Chapter 180: Find Out Who This Brat Is

Chapter 180: Chapter 180: Find Out Who This Brat Is

The steel ball exploded, and smoke filled the room, blinding Joseph momentarily.

When the smoke cleared, Chantelle was gone.

Fred ran into the room after hearing the blast. "Sir, should I send someone to go after her?"

"No. We’ll see each other again soon," Joseph replied calmly.

"Let’s get out of here first. The smoke is too much," Fred urged him.

"Okay, let’s go back to the castle," Joseph said as he grabbed his crutches and left the ward.

Meanwhile, Chantelle had escaped. She hurried toward the nearest elevator.

Ding! The elevator doors opened just as she got near.

A woman stepped out of the elevator.

"Kate?" Chantelle was shocked. She was sure it was her.

The woman’s face was partly hidden by a hat, but she looked exactly like Kate.

Chantelle called out Kate’s name subconsciously. She quickly tried to catch up with her but the woman didn’t turn around. She vanished into the crowd.

Chantelle didn’t waste time chasing after her. She thought Joseph was still nearby. She knew she had to leave sooner.

She rushed into the elevator and made it to the first floor.

Just as she was about to find the hospital exit, someone called her name.

"Ms. Chantelle!"

"Calvin? What are you doing here?"

"This is Northern Suburbs Hospital. I couldn’t reach your phone, so I thought something happened. I didn’t expect you to make it here on your own!" Calvin said with a look of relief. He had tried calling her many times but got no answer. He was really worried.

"This isn’t the place to talk. Let’s go," Chantelle said quickly. She was afraid Joseph might still be nearby and saw them.

Without asking questions, Calvin followed her into the car.

They drove off to head back to the city.

"Ms. Chantelle, is everything okay?" Calvin asked, worried.

He noticed she was hugging herself tightly, looking shaken.

He remembered that Joseph had shown up earlier too.

"Ms. Chantelle, did he hurt you?" Calvin’s voice lowered when he referred to Joseph’s name.

"I’m fine," Chantelle said in a small voice. "Calvin, I think something happened between Joseph and Daniel. Please look into it for me."

"Okay," Calvin replied.

"Unfortunately, we didn’t find Kate. She must’ve been scared off," he added with a heavy sigh. He blamed himself for letting her slip away.

"It’s okay. She’ll show up again," Chantelle replied immediately.

But her mind drifted away. She kept thinking about the woman she had seen earlier.

None of this felt random.

It was as if Kate was luring her into a trap.

And then Joseph showed up too out of nowhere.

It was all just too much of a coincidence.

"Don’t worry. I’ll keep watching her," Calvin said. "Another thing, Mr. Wilson seems to be investigating about Steph."

"Let him be," Chantelle replied. "He only knew about her recently."

Although Chantelle was a bit surprised, she wasn’t shocked that Daniel didn’t ask her directly.

Instead, he went behind her back to investigate their daughter.

Hmph. What a jerk. Does he really think I’d lie to him?

"Should we tell Steph?" Calvin asked. "She’ll be mad if she finds out you’ve been hiding the truth about her father."

"Calvin, don’t you think Steph already knows about him?"

"Huh?"

"Kane was a big fan of his sister. There’s no way he hadn’t told Steph about their father."

My daughter is smart—she must’ve figured it out.

"Oh, then I guess there’s nothing to worry about," Calvin said, feeling relieved.

Calvin had watched over Kane and Steph since they were little. He knew Steph was sharp and clever.

One time, he made her mad by mistake, and then she ignored him for three whole months.

"Steph’s next tour stop is here in the country. She’ll be arriving soon," he said.

Maybe it’s time she came home for a visit. Chantelle began thinking of a plan.

At the Wilson Group of Companies, Daniel sat in his office, flipping through printed profiles of Stephanie.

The more he read the information, the more impressed he became.

His team had failed to catch Lone Wolf, but he didn’t even scold them. He was in a good mood at this moment.

Steph looked just like Chantelle when she was younger—cute and full of energy.

And she was incredibly talented.

Just as I thought... she’s definitely my daughter!

Daniel spent the whole afternoon going through the documents. Most of them were news articles and certificates showing Steph’s achievements.

He looked at every photo carefully, one by one.

Steph looked adorable and full of life in every single picture. He felt proud just knowing he was her father.

But then, he found a photo that made him annoyed.

A little boy was holding Steph’s hand.

Daniel’s smile instantly disappeared.

His chest almost exploded out of rage.

Daniel picked up his phone and called Ashton to come over.

"Sir, what do you need me to do?" Ashton asked quickly the moment he entered Daniel’s office.

Then, anxiety crept in when he saw Daniel’s cold expression.

"Find out who this brat is," Daniel said, pointing at the photo. "I want to cut off his hand."

"Um... this isn’t right," Ashton said, feeling embarrassed as he held the photo.

There was a big red X drawn over the boy’s hand. Daniel had pressed down the pen so hard when drew it and it almost tore through the picture. He was obviously furious.

But the boy in the photo looked only five or six years old.

I don’t think I can do this task. It’s too cruel for me! Ashton thought silently.

"This little brat has no manners. Holding my daughter’s hand at that age?" Daniel growled. "Maybe I should just bury him alive!"

His eyes were filled with fury as he stood up, wanting to find the boy.

Ashton quickly grabbed Daniel’s thigh.

"Sir, please think this through. The boy is only five!"

"He’s already misbehaving at this age. Imagine what he’ll be like when he’s older," Daniel growled.

"Sir, really, there’s no need to worry. Kids that young don’t think about gender. To him, it’s just friendship."

"Is that true?" Daniel asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Yes, just like Kane and Rai. At their age, they don’t think about love or relationships," Ashton said, persuading Daniel quickly to calm him down.

"Fine. I’ll let the little brat off this time," Daniel muttered, clearly unhappy about it.

Ashton stood up and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

He knew right then that another person had just been added to the Wilson family’s watchlist.
