he stepped forward. "They just break into houses and try to sell them like they own the place."

"Good thing I didn’t give him any money," Ethan said, still shaken. "I could’ve lost everything. But this is Easthan—how does something like this even occur? I’m calling the police."

He looked at Roman in fear and quickly pulled out his phone.

Roman reached out to stop him, but Russell quickly interfered and blocked him.

"Mr. White, please don’t call the police! This is all just a misunderstanding!" Roman pleaded.

"Misunderstanding? Do I look like a fool to you?" Ethan shot back in annoyance. "This young man here has the property title. He’s the real owner. And you... You’re just a scammer. Thank God I didn’t fall for it. This world is crazy!"

"Fine. If you won’t let me explain, then there’s no point in staying," Roman said and turned to leave, knowing things had gone too far.

He finally understood that Chantelle had tricked him again.

Ethan was about to call the police, and Roman didn’t want to get dragged into questioning.

But just as he reached the door, he froze.

His eyes widened. He took a few steps back, missed a step, and fell hard to the ground.

"Daniel?" he muttered in shock.

Roman collapsed to the floor the moment he laid eyes on Daniel. His body trembled.

"Mr. Wilson, what are you doing here?"

He was totally thrown off.

Didn’t he already leave Chantelle? Was he suddenly having second thoughts?

Daniel kept walking as he answered, "I’m here to take a nap with my wife. But then I heard you’re trying to sell her house?"

Roman felt guilty. His hands shook as he struggled to stand and rushed to the side.

If Kingsley hadn’t helped him, he wouldn’t have made it up. His legs felt like jelly and he barely moved. Fear had completely taken over his body.

"N-No! I wasn’t trying to sell it. The house isn’t even under Chantelle’s name, so I couldn’t sell it even if I tried," he stammered. He was clearly terrified of Daniel but still tried to defend himself.

Daniel’s eyes darkened. "So you really planned to sell her house? Roman Bently, was I too kind to you?"

Just seeing Daniel’s rage made Roman’s whole body tremble.

"Mr. Wilson, you’re still with my daughter, right? That makes us family. Let’s talk this through..." Roman tried to bring up Chantelle’s name, hoping he could get Daniel’s sympathy.

"Family? Ha!" Daniel laughed coldly, and his voice was filled with anger. "You really think I don’t know you’ve been framing my wife just to take advantage of her? Do you think the Wilson family is weak? Is that why you keep hurting her?"

His anger flared up. He was barely holding himself back.

Roman shook his head quickly. "Mr. Wilson, I wouldn’t dare go against your family. I thought you had already left Chantelle. It seemed like a waste for her to stay alone in such a big house. I figured if I sold it, I could give her a better life. Besides, the house isn’t even under her name. She’s just renting it. I was only thinking of what was best for her. I mean... you loved her so much, right?"

Roman was testing his luck. He threw out that excuse, hoping Daniel would let him go.

In his mind, he sneered.

Isn’t the Wilson family supposed to be rich and powerful? But your wife doesn’t even have her own house? What a joke!

It makes sense why people think I’m a fraud.

It’s all because Mr. Wilson is too stingy!

He felt like he had figured out everything. In his mind, he was completely right.

"Mr. Bently, are you calling me stingy?" Daniel asked in a sharp tone.

"I didn’t mean it like that," Roman said quickly. "I’m just a helpless old man, who is almost broke. I can’t even speak up for my own daughter."

He let out a loud sigh on purpose, trying to sound pitiful.

Roman felt proud of himself. He really thought Daniel was starting to believe him.

Would he end up buying this house for Chantelle just to save face?

That would be perfect, Roman thought. Let him do it.

But then Ashton suddenly cut in. "Mr. Bently, maybe you don’t know—Mr. Wilson already gave all 108 of his properties to Mrs. Wilson."

Roman was shocked after hearing that. His heart nearly stopped beating from the sudden declaration.

"W-What? Did you really give most of your assets to Chantelle? But why?" Roman asked, completely shocked.

He couldn’t believe it.

What kind of man gives up that much for a woman?

No woman is worth that, he thought.

Ashton briefly explained, looking at Roman’s shocked face. "Mr. Bently, if you don’t believe it, feel free to check with the Real Estate Bureau. Most of the transfers were done five years ago. And there are still more properties being added. If you really want to sell something under Mrs. Wilson’s name, you can pick one from the city. Each is worth at least three billion dollars."

Roman was utterly speechless and his mind went blank.

Chantelle... she’s so ungrateful! She owns so many houses, yet she tricked me with a rental? How disgusting! Roman thought.

He was fuming. He pointed at Chantelle. "S-So, you set me up?"

Chantelle looked at him calmly. "You said you wanted this house. So I asked Russell to bring the ownership papers for you."

Roman’s face turned red as anger took over his sanity. "You!" he shouted.

Realizing he was cornered, he clutched his chest and pretended to feel dizzy.

He collapsed to the ground like he’d practiced it many times before.

Roman had no idea that Daniel saw right through his act.

Daniel turned to Ashton and ordered, "Take Mr. Bently to the police station."

"Yes, Mr. Wilson!" Ashton quickly nodded.

"A-Ah! No! I’m being framed!" Roman suddenly sprang up from the ground.

He didn’t look weak or sick anymore—not even a little.

Roman screamed and bolted out of the villa in seconds.

But the Wilson family’s bodyguards caught him right away and dragged him to the police station.
