Chapter 992: You can’t beat him (1) Chapter 992: You can’t beat him (1) “Weiwei, wait here for me; I’m going to go check things out,” Shen Hua stopped her, his voice steady and calm.
Then, he quickly walked out, with Ada following closely behind.
Jian Wei watched their retreating figures disappear through the door, her heart suddenly leaping to her throat.
It wasn’t long before A’er arrived.
There was a woman with him, whose shape and silhouette closely resembled hers.
Jian Wei threw back the covers, and A’er hurried over to assist her.
“How is Ayan?” she asked.
A’er replied, “Young Master is fine; we need to leave quickly.”
In the meantime, the woman who had followed A’er put on a silicone mask and then lay down in the bed.
Jian Wei took the clothes that had been prepared in advance and quickly dressed.
“If we leave now, what about her?”
Shen Hua would surely be furious if he came back to find her missing; she couldn’t trade her life for someone else’s.
“Don’t worry. After we leave the courtyard, she will leave on her own; all the guards on this floor have been temporarily drawn away,” A’er said.
Jian Wei took the silicone mask he handed her, expertly applying it to her face.
A’er instructed, “Pretend to faint, and I’ll carry you out to avoid drawing attention. We don’t have much time.”
Jian Wei nodded, “Okay.”
A’er, carrying Jian Wei, briskly walked out.
As they passed the entrance of the courtyard, they were stopped by the guards.
Recognizing A’er as one of Shen Yan’s men, the guards respectfully said, “Protector Zuo, the person you’re carrying is…”
A’er, with a stern face, said, “An unidentified individual, planning to attack the Young Master. I chased and knocked them out. Now I’m taking them back for handling.”
Upon hearing this, the guards quickly made way.
With a close call, A’er managed to carry Jian Wei out of the courtyard successfully. Fortunately, it was still morning, and the number of patrolling guards wasn’t high. Moreover, A’er chose to walk through the quieter paths, which helped them go unnoticed.
“Ayan.”
The door to the Examination Room banged open as Shen Hua strode in.
However, the atmosphere was eerily quiet.
Shen Hua walked around the screen, and the slim figure of the man came into his view.
Shen Yan was sitting on the bed with his back turned to him. Hearing footsteps, he slowly turned around.
Seeing Shen Hua arriving in haste, the sweat barely beading on his forehead, a hint of guilt rose in Shen Yan’s heart, “Brother.”
Shen Hua sized him up and down, his gaze suddenly turning dark and dangerous, “You’re unharmed?”
Shen Yan walked over, “Brother, I’m sorry.”
Shen Hua, as if realizing something, his complexion changed, and he turned to leave.
“Brother, listen to me first.”
Ayan moved swiftly to the door, locking it.
“Shen Yan, get out of my way,” Shen Hua said sternly, his voice icy.
“Brother, I can’t let you go. Please stop this, spare them and yourself,” Shen Yan begged, his back against the door, his gaze earnest as he looked at him.
“You owe Awei too much; please don’t continue to make the same mistakes, okay?”
The veins on Shen Hua’s neck and temples bulged out, “Shen Yan, you really are something, betraying me for their sake.”
Luring the tiger away from the mountain; he had used the tactic quite skillfully.
It was his own foolishness that he had fallen for the trap.
“Ada, send the word out, turn on all the surveillance on the island, and have someone watch the shore; I don’t want a single fly to escape,” Shen Hua commanded.
“Yes,” Ada glanced at Shen Yan and took out his phone, ready to make an arrest.
Seizing the opportunity, Shen Yan rushed over and snatched the mobile phone from him, his agility catching Ada off guard with shock.
Shen Hua, noting the unusual speed of Shen Yan, felt his eyes darken.
What was going on?
His speed was so fast, it was like that of a normal person.
Shen Yan, having grabbed the phone, smashed it fiercely onto the ground.
“Bang—”
Shen Hua, watching the shattered phone on the ground, emanated a chill that was suffocating.
“Ada, stop him.”
He grabbed him by the collar and flung him towards Ada, then grabbed the doorknob, ready to leave.
“Second Young Master, you mustn’t,”
The altered voice of Ada came from behind him, successfully halting Shen Hua’s departure.
He turned around, meeting Shen Yan’s clear, watery eyes.
When his gaze landed on the gun in his hand, a flicker of rage flashed through the depths, “Shen Yan, when exactly will you stop this madness?”
Shen Yan, holding the gun, aimed the dark muzzle at his own heart, “Brother, as long as you let them go, I guarantee they won’t trouble you either. Can we both take a step back, please?”
“Heh.”
Shen Hua gave a cold laugh, “I can give up everything, but not Weiwei. Don’t threaten me with your life, Shen Yan. You should know, I despise threats the most.”
“If I can’t stop you, and I can’t bring myself to kill you, then let everything end with me,” Shen Yan said with a faint smile, one filled with too much helplessness and desolation.
He slowly closed his eyes and curled his finger around the trigger.
In an instant, Shen Hua shifted, swinging a punch that knocked his hand away.
“Bang—”
The deafening gun sound echoed, and Ada held his breath.
The bullet veered off target, and fresh, red blood spilled from Shen Yan’s shoulder, blooming into a lurid flower on his white shirt.
His typically gentle face turned pale instantly, and the gun in his hand was kicked away by Shen Hua.
Shen Hua, looking at the spreading pool of blood on the ground, grabbed him by the collar, his eyes clouded with darkness, “Shen Yan, don’t push my limits any further. If I can’t have it, then no one else can.”
Shen Yan managed a strained smile, his eyes shining with resolve, “If you want to step out of this room, you’ll have to step over my dead body first.”
Shen Hua sneered and let go, “At this time, I guess they haven’t left the island yet. Shen Yan, if I press the switch, do you think they’ll have a chance to escape?”
Knowing exactly what he meant by the switch, Shen Yan’s complexion changed. Ignoring the blood still flowing from his shoulder, he anxiously grabbed Shen Hua’s arm.
“Where did you put the switch?”
Shen Hua gave a mocking smile, “What do you think?”
Shen Yan looked at him intently, suddenly having a flash of insight in his mind.
Could it be…
“On you?” he asked, his warm voice carrying a hint of disbelief.
“What do you think?” Shen Hua teased, watching him with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, “Shen Yan, for all your scheming and betrayal, I intend to make you realize that all you’ve done is for naught.”
He pulled away his hand and shoved it aside before turning to leave.
This time, Shen Yan didn’t try to stop him, his gaze complicated as he watched Shen Hua’s receding figure.
Ada looked at Shen Yan and, noticing the wound on his shoulder, said with some reluctance, “Second Young Master, stop fighting with the eldest. You can’t beat him.”
After speaking, he quickly left the room.
A red sun leapt above the sea, a breeze arose, and the waves danced, stirring up a sea of shattered gold.
The white and blue yacht was anchored in the shallow waters. Mo Xiao made sure the two kids were settled inside the yacht, periodically stepping out to check the surroundings.
