Chapter 157: Chapter 157: My Wife Is So Cute

Chantelle’s hand rested on his chest, and her leg was wrapped around his waist.

She shot up and her eyes widened.

What was happening?

She quickly tried to move her hand, but Daniel grabbed it before she could pull away.

"Did you sleep well last night, wifey?" he asked with a teasing smile, keeping a firm grip on her hand.

"Daniel Wilson! Why are you in my bed?!" Chantelle yelled angrily. She had only let him stay over last night because she felt bad for him.

He had been hurt and she didn’t want him to sleep on a hospital sofa. But she never said he could crawl into her bed.

After Ruby got caught, Chantelle decided to go home. She was worried about Railer, who was still waiting for her.

The doctors said it was okay for her to leave, but Daniel didn’t want her to go home alone. She knew she wouldn’t win that argument, so she let him come along.

Still, she never agreed to share a bed with him.

"Wifey, open your eyes. You’re in my bed," Daniel said, turning to his side with a grin. He rested his head on one hand like he was posing.

The blanket slipped down accidentally, showing off his toned chest and abs, even with a few bandages.

Chantelle realized he was trying to charm her. And worse, it was starting to work.

"If you ever struggle to sleep, just remember that my bed’s always open. And so am I," Daniel said while winking at her.

Chantelle was bewildered, completely speechless. She didn’t move until Daniel waved his hand in front of her face, snapping her out of her thoughts.

"No one wants to hug you to sleep! Keep dreaming, Daniel!" Chantelle retorted with her cheeks burning red.

As she slowly came to her senses, she realized with horror that she was actually in Daniel’s bedroom—not hers.

She had arranged the rooms herself. She was supposed to be on the second floor, and Daniel on the third. So how did she end up here?

She remembered warning him to stay away from her room. But now, it looked like she was the one who had gone to his room in the middle of the night and fallen asleep in his bed. The thought made her feel a bit ashamed.

"That’s not true, honey! Dreams are important. They might just come true—just like last night," Daniel said cheerfully, clearly holding on to hope.

"Oh, don’t get too excited. That dream of yours will never happen. Better start thinking of new ones," Chantelle said firmly, giving him a sharp glare.

"Since you’re awake, put on something warmer. You’ll catch a cold," she added quickly, trying to sound calm as she handed him a sweater.

Then, without waiting for a reply, she hurried out of the room.

Her face was still flushed as she headed down the stairs. She had no idea how she ended up in Daniel’s room last night.

Back in her room, she switched on her laptop and opened the house’s surveillance footage. She scrolled through it in reverse, determined to solve the mystery.

Just as she was getting ready to dig in, Kane walked into her room, smiling and holding his toy laptop.

"Mommy, did you and Daddy make up? Can I have a baby sister now?" Kane asked with hopeful eyes.

"Why do you say that, honey?" Chantelle asked and a bad feeling creeped in.

"I was checking the camera footage to look for Baymax," Kane said excitedly. "But then I saw you going into Daddy’s room last night. If you’re having a baby, I want a sister, okay?"

He turned on his toy laptop and his eyes were shining. As the youngest of Chantelle’s triplets, he had always dreamed of having a little sister to play with. He didn’t anticipate it would happen this soon. It made him so happy.

"Hey, Kane. Don’t jump to conclusions," Chantelle said gently. "It’s not what you think. You’re dad and I haven’t reconciled. I just went to his room to grab something."

Yes, that was going to be her excuse. It was her house, after all. It wasn’t strange for her to walk into a guest room. Chantelle pressed her lips together, satisfied with that explanation.

"But Mommy, you never came out of Daddy’s room after you went in. The next time you showed up was this morning—just now!" Kane pointed out, giving her a suspicious look. "You’re not lying to your own son, are you?"

"Of course not!" Chantelle said quickly, avoiding his eyes.

"So when can I have a baby sister?" Kane asked again, not letting it go.

"Uhh... let’s talk about that after your Daddy gets better," Chantelle said, hoping he’d drop his question.

"Yay! A deal’s a deal, Mommy. Don’t think you can fool me just because I’m a child," Kane said with a cheeky grin.

"Mhmm," Chantelle nodded, hoping that would be the end of their conversation.

It was getting harder to handle the kids now that they were growing up. But before she could breathe, Kane spoke again.

"Daddy, you heard her! My baby sister depends on you now!" he said happily.

Daddy? Chantelle froze.

That could only mean one thing. She turned slowly and ended up staring straight into Daniel’s smug grin. Her knees went weak.

Kane! Why would you do this to Mommy? she cried silently.

"Okay. Daddy will try his best to give Kane a baby sister," Daniel said with a serious tone.

"Yay!" Kane cheerfully did a happy little dance right there on the spot. He completely forgot about his laptop on the table and ran off to find Railer.

Daniel was wearing only a button-down cardigan, with just the bottom few buttons done. His chest was partly exposed, showing off his firm muscles.

He trotted toward Chantelle, closing the gap between them.

In one swift move, he grabbed Kane’s laptop from the sofa and sat down beside her. He glanced at the screen and watched the footage that was still playing.

My wife is so cute, Daniel thought as he watched Chantelle sleepwalking toward his room in the video.

It took a few seconds before Chantelle realized what Daniel was doing. When she saw what was on the laptop screen and tried to stop him, he had already pulled her into his arms with one swift move.
