Chapter 863: 849, Show Your Sincerity (3) Chapter 863: 849, Show Your Sincerity (3) He turned his head to look at Zhan Mingyan, lifted her chin with his hand, forcing her to look up at him, “Zhan Mingyan, the words I’ve just spoken are not a joke; I like you.”

Zhan Mingyan gazed steadily at him, the mist in her eyes gathering. She bit her lip, holding back the tears from falling.

“I don’t want to listen, I don’t believe it.”

She brushed away his hand and turned around, curling up into a ball, her hands covering her ears.

Having been rejected by him twice, having felt pain twice was enough; she did not want to experience it a third time.

Bai Jue unbuckled her seatbelt and reached out to pull her hands towards him, forcing her to turn around. He then grabbed a towel to cover her head, gently wiping her damp hair.

Looking at the redness around her eyes, he softened his voice, “I’m sorry, it was my fault before, it was me being insensitive. You can hit me or punish me, just don’t avoid me anymore, okay?”

Meeting the tenderness in the depths of his eyes, the tears she had been holding back could no longer be contained. Her voice was hoarse, “Bai Jue, this kind of joke isn’t funny at all.”

The warmth of her tears fell on the back of his hand, scalding his heart. With callused fingers, he wiped away the tears from her face, “Idiot, I’m not joking with you.”

Before he could finish speaking, she fiercely pushed away his hand, her voice choked with sobs, “No, you are joking. I confessed to you twice, and each time you rejected me without hesitation. Now you tell me you like me, how can I believe you?”

“And that day on the island with that woman… I don’t want to talk about it anymore. Bai Jue, I can’t handle the kind of liking you’re offering.”

She clumsily wiped away her tears and sniffed.

The sorrow in the woman’s eyes, the accusatory words, stabbed harshly into Bai Jue’s heart. Having lived for more than twenty years, it was the first time he tasted regret.

He truly regretted having made her so sad and upset.

“I want to get out, open the door.” Zhan Mingyan tugged at the car door, desperate to escape the space that contained just the two of them.

Bai Jue stretched out his strong arm, grabbed her hand, and pulled her into his embrace. Zhan Mingyan stumbled into his sturdy chest, the impact causing pain in her forehead.

“Zhan Mingyan, I apologize for the past. Give me a chance, let’s start over, okay?”

The rich voice was a gentle whisper in her ear.

Why didn’t he say these words earlier, instead of waiting until now?

Zhan Mingyan closed her eyes, tears staining her clothes, scorching Bai Jue’s heart, “No need, Bai Jue. I’m tired. Over these days, I’ve finally understood that you and I are from different worlds. How could two parallel lines ever intersect? From now on, let’s just be well on our own and not bother each other.”

He was just a passing breeze; even if she were with him now, they might still end up parting ways in the future, and the pain would be unbearable for her.

“What does it matter if we have beautiful memories rather than a lifetime together?” That’s all nonsense. If you’ve ever owned, how could you possibly bear to let go?

Besides, with countless close female friends around him, she refused to share him with them. She didn’t want that.

Bai Jue’s eyes darkened, and he tightened the hand that was around her waist, “I won’t allow it, Zhan Mingyan. I was an asshole in the past. If you’re tired, then let me be the one to chase you.”

She entered his world and stirred his heart, so now how could he possibly let her go? He wouldn’t allow it.

Zhan Mingyan was silent, pushing him away with her hand, “I want to go back.”

Looking at her wet clothes, Bai Jue pressed his thin lips together, aware that he couldn’t pressure her too much right now. There would be plenty of time in the future to win her back.

He took off his coat and draped it over her, then started the car and drove away.

Having visited the Zhan Family once, Bai Jue walked her to the door but did not drive inside.

“Go inside, take a hot bath, and get some sleep.” Bai Jue touched her head with his hand and held down the coat on her body, not letting her take it off.

Unable to resist him and with the guards watching at the gate, Zhan Mingyan quickly went inside still wearing his coat.

Watching her walk away, Bai Jue finally got in the car and left.

Shijin Haoting

In the living room, a black suitcase was carelessly thrown next to the sofa.

Jian Luo sat cross-legged on the sofa, unwrapping beautifully packaged chocolate. Beside him, Black Jack watched with a doting gaze, a faint smile curling at the corners of his mouth.

“Didn’t you say you brought gifts for Seventeen and the others?” Jian Luo asked while eating chocolate.

Black Jack pointed to the suitcase thrown aside, “It’s in there.”

“Let’s go see Seventeen and the rest tomorrow, and we can take the gifts to them then,” Jian Luo said.

Black Jack nodded, “What about Bai Jue?”

“Him? He finally saw the light, went off in search of his future wife.”

As he finished speaking, the sound of the door opening came from the vestibule.

Jian Luo and Black Jack looked up in unison, catching sight of Bai Jue’s disheveled appearance.

“Bai Jue, did you fall into a ditch?” Jian Luo exclaimed in surprise.

He was soaked from head to toe. Doesn’t he have an umbrella in his car?

Black Jack glanced at him, his thin lips curling slightly, “We’ll talk about it later. You should go change into dry clothes first.”

Judging from his state, it looked like he had been rebuffed.

Bai Jue nodded, dragging his feet up the stairs.

Watching his figure disappear into the staircase, Jian Luo leaned closer to Black Jack and lowered his voice, “What happened?”

Wasn’t he all geared up for battle when he left?

“What do you think?” Black Jack smirked, enjoying the misfortune.

Jian Luo paused, then quickly got it and laughed unkindly.

It seemed Mingyan had given him a cold shoulder.

Before long, Bai Jue came down after washing up and changing his clothes.

Jian Luo poured him a glass of water and then sat back down beside Black Jack.

“Bai Jue, spill it, how did it go when you tried to catch her?”

Bai Jue pinched the bridge of his nose and briefly recounted what Zhan Mingyan had said.

After listening, Jian Luo couldn’t help but smirk, “Bai Jue, it’s your own fault for rejecting her declarations of love. Now the tables have turned, regretting it, are you?”

And to reject her twice, that’s practically shoving a willing wife out the door. Serves him right to be a single dog.

“Can you not take such delight in my misfortune and just help me think of a strategy?” Bai Jue said, annoyed.

“What can I do? Right now, you should be sincerely admitting your mistakes and use actions to prove you really like her, giving her a sense of security,” Jian Luo analyzed.

“Sense of security?” Bai Jue was puzzled.

The women he’d been with never needed any sense of security; it was always a casual affair.

Jian Luo gave him an exasperated look, “Mingyan is different from those women you were with before. If you want to win her back, you’d better not use your usual tricks that you do with other girls on her.”

“Then what should I do?” Bai Jue asked.

“You should ask yourself that, why ask me?” said Jian Luo. “It’s a matter between the two of you. Show your sincerity, and she will see it eventually.”

Bai Jue stroked his chin, lost in thought.

His sincerity!

What should he do?

Black Jack chimed in with a friendly reminder, “If you can’t think of anything right now, just hang around her every day, lest you give other men the chance to be attentive.”
