Chapter 892: 878, I will pursue my woman myself (1) Chapter 892: 878, I will pursue my woman myself (1) A familiar voice arose, and Zhan Mingyan’s eyes widened sharply.

Was she hallucinating?

Lin Yi looked towards the source of the voice and saw the newcomer, his eyes hiding his surprise, “Who are you?”

The man was dressed in white casual clothes with slightly disheveled inky short hair. His handsome features were sharp, and he carried an air of arrogant unrestraint with every move he made.

He glanced at Zhan Mingyan and, seeing the surprise on her face, his lips curled up, “I’m Zhan Mingyan’s boyfriend, my name is Bai Jue!”

Boyfriend?

Lin Yi was petrified, looking at Zhan Mingyan with confusion, “Mingyan, you—”

Before he could finish, Zhan Mingyan cut him off, saying, “Lin Ge, sorry, he’s just an ordinary friend of mine. He likes to joke around like this, you don’t need to take it seriously.”

“I see,” Lin Yi adjusted his glasses and turned his head to look at Bai Jue, “Nice to meet you. I’m Lin Yi. Since Mr. Bai is a friend of Mingyan’s, he’s also a friend of mine.”

Bai Jue pulled out a chair and sat down as if he were right at home.

“What are you doing here?” Zhan Mingyan asked the person who had sat down beside her, her voice lowered, “Get out of here, now.”

Damn it, how did this guy know she was here?

Haven’t he said he wouldn’t bother her again? What a liar.

Bai Jue smiled wryly, leaning in close to her, “What’s the matter, are you afraid I’ll be the third wheel?”

Zhan Mingyan glared at him, “If you know, then please get lost.”

“Then roll out with me,” he said.

Letting her dine alone with another man here was out of the question.

“Bai Jue, what the hell are you up to?” Zhan Mingyan asked, somewhat exasperated at his shameless behavior.

Across from them, Lin Yi, watching their close interaction, had a shadow flicker in the depths of his eyes. He met Bai Jue’s gaze with a slight smile.

“Mr. Lin, right?” Bai Jue leaned back, crossed his legs, and exuded a carefree dandyish charm.

Lin Yi replied, “Mm, just call me Lin Yi.”

“You don’t mind if I join you two for the meal, do you?” Bai Jue’s lips held a faint smile as he asked cheerfully.

As the saying goes, do not slap the hand that’s extended with a smile.

Lin Yi glanced at Zhan Mingyan and was about to say he didn’t mind, when Zhan Mingyan interjected, “Sorry, Lin Ge, I need to talk to him for a moment, just wait here a second.”

Bai Jue cocked his head to look at her, a twinkle of mischief flashing in his eyes as he glanced at Lin Yi.

Lin Yi nodded, and Zhan Mingyan pulled Bai Jue up with a stern expression, “Come outside with me.”

Bai Jue let her pull him along, “Slow down, don’t trip.”

What was with this gentle tone?

Zhan Mingyan, without looking back, said, “Shut up.”

Lin Yi watched their retreating figures disappear at the entrance, withdrew his gaze, and rested his chin on one hand, deep in thought.

Having pulled Bai Jue into the corridor and seeing no one around, Zhan Mingyan let go of his hand, “Bai Jue, how did you know I was here?”

Only her mother knew she was coming here. Had her mother tipped him off?

“You told me,” Bai Jue leaned against the wall and looked at her with a half-smile, “Is that guy just now someone you’re meeting for a blind date?”

“When did I tell you?” Zhan Mingyan glared at him angrily, ignoring his latter question.

Bai Jue shrugged, his tone playful, “We’re telepathically linked, so I just knew. So, were you on a blind date just now?”

“None of your business,” Zhan Mingyan fumed.

“Then I’ll help you vet him,” Bai Jue said leisurely.

“No need,” Zhan Mingyan said icily, “Bai Jue, didn’t we already clear things up that day? Why do you have to bother me again?”

Bai Jue’s eyes darkened, “Did we? I don’t seem to remember that.”

Fuming, Zhan Mingyan’s face flushed red, and she turned and walked back to the private room. After just two steps, she heard footsteps behind her. She took a deep breath and turned around.

“Why are you following me?”

“To have dinner,” Bai Jue said with a smile, his hands in his pockets. “I think that Mr. Lin is a decent guy. I plan on getting to know him.”

“Since you said that Brother Lin is a good person, I might as well consider it,” Zhan Mingyan retorted, lifting her chin to suppress her anger.

At her words, Bai Jue’s handsome face suddenly darkened, and the smile on his lips disappeared completely.

“Consider what?”

“A boyfriend.” Upon successfully seeing him scowl, Zhan Mingyan felt the frustration in her chest dissipate.

Before she finished speaking, Bai Jue narrowed his eyes, and the dangerous aura around him intensified.

“So, you two are on a blind date?”

Zhan Mingyan nodded, “That’s right, any problem with that?”

“Of course,” Bai Jue stepped forward, closing the distance between them, and Zhan Mingyan instinctively moved back.

However, she was a moment too slow.

The man’s iron arm hooked around her slender waist, pulling her into his embrace. Her cheek, lightly brushed with makeup, collided with his chest, and the sound of his steady and powerful heartbeat echoed in her ears.

Realizing their position was somewhat ambiguous, Zhan Mingyan hastily tried to push him away.

“Bai Jue, you…”

Her words were cut short as the man grasped her chin with one hand, and, under her stunned gaze, slowly lowered his head.

Then, his cool lips landed on hers, and the abrupt kiss made her eyes widen in surprise.

Eye to eye, the frost in Bai Jue’s dark pupils gradually melted away.

Zhan Mingyan was dazed by the kiss. By the time she came to her senses, the man’s hot tongue had invaded her mouth, forcefully stealing her breath away.

A flicker of anger crossed her eyes. She tilted her head back to avoid his advances and pushed him away with all her might.

“Bai Jue, you bastard!”

She swung her hand back and slapped him. Bai Jue didn’t dodge, allowing her to vent her frustration.

“Slap—”

The crisp sound of the slap echoed down the hallway. Zhan Mingyan paused, looking at her somewhat numb hand, then raised her eyes to see a red handprint on the man’s sharply contoured side face. She panicked.

Why didn’t he dodge?

Bai Jue looked at her with a smile in his eyes, “Calmed down?”

“Mingyan, you guys…”

Lin Yi’s voice came from behind. Bai Jue looked up at him, not at all embarrassed about the fiery slap mark being seen by others.

Zhan Mingyan bit her lip, already regretting agreeing to her mother’s request to come here today.

“Mingyan, your phone was ringing. Since you didn’t come back, I came out to look for you,” Lin Yi said, holding her phone, looking at Zhan Mingyan’s back.

Zhan Mingyan turned around, walked quickly to him, and took her phone back, “I’m sorry, Brother Lin, I have to go for another matter. I’ll treat you to a meal next time,” she said.

Without waiting for Lin Yi’s response, she hurried away.

“Hey, Mingyan!” Lin Yi tried to follow her, but Bai Jue’s tall figure blocked his path. He looked up and saw it was Bai Jue.

“Mr. Bai, what do you mean by this?”

Bai Jue gave a faint smile, the slap mark still evident on his face but not diminishing his good looks, “Mr. Lin, I can pursue my own woman, so I won’t trouble you with that.”
