Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback -
Chapter 158: Calling Chantelle Bently
Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Calling Chantelle Bently
"Honey, I’ll do my best to show you how much I love you. I’ll give Kane the little sister he wants," he said, looking straight into her eyes.
Chantelle scoffed. "You’re really taking a kid’s words to heart?"
She tried to break free from his hold, but it was no use.
"He’s my son. Of course, I take my promises to him seriously. If I don’t, what kind of example would I be setting?" Daniel argued stubbornly.
Chantelle had nothing to say to that. "Fine, go ahead if you want to set yourself up for disappointment." She had no intention of having another baby with this man.
"For you, I’d try again and again," Daniel said firmly. He had already made up his mind since the hospital.
From now on, he would live for the woman standing in front of him. He would love her and make up for everything she had gone through.
Chantelle looked at his serious face, feeling a flicker of curiosity. "What does it feel like to be loved by you, Daniel Wilson?" she asked without thinking.
"Getting curious, huh? That’s a good start. Keep wondering, honey," he said with a playful smile before letting go of her and walking toward the kitchen.
Chantelle stretched out on the sofa, watching as Daniel rolled up his sleeves to make breakfast. Her heart skipped a beat. Something about him felt different.
The Daniel she remembered had only shown her coldness.
To him, she used to be nothing but a stain on his perfect life. Now, he was treating her with care. She didn’t understand how someone could fall in love with a person they once hated.
Even if he knew he had blamed her wrongly, wasn’t he going too far to make up for it?
Her eyes landed on the laptop beside her. She picked it up and replayed the footage of her walking into Daniel’s room in the middle of the night. It looked like she was in a trance.
She had never sleep walked before. The more she thought about it, the more anxious she felt. Maybe it was time to visit Russell and get a full checkup.

Roman was treated at the hospital for a few surface injuries and light muscle sprains. He didn’t need surgery and was wheeled back to his room after treatment.
The doctors gave him medicine to help relax his stiff muscles, and little by little, he started moving his arms and legs again.
He saw it as a lucky break that things didn’t turn out worse.
Once he felt a bit stronger, he called Kingsley over.
"Sir, looking at you now, should I cancel your livestream for tonight?" Kingsley asked, worried after seeing how tired Roman looked.
"No, we’re still doing it. In fact, let’s make it even better," Roman said. "Tell Orange Management we’re going live straight from the hospital."
"Sir..." Kingsley said, but Roman cut him off.
"Stop with the nonsense, Kingsley! Contact them now," Roman ordered. "Start a rumor that I landed in the hospital because Chantelle refused to recognize me as her father. Tell them to start the livestream earlier!"
He had a feeling things were finally going his way. Viewers would see him in hospital clothes and feel sorry for him. His audience numbers would shoot up.
"Yes, sir. I’ll call them right away!" Kingsley said with a nod.
"Wait," Roman suddenly stopped him.
"Yes, sir? What else do you need?" Kingsley asked politely.
"Where is Ruby right now?" Roman asked sharply.
"Umm... Sir, you asked me to contact Mrs. Bently earlier, but I couldn’t reach her. I still haven’t found her," Kingsley admitted.
"Keep looking. Tell me the moment you find her. Also, get a lawyer to draft a divorce agreement. I’m going to make that woman and her lover pay back every single cent they owe me!" Roman roared in a voice full of rage.
For a moment, he sounded like the powerful CEO he used to be.
"Yes, sir!" Kingsley replied quickly, a little relieved to see Roman’s spirit returning.
Maybe there was still hope for the Bently family.
An hour later, the production crew from Leon Network arrived at Roman’s hospital room.
Shawn Smith, one of their reporters, was surprised by what he saw.
Roman was covered in bruises and wrapped in bandages.
"Mr. Bently, what happened to you, sir?" he asked carefully.
"Ah, just some family issues. No point talking about it now..." Roman sighed heavily.
Deep down, he was pleased. He had planned everything.
Kingsley was supposed to bring the hospital bill right at this moment. That way, Shawn would feel sorry and offer to pay.
Roman let a few fake tears well up to play the part.
"Was it your ungrateful daughter again? What’s the point of marrying into a rich family if she can’t even look after her parents?" Shawn said, clearly upset.
Instantly, he offered to cover the medical bill and even told his team to prepare health supplements for Roman. His coworkers saw what was going on, but they chose to stay silent.
Shawn would have to learn the truth the hard way—just like they did.
"Ah, Shawn, if only you were my son... You treat me better than my real daughter. I don’t ask much from her. Just to call me sometimes and admit I’m her father. Is that really too much?" Roman cried out, sounding heartbroken.
"Don’t be too upset, Mr. Bently. We’re going live soon. When we do, I’ll call Chantelle Bently through the network’s hotline. She won’t be able to avoid you anymore," Shawn said with confidence.
The cameraman was baffled when he heard that but decided to be silent. For workers like him, it was safer not to get involved.
Shawn then hovered over his interview questions list and set up the equipment. He even helped Roman practice.
Roman used to be a well-known figure in Easthan, with many interviews from his CEO days.
Thanks to Leon Network’s early promos, over a thousand viewers were already watching when the stream began.
The number kept going up fast, especially when people saw Roman in hospital clothes.
"Is Mr. Bently sick?" they asked in the chat.
"Hmm, he really looks like he’s wearing hospital clothes..."
"Are you seeing this, @ChantelleBently? Your father’s in the hospital. Where are you?" someone tweeted.
"@ChantelleBently"
"Calling Chantelle Bently!"
"Where are you, Chantelle Bently?"
