Chapter 991: Storm Prelude (3) Chapter 991: Storm Prelude (3) “Okay, tonight then. You go ahead and have someone prepare the divorce agreement, leave the rest to me.” Shen Yan let out a sigh of relief, then continued to persuade.
After sending Shen Hua away, Shen Yan turned and walked into the room.
“Everyone, leave.”
“Yes.”
In an instant, only the two of them were left in the room.
“Awei, what on earth is going on?” Shen Yan pulled over a chair and sat down by the bed.
“Shen Hua just pressured me to sign the marriage registration papers, but I refused. Then he had someone process it online, and that’s when he discovered my previous registration with An Zhe. I’m also unclear about the whole thing,” Jian Wei explained.
Shen Yan frowned, “Are you saying you didn’t know about the registration either?”
Jian Wei nodded, “I was shocked just now as well.”
Shen Yan stroked his chin, pondered for a moment, and then said gloomily, “This might be the work of Jian Qing.”
“No matter who did it, this is good news for me,” Jian Wei said with a twisted smile.
Shen Yan looked around and then leaned in close to her ear to tell her his plan.
“Awei, in a bit my brother will bring the divorce agreement. Just go along with him for now and sign it. All we need is to stall until you leave.”
“I understand,” Jian Wei said.
“I still have some things to arrange, so I’ll be leaving first. If anything comes up, you can speak to Dr. Kesen,” he said.
“Hmm.”
Leaving the small courtyard, Shen Yan went to look for Shen Hua. When he arrived at his study, Shen Hua was discussing his condition with Dr. Kesen.
He knocked on the door and entered.
“Second Young Master.”
Dr. Kesen, seeing the rare rosy complexion on Shen Yan’s face, immediately understood something.
“Dr. Kesen, is this my medical report?” Shen Yan stepped forward, picked up the report from the desk, and asked.
“Yes,” Dr. Kesen nodded, “Second Young Master, as long as you take your medication on time, there generally shouldn’t be any major problems.”
Shen Yan put down the report and looked at Shen Hua with a grin, “Brother, you’ve heard what Dr. Kesen said. I won’t have any issues, so you can rest assured.”
Shen Hua ignored him and directly asked Dr. Kesen, “When can he undergo surgery?”
“The earliest would be next week,” Dr. Kesen replied, echoing Shen Yan’s instructions.
“Fine, then next week,” Shen Hua said decisively, leaving Shen Yan no room to refuse.
Just as Shen Yan was about to speak, Shen Hua threw a document at him, “There’s no room for discussion on this. Take the divorce agreement and have her sign it. Now leave, I still have documents to review.”
Shen Yan took the document and sighed softly, “I’ll have Awei sign the agreement later, and then have A’er send it to An Zhe. I’ll get Jian Qing to persuade him to sign it. Brother, I hope you won’t take action against him.”
Having said that, he stepped out and left the study.
…
Deep into the night, with the sea breeze gently chilling.
In the room, Shen Yan and Jian Qing were confirming the plan for their departure the next day.
Shen Yan recounted what had happened today at the small courtyard to Jian Qing and decided to change the departure time to the morning.
“Jian Qing, remember tomorrow morning I will occupy my brother; you’ll have only half an hour. As soon as Awei is with you, leave immediately, don’t delay even for a second,” Shen Yan instructed.
“I got it,” Jian Qing nodded.
“This is my phone, take it. Once you leave this place, call your people right away to come pick you up,” Shen Yan handed over his mobile phone to Jian Qing, adding with concern, “Awei’s health hasn’t fully recovered, she can’t withstand too much jostling. Be careful.”
Jian Qing, hearing his tone as if they would never meet again, felt an uncomfortable blockage in her heart.
“Shen Yan, come with us,” Mo Xiao said.
Shen Yan glanced at him, curved his lips slightly, “Actually, this is all we owe you. Don’t worry about me. An Zhe, I guess I won’t be able to attend your wedding wine, so I’m offering my congratulations in advance.”
In the end, he added a sentence, “This apology is on behalf of my brother and for you all, I am sorry.” If it weren’t for his brother, their family would have been very happy.
Jian Qing and Quan Jingwu exchanged a glance, their faces tense.
The long night stretched on, yet no one could fall asleep.
Dawn gradually broke, revealing the pale light of early morning, clouds massed together at the edge of the sky like blood-soaked wisps, casting a splendid red hue.
Shen Yan sat in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, having not slept all night, his face still rosy.
The fiery red sun glinted off his eyes, and he smiled slightly, his expression serene and resigned.
He reached for the medicine bottle beside him, poured out the last pill, and then without hesitation, popped it into his mouth.
A’er pushed the door open and entered, a trace of pain flashing in the depths of his eyes as he saw the medicine bottle by his side.
The footsteps from behind grew closer, step by step.
Shen Yan stood up, his legs numb after sitting through the night.
He rubbed his numb legs, “Is everything arranged?”
A’er answered, “It’s been arranged.”
“Why such a gloomy face?” Shen Yan, seeing his tragic expression, quipped, “I’m fine, aren’t I? If we were to fight, you probably couldn’t even beat me.”
Although those pills would hasten his death, at least now he felt an unprecedented lightness throughout his body, like a healthy person, no more torment from spontaneous bouts of illness.
A’er bowed his head in silence.
“Let’s go.”
Shen Yan patted his shoulder and took the lead in walking out.
Downstairs, Jian Qing and the others had all gathered.
“An Zhe, you take seventeen and the others to the boat to wait, A’er will show you the way,” Shen Yan said as he looked at the two young treasures, feeling reluctant to leave.
He extended his hand to caress the children’s small faces, “Seventeen, Nineteen, take care.”
“You be careful too,” Mo Xiao said to Shen Yan.
“Mhm, let’s go.”
Mo Xiao, carrying the two children, followed A’er out. Shen Yan turned to Jian Qing and Quan Jingwu, “You two wait here for now. Once A’er returns, you can begin.”
Jian Qing nodded, and Shen Yan quickly left.
Just as Shen Yan had expected, Shen Hua went to the little garden early in the morning.
As usual, he would say a few words now and then, but Jian Wei consistently ignored him, creating a stiff atmosphere between them.
Shen Hua poured a glass of water and placed it in front of her, “Weiwei, have some water first.”
Jian Wei remained silent, gazing at the scenery outside the window.
“Weiwei, once we get the divorce papers back, we’ll get married right away. Then I’ll take you traveling. I remember you mentioned you wanted to go on a world tour,” Shen Hua babbled, a gentle smile on his lips.
“Young Master, there’s trouble.”
Ada rushed in, his expression urgent.
“What happened?” The smile vanished from Shen Hua’s face.
“The Second Young Master has had an accident.”
Shen Hua sprang to his feet, “What happened?”
“Early this morning, A’er said the Second Young Master was feeling unwell, and just now, he suddenly fell ill and has been taken to the Examination Room,” Ada explained, “However, Dr. Kesen said the situation doesn’t look good.”
“How could that be? Wasn’t Ayan just fine?” Jian Wei feigned a tense expression, lifting the covers as if she was about to get out of bed.
“Weiwei, wait here, I’ll go and see what’s going on,” Shen Hua stopped her, his voice steady.
Then, he quickly left the room, with Ada following behind him.
