Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback -
Chapter 187: This Is Insane!
Chapter 187: Chapter 187: This Is Insane!
"What’s the point of you living alone in such a big house? Do you still think you’re some rich man’s wife?" Roman snapped. "Besides, my name is ruined because of you! I don’t even have clean clothes to wear. You should help me!"
"Oh, I get it now," Chantelle said coldly. "You think Daniel dumped me, so you can now push me around. That’s why you came here to take what’s mine."
"So what?" Roman shot back. "If you hadn’t fooled me on that live stream, I could’ve turned things around. All I want now is for you to pay me back. What’s wrong with that?"
He looked completely convinced he was making the right decision.
"Roman Bently, are you really my father?" Chantelle’s voice shook angrily and her hands were trembling.
"Of course I am. You ungrateful brat. You’d turn your back on your own father over a bit of money, wouldn’t you?" Roman snapped, acting like he’d done nothing wrong.
His words cut deep.
Chantelle had actually hoped he would say that he wasn’t her real father. Then, she could pretend there was no blood tie between them at all.
But he didn’t. He was her biological father. That truth made her skin crawl.
"Fine. Since you want to sell the house, go ahead."
Chantelle clenched her fists, fighting the urge to tear Roman apart.
She forced herself to stay calm.
Her eyes turned colder as she stared at him without hiding her disgust.
Since he had sunk this low, there was no point in being kind anymore.
Chantelle didn’t want to waste another word on him. She walked over to the bar counter and sat down.
Without looking at him again, she pulled out her phone and quickly typed a message.
Roman, watching her, smirked.
"You’re serious? Well then, I’ve always said you were a smart woman, Chantelle. Even when you were a child," he said proudly. "Once I turn things around, I’ll make sure to repay you big time!"
Roman didn’t expect Chantelle to agree immediately. He gave a mischievous smile at her.
Excited, he reached out to hold her hand, but she quickly pulled away.
"Mr. Bently, the real estate agent is now here with a buyer," Kingsley called his attention soon after they entered the living room.
Roman’s face lit up. He rushed over to greet them, acting like he owned the place.
Kingsley brought the two men inside and made the introductions.
"Mr. Bently, this is Mr. Cole, the agent. And this is Mr. White, the potential buyer."
"Nice to meet you, Mr. White. This house is well-maintained. If I didn’t need cash urgently, I wouldn’t even consider selling it..." Roman started talking the moment the guests walked in.
Ethan White, the buyer, was from the suburbs. He had a round belly and wasn’t very tall, but he looked like a man with money.
He had lived in Easthan for years and now wanted a house near the capital for his children.
The problem was, no one in this neighborhood wanted to sell their property. Most of them were wealthy and had no reason to move away.
When Roman put the house up for sale, the agent quickly connected him with Ethan.
But as soon as Ethan saw Roman, he felt something was wrong.
Roman looked messy and smelled bad. He didn’t seem like someone who lived in a place like this.
"Mr. Bently, are you sure this is your house?" Ethan asked, keeping his distance, clearly bothered by the sight of Roman’s appearance.
"Of course. Why else would I be selling it?" Roman replied quickly.
"All right. I like the house," Ethan said. "But I need to see the property title first. Prove you own it, and I’ll pay in full."
Roman’s eyes lit up with joy.
"Sure! Take a seat. I’ll get it right away!"
He turned around with a grin and looked toward the bar counter.
Chantelle was sitting there, calmly sipping her chocolate milk, waiting to enjoy the show.
"Chantelle, did you hear that? Mr. White is paying in full. Give me the property title now!" Roman said eagerly.
"Title? What property title?" Chantelle asked, sounding confused.
"The title for this house!" Roman lowered his voice, clearly stunned at Chantelle’s statement.
Don’t tell me she doesn’t even know what I’m asking her....
"I don’t have it," Chantelle replied with a shrug.
"What do you mean you don’t have it? You said I could sell the house! Mr. White is ready to buy. How can you go back on your word?" Roman shouted.
"I didn’t go back on my word," Chantelle shook her head.
"Then bring out the property title. Mr. White is waiting!"
"I said you could sell the house. That’s true. But the landlord never gave me the title when I rented this villa," Chantelle said loudly.
"What? Are you kidding me?" Roman was shocked. He felt like he had just been tricked.
"Landlord? Mr. Bently, whose house are you selling—yours or your landlord’s? This is insane! How dare you try to sell a house that doesn’t even belong to you?" Ethan snapped, furious after hearing Chantelle’s words.
"Mr. White, wait! Please, this is a misunderstanding. I can explain—" Roman stammered, panic rising in his chest.
"Chantelle, stop playing around. Just get the property title and hand it to Mr. White," Roman insisted, still thinking she was messing with him.
"I’m not joking. I really don’t have it. But how about I call the landlord now?" Chantelle said, already dialing.
A few minutes later, Russell—who had been waiting nearby—stormed inside the villa and was clearly angry.
"Who are you? What are you all doing in my house?" Russell shouted.
Roman jumped in shock.
"Who the hell are you?" Roman asked back, confused.
"I’m the owner of this house. And who are you? You stink. Chantelle, why did you let a beggar come inside my house?"
"What?" Roman’s face turned red as his anger began to rise. He opened his mouth to argue, but Chantelle cut him off.
"This man barged in and said he wanted to sell the house. He even asked me for the property title. I had no choice but to call you," Chantelle quickly explained.
Hearing this, Russell jumped right into his role.
"What? This is insane! How dare you harass my tenant and try to sell my house? Who do you think you are?" he yelled.
Chantelle had asked Russell to act, and he made sure to play his part very well.
"Oh my God! This isn’t even your house?" Ethan’s face changed. "Mr. Cole, what’s going on? Do you know he’s a scammer?"
