Chapter 888: 874. Planning Something (3) Chapter 888: 874. Planning Something (3) “Send her back,” Jian Qing said, glancing sidelong at An Man as he commanded.

Bai Jue snapped his fingers, and two bodyguards walked in from outside, heading straight for An Man.

“I don’t want to go back, let me go, I don’t want to go back,” An Man, seeing the two bodyguards approaching, twisted her body, attempting to run.

That hellish place, she didn’t want to go back there.

No matter how fast she ran, she couldn’t outrun the bodyguards. One on each side, they caught her and carried her out.

From afar, An Man’s screams could still be heard.

The sky was a clear azure, the sea shimmering with golden waves.

On the beach, the man faced the sea, as the ocean breeze blew, slightly disheveling his short hair.

After a while, he turned around and walked back under the umbrella.

A’er immediately handed him a glass of water, saying, “Second Young Master!”

“Has my brother been up to anything lately?” Shen Yan took a sip of water and asked.

“The eldest master has been sending Ada to Beijing frequently,” A’er reported.

“Have you found out what it’s about?”

“The specifics aren’t clear, but the eldest master has also been visiting M Country quite often recently, seeming to be plotting something.”

Hearing this, Shen Yan knitted his brows.

What is my brother doing in M Country?

“Specifically, which part of M Country?”

A’er replied, “The eldest master visited various branches of the group, most likely on business inspections.”

Business inspections?

Heh, his brother was not one to undertake such tasks. How could he suddenly start making frequent business inspections in M Country?

“A’er, keep a close watch on my brother and take good care of Jian Qing. The moment there’s any movement from my brother, notify me immediately,” Shen Yan instructed in a low voice.

“Yes,” A’er nodded respectfully.

“Second Young Master, there’s also this.”

He handed over an envelope, which Shen Yan took and opened to find photos of two little treasures inside.

Under the sunlight, the cherub faces of the two little treasures unfolded his tightly furrowed brows, bringing a faint smile to his lips.

He ran his hand over the photo of the two little treasures, his eyes softening.

What delightful little fellows!

“How has the old Mister Jian been lately?”

“The old Mister is in good health. To see Jian Qing’s children, he often makes trips to stay in Beijing,” A’er briefed.

On hearing that, Shen Yan let out a soft sigh, “That’s good; at least he won’t be so lonely.”

A’er, unable to suppress the doubt in his mind, voiced it, “Second Young Master, if you are so worried about the Jian family getting hurt, why don’t you disclose any news of the eldest master’s whereabouts to Jian Qing?”

If Jian Qing knew the eldest master’s whereabouts, at least he wouldn’t be so passive, always in danger.

Shen Yan gave a self-deprecating smile, a haze clouding his eyes, “A’er, I understand what you mean, but I can’t. No matter how bad he is, to me, he has always been the best brother, the closest family. I cannot betray him, and Jian Qing, as well as Jian Luo, even the old Mister Jian, they are the people I most owe in this life. My brother has harmed them, and I must make amends for his sins.”

What mattered most was that Jian Qing and the others were the most important people to ‘her’, and he had to honor the promise he made to her, to protect the ones she loved.

“But, Second Young Master, if one day the eldest master and Jian Qing truly face each other head-on, have you thought about which side you would stand on?” A’er pressed further.

One side was his dear brother; the other side, people he owed. He had to choose between them.

Actually, the answer to this question had been in Shen Yan’s heart all along; he would choose to help Jian Qing simply because she was Jian Wei’s child.

“A’er, unless I’m dead, I will spare no effort to protect the Jian family’s people. As for my elder brother, if he dies, I’ll accompany him in death,” he declared.

He couldn’t betray his elder brother, but he also couldn’t bear to see Jian Qing get hurt; so, all he could do was pray that Jian Qing would soon find his brother’s whereabouts.

Hearing this, A’er fell silent.

“A’er, prepare the plane. I’m leaving the island,” Shen Yan said as he gazed at the endless sea, deep in thought.

“Second Young Master, where are you going?”

“M Country.”

His elder brother couldn’t possibly be visiting M Country so frequently for no reason unless he really was plotting something. He had to go and see for himself; otherwise, he would never be at peace.

Moreover, he had a strong premonition that something would happen on this trip to M Country, much like the time Awei had an accident long ago.

“Second Young Master, if you go to M Country, the eldest young master will discover it very soon,” A’er said worriedly.

Shen Yan waved his hand, “It’s alright, I’ll explain it to him myself when the time comes.”

“Okay, then I’ll start preparing now.”

“Wait.”

A’er stopped in his tracks, looking at him with puzzled eyes, waiting for what he would say next.

“Never mind, it’s nothing. Go ahead and prepare.” Whatever he had been about to say still remained unspoken.

A’er nodded and turned to leave.

Shen Yan sat on the lounge chair, deep in thought, looking down.

M Country, Beijing, what on earth was his elder brother planning to do?

Quan Family

The afternoon sun was fiercely bright and blinding, with summer insects and cicadas chirping, creating a distinctive atmosphere.

Inside the bedroom, where the light was dim, the air conditioning spread its cool breeze to every corner of the room, keeping out the harsh heat from outside.

On the bed, two figures lay intertwined, the woman’s slightly furrowed brows indicating her restless sleep. As she turned over, the man holding her immediately woke.

Quan Jingwu lowered his gaze to the person in his arms, clarity in his eyes. He leaned down to kiss her brow and reached out to pull up the blanket that had slipped off her.

“Thump—” The sound of a knock was very light and only echoed once.

Quan Jingwu carefully got out of bed, grabbed his robe to wear, and walked slowly to open the door.

Upon opening the door, Rhee stood outside, holding Nineteen in her arms.

“Jingwu, Nineteen was fussing to see you both. I had no choice but to bring him up,” Rhee whispered, seeing that Jian Qing was still asleep.

Quan Jingwu looked down at the little one in her arms. The toddler’s bright purple eyes stared back at him, his chubby little hand reaching out to him, asking to be held.

He chuckled hoarsely, lifting him up and gently patting his little bottom, “You little rascal.”

Seeing Quan Jingwu laugh, Nineteen also broke into a silly grin.

“Mom, where’s Seventeen?”

Rhee handed Quan Jingwu a milk bottle, saying, “Seventeen was just taken out by your dad; he’ll be back later. This is Nineteen’s milk; he’ll need to sleep after drinking it.”

Quan Jingwu nodded, Rhee closed the door behind her, then went downstairs.

“Nineteen, mommy is sleeping. Be good and don’t fuss,” Quan Jingwu said as he held him and sat down on the couch, bringing the bottle to his mouth so he could drink.

Seemingly understanding Quan Jingwu’s words, Nineteen settled in his arms and drank his milk contentedly, his plump little hands grabbing at his own tiny feet, thoroughly enjoying himself.
