Chapter 862 - 862 848 Just Because I Like Her (2)
Chapter 862: 848, Just Because I Like Her (2) Chapter 862: 848, Just Because I Like Her (2) Zhan Mingyan’s heartbeat missed half a beat, forcibly shifting her gaze away, “I don’t want to.”
He can chase whoever he wants, she cannot control it nor does she want to.
“Please let go of my hand.”
Bai Jue’s eyes darkened as he got straight to the point, “I am here for you.”
Zhan Mingyan was stunned for a moment, her struggling hand pausing as she looked at him with a wooden expression, unable to speak for a long time.
He was here for her?
Did she hear wrong, or did he misspeak?
He Min saw the surprise in Zhan Mingyan’s eyes, then turned to look at Bai Jue, feeling a bit melancholic.
“What, what did you say?” Zhan Mingyan collected herself, nearly biting her own tongue.
“The person I am looking for is you, so asking me to let go is impossible.” While speaking, Bai Jue’s large hand slid downwards, the warm palm enveloping her soft, boneless little hand, gripping it tightly.
Zhan Mingyan struggled to lower her head, looking at the large hand holding hers, unable to hide the astonishment in her eyes. What did he mean by this?
Unable to figure out Bai Jue’s thoughts, she lifted her head to look at Bai Jue with a somewhat dazed expression, “Bai Jue, what do you mean by this, why are you looking for me? What’s the matter?”
Bai Jue’s lips curved into a smile, his eyes reflecting the surprised expression of the woman, he responded with a non-answer, “From now on, you’re not allowed to dine alone with him, you’re not allowed to let him hold your hand, you’re not allowed to smile at him.”
Three prohibitions in a row made Zhan Mingyan’s head spin a bit.
She looked into his eyes with a bit of inquiry, “Are you feverish?”
“…”
Bai Jue’s mouth twitched.
Taking a deep breath, he gritted his teeth, “No.”
“Then why are you acting so nervously today?” she blurted out.
Not allowing this, not allowing that, what right did he have?
Remembering that he had rejected her confession twice before, Bai Jue reluctantly admitted defeat, “The words I just said are serious, you are not allowed to meet him alone anymore.”
He Min, whose name was mentioned, had a face as dark as iron, looking quite unpleasant.
He spoke before Zhan Mingyan could, “Bai Jue, by what right do you restrict Mingyan? In terms of friendship, I have known Mingyan longer, you are just a friend she hasn’t known for long, why such prohibitions on her meeting me?”
“Because I like her,” Bai Jue said coldly.
As his words ended, the air froze.
The surroundings fell silent, with only the sound of raindrops falling.
Zhan Mingyan lifted her head to look at the person beside her, her mind going blank.
After a long while, she finally found her voice, “Bai Jue, don’t make such jokes.” She would take them seriously.
Bai Jue said, “Would I joke about such a thing?”
“No, I don’t believe it,” Zhan Mingyan said, her mind in turmoil, breaking free from his grasp and swiftly running into the rain.
Thunder rumbled, and the rain showed no signs of stopping.
Bai Jue looked at the car approaching her and his handsome face changed. He threw aside his umbrella and rushed over, pulling her back forcefully.
“Beep beep beep—”
The car’s horn sounds were slightly piercing. The car window rolled down, and the driver stuck out his head, “Are you blind when you walk, not caring for your life?”After cursing, the car window closed and the car drove away.
“Foolish woman, do you not realize how dangerous that was?” Bai Jue pinched her shoulder, a flicker of fear hidden deep in his eyes.
Zhan Mingyan looked at him blankly, looking at his hand on her shoulder, and like a startled rabbit, she dodged backwards.
Bai Jue’s hand froze in midair as he stared at her. “Zhan Mingyan, what’s wrong with you?”
She shook her head, her expression somewhat dazed, “I need to go back.”
“Wait.” Bai Jue grabbed her hand. Both of them were drenched, looking like drowned rats.
“Come with me.”
The rain blurred her vision. Zhan Mingyan looked at his profile, trying to break free from his grasp, “Let me go, Bai Jue, let go.”
She didn’t want to be swayed by him anymore, she didn’t want her heart to be broken by him again, she wanted to be far away from him.
With a forceful shake, she actually broke free.
Bai Jue’s gaze darkened sharply as he picked her up and strode towards his car.
“Bai Jue, what are you doing, put me down.” She kicked wildly as the hand around her waist tightened even more.
“Bai Jue, didn’t you hear what Mingyan said?” He Min walked over, blocking Bai Jue’s path, “She wants to get down, you can’t force her to go with you.”
Bai Jue gave him a cold glance, a flash of iciness, “It’s not your place to comment on my affairs with her, step aside.”
“I won’t,” said He Min, unyielding, “If Mingyan willingly goes with you, I have nothing to say. But if you’re forcing her, then sorry, today I cannot let you take her away.”
Bai Jue’s presence changed, and a fierce air pervaded him.
“Oh my, what’s going on here?” The surprised voice came from the entrance. Quan Mingxuan and Han Yue looked at the three people confronting each other in the rain, completely baffled.
What kind of scene were they witnessing?
Han Yue held up an umbrella as Quan Mingxuan followed at his side, both approaching.
“Bai Jue, you two?” Seeing Zhan Mingyan in Bai Jue’s arms, Quan Mingxuan’s eyes twinkled with teasing mirth.
Seeing the two of them, the coldness in Bai Jue’s eyes faded, “Block him for me.”
As he spoke, he walked around to the other side of the car, opened the door, and shoved Zhan Mingyan inside. Before she could get out, the door was locked.
“Hey, Bai Jue…”
Zhan Mingyan’s voice, frustrated and angry, came from inside the car. He Min hurriedly moved to save her but was held back by Quan Mingxuan.
“Quan Mingxuan, you…”
Quan Mingxuan smiled faintly, “He Min, you’re a smart man. Let them settle their own issues. If you get involved, in the end, you might be the one who gets hurt the most.”
He Min’s steps halted, a shadow crossing his eyes.
“Thanks, brother.” Bai Jue waved at Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan and then slammed the car door shut.
The engine roared to life, and the white sports car shot off like an arrow, quickly disappearing into the hazy curtain of rain.
He Min watched the fading car, rooted to the spot.
“Take this.” Quan Mingxuan handed him an umbrella, then he and Han Yue drove off.
He Min gave a self-deprecating laugh, tossing his hand and leaving a somewhat desolate figure behind.
In the torrential rain, the umbrella twirled in the air, crashed to the ground, and splashed up drops of water.
Inside the car, Zhan Mingyan sat with her head bowed in silence.
Bai Jue cast a sidelong glance at her, took a towel from the car, stuffed it into her arms, and then turned on the car’s heater.
“Dry yourself off so you don’t catch a cold.”
Zhan Mingyan looked at the towel in her hands, her voice low, “Bai Jue, what do you really want? Do you have to turn my peaceful life upside down to be satisfied?”
Every time it was he who disturbed her peace of mind, and then he would casually walk away, leaving her alone to grapple with her troubles. Even if she was heartbroken, he could never fully comprehend her sadness.
Bai Jue’s gaze deepened, he turned the steering wheel, and pulled over to the side of the road.
