Chapter 861: 847, Grab back the person who belongs to him (1) Chapter 861: 847, Grab back the person who belongs to him (1) “He Min, haven’t I told you before that there’s no need to bring me things on purpose?” Zhan Mingyan said helplessly, “It’s too much trouble for you.”
He Min’s lips curled into a smile, his tone gentle, “It’s fine, I was passing by and bought you some things, no trouble at all.”
“Thank you.” Zhan Mingyan, feeling helpless, expressed her gratitude.
The kinder he was to her, the guiltier she felt. After pondering for several days, she had come to a realization, gratitude was not love, she couldn’t use him as a transition to forget Bai Jue.
“You go on with your work, I’ll wait here for you, and we can go to Qianshi Restaurant to eat together later,” He Min said.
“Mm.”
Zhan Mingyan gave a faint smile, turned around, and got busy with accounting work.
He Min found a spot on the sofa to sit down, Xiaoqing poured him a glass of water, and then walked away.
The sky gradually darkened, inky clouds pressed against the heavens, heavy as though they would fall, the encroaching darkness like a greedy demon seeking to devour the entire world.
In the living room, the television was on, but the person sitting on the sofa had no interest in watching it.
Bai Jue leaned back, raised a hand to pinch his brow, closed his eyes, and a delicate face danced in his mind.
“Bai Jue, I like you!”
“Bai Jue, actually, that day at the seaside, the words I said to you were sincere, I wasn’t joking with you.”
“I, Zhan Mingyan, have never liked a person as much as I do you, Bai Jue, except for you.”
The voice, clear as a lark’s, seemed to echo in his ears, twining around his heart like an enchanting tune, wrapping it bit by bit.
However, he couldn’t break free.
Jian Luo stood in the stairwell, looked down at the lifeless Bai Jue on the sofa, and a touch of smile lifted the corners of his mouth.
Ever since that day he got back from the restaurant, Bai Jue hadn’t gone to bars, nightclubs, and the like for several days in a row, which was unimaginable in the past.
After all, in their perception, Bai Jue was supposed to be carefree and unrestrained, rarely seen looking so despondent and downcast.
It seemed that Mingyan wasn’t the only one with unrequited love.
His footsteps light, Jian Luo walked down and sat opposite Bai Jue.
He curved his fingertips and tapped the tabletop, his voice smooth, “Bai Jue, you’ve been in deep thought for several days, have you come to any conclusions?”
If he still hadn’t seen clearly what his heart desired, Jian Luo would even despise him.
Bai Jue opened his eyes and glanced at him, remaining silent.
Seeing this, Jian Luo grabbed a throw pillow and tossed it at him, “Bai Jue, you just keep playing around. Wait until Mingyan and that Mr. He are together, and by the time their children can run errands, you’ll just be waiting to regret it.”
At these words, Bai Jue couldn’t help but recall the image of Zhan Mingyan and He Min laughing and talking in the restaurant, his gaze abruptly darkening.
He suddenly stood up, startling Jian Luo.
“What are you doing?”
Bai Jue grabbed the car keys from the table and walked briskly towards the door.
“Hey, Bai Jue, where are you going?” Jian Luo stood up and, watching his hurried figure, had a hunch.
Bai Jue opened the door, without turning his head, said, “To fetch someone.”
To fetch the person who belonged to him!
“Bang—”
The sound of the door slamming shut rose, Jian Luo’s lips curved in a smile.
He had finally come to his senses; it wasn’t easy at all.
The sky was overcast, the earth darkened, steady light rain was unceasing.
On the spacious road, a white sports car sped by, kicking up a spray of water.
Bai Jue controlled the steering wheel with one hand, the other holding a phone to his ear, “Have you found out?”
“Mmm, I understand now.”
The sound of rain hitting the car window mixed with the man’s magnetic voice.
After hanging up, Bai Jue stepped on the gas, and the speed surged.
The rain grew heavier, lightning flashed and thunder roared, and the steps of pedestrians on the street hastened.
Zhan Mingyan and He Min stepped out of the Qianshi Restaurant, and Zhan Mingyan smiled faintly, “He Min, thank you for today.”
He Min shook his head, noting the increasingly heavy rain, and said, “Wait here for me, I’ll get the car and give you a lift home.”
“No need, I can take a taxi. The rain won’t stop anytime soon, you should head back early too,” Zhan Mingyan declined.
He Min, “It’s fine, I’ll drop you off and then go home.”
Unable to decline further, Zhan Mingyan was about to nod when a roaring sound arose, splashing water and wetting the hem of her skirt.
She reflexively raised her hand to shield her face, and He Min stepped forward to protect her, “Mingyan, are you alright?”
“I’m fine.” She lowered her hand, looking up to see the limited-edition sports car firmly parked at the entrance, boldly catching everyone’s eye.
This car looked somewhat familiar to her, and she frowned slightly.
“How does that person drive?” He Min looked at his wet pant legs, then at Zhan Mingyan’s damp skirt hem, his face darkening as he glared fiercely at the white sports car.
Suddenly, Zhan Mingyan’s pupils constricted.
It was him!
Before she could react, the car door swung open, and long legs stepped out first.
“Boom boom boom—”
Like a silver dragon, lightning raced across the sky, illuminating the man’s sharply defined handsome face.
He Min watched the person emerge from the car, his gaze drifting to Zhan Mingyan, who watched Bai Jue in shock, his own expression dimming.
Bai Jue, holding an umbrella, ascended the steps in a few strides and approached Zhan Mingyan.
Their eyes met, and Zhan Mingyan collected herself, unable to hide her surprise, “You, why are you here too?”
Bai Jue lowered his gaze at her and lifted the corner of his lips slightly, “Looking for someone.”
“Oh.” Zhan Mingyan shifted her gaze away and turned to He Min, “He Min, let’s go.”
“Mmm.” He Min glanced at Bai Jue, then suddenly took Zhan Mingyan’s hand, opened the umbrella, and intended for both of them to share it.
“Let’s go.”
Zhan Mingyan, not sure what to think, didn’t pull her hand free and instead leaned closer to him.
Bai Jue watched their hands holding each other, which was especially irritating.
He abruptly grabbed Zhan Mingyan’s hand, his gaze shooting icily towards He Min, “Let go.”
“Heh, is Mr. Bai going to do the same as that day in the restaurant?” He Min met his gaze unafraid, his voice dripping with irony, “Mr. Bai, don’t forget, you and Mingyan have nothing to do with each other.”
“I said, let go,” Bai Jue stated with a steady voice.
He Min’s face grew stern, his grip on Zhan Mingyan tightening, “What if I don’t?”
In an instant, an intangible sense of gunpowder filled the air.
Zhan Mingyan, caught in the middle, sensed the curious glances from the passersby and felt both embarrassed and troubled.
“Both of you, let go of me,” Zhan Mingyan growled.
“Mingyan!” He Min looked at Zhan Mingyan, saw her distressed face, and slowly released his hold.
On the other hand, Bai Jue still held onto Zhan Mingyan’s hand, and as He Min let go, he pulled gently, bringing Zhan Mingyan to his side.
Zhan Mingyan steadied herself, her gaze angrily fixed on him, “Bai Jue, what on earth are you trying to do?” She had already rejected him, so why did he keep appearing before her again and again.
“Don’t you want to know who I’m here for?” Bai Jue looked down at her, his dark eyes sparkling with light.
