Chapter 847: 833, Blooming into a Smile (3) Chapter 847: 833, Blooming into a Smile (3) “What are you doing?” Li Sisi looked at the rope that had just been in her hands, now gone, and lifting her gaze, she saw Quan Yifei take away the rope, her face turning a purplish hue with anger.
“It’s so hot today, you should run around more inside, and by the way, wash that obsession of yours clean,” Quan Yifei said with a rope in hand and a smirk on her face.
“Yifei, let’s go,” Quan Mingxuan said.
“Coming,” Quan Yifei replied, clutching the rope and scurrying after Quan Mingxuan and the others as they left.
Having witnessed Bai Jue’s fierce behavior just moments earlier, nobody considered helping Li Sisi up, and they quickly dispersed to continue drinking and chatting.
“Ah, Bai Jue, Zhan Mingyan!” Li Sisi watched as everyone left, screaming hysterically.
Carrying Zhan Mingyan back to her room, Bai Jue encountered her parents right at the doorway.
“Yanyan, what happened to you, why are you soaked through?” Lu Hui’s face tightened with concern upon seeing her daughter being carried back, especially given that both of them were drenched.
“Dad, Mom,” Zhan Mingyan, seeing her parents as if they were saviors, pushed Bai Jue, urging him to put her down.
Zhan Ze’s brows furrowed as he looked at the man holding his daughter.
“Uncle, Aunt,” Bai Jue said as he set her down, smiling politely.
Zhan Ze nodded and stepped forward to pull Zhan Mingyan behind him protectively.
“Yanyan, why are you all wet, did you go to the beach to play?” Lu Hui asked.
“It’s okay, I’ll just change clothes,” Zhan Mingyan reassured.
After speaking, she turned her head towards Bai Jue, “You can go now.”
Bai Jue nodded and after exchanging greetings with Zhan Ze, he left.
Lu Hui opened the door and pulled Zhan Mingyan inside, “Yanyan, did something happen?”
Years of understanding between mother and daughter meant Lu Hui did not believe Zhan Mingyan’s words that nothing was wrong.
“Nothing, I’ll go change and then we can talk,” Zhan Mingyan brushed off the question and hurriedly took some clothes to the bathroom.
“Aze, the person just now is the one who brought Yanyan back last time,” Lu Hui turned and asked Zhan Ze.
“That’s him?” Zhan Ze raised an eyebrow.
Lu Hui nodded, moving closer to him and said with a chuckle, “I actually think that young man is quite good.”
“You’re just looking at his good looks, right?” Zhan Youyou commented.
Lu Hui lightly slapped Zhan Ze’s shoulder, chiding with a smile, “What are you saying?”
After taking a shower and changing clothes, Zhan Mingyan had just lain down in bed when Bai Jue arrived.
Ever since the last time Bai Jue brought Zhan Mingyan home, Lu Hui’s fondness for Bai Jue had grown significantly.
Seeing him, she quickly invited him in, “Come in, have a seat.”
Bai Jue smiled politely, walked in and upon seeing Zhan Ze, he said warmly, “Uncle.”
Zhan Ze nodded, and Bai Jue quickly walked over to Zhan Mingyan’s bedside, relieved to see some color returning to her face, “How are you feeling, is there still any discomfort anywhere?”
“I’m fine now, you can leave,” Zhan Mingyan said, her voice cool and detached.
“Yanyan, how can you be so impolite,” Lu Hui reprimanded, tapping her on the head and looking apologetically at Bai Jue, “I’m sorry, she’s been spoiled by me.”
Bai Jue shook his head and offered a faint smile, “It’s fine, Aunt.”
He looked down at Zhan Mingyan, shifting his gaze to her ankle, where the bruising had not yet faded.
Seating himself at the bedside, he reached for her foot, which Zhan Mingyan attempted to dodge, but he managed to grasp it first.
“Don’t move.”
“Let go.” Zhan Mingyan, noticing her parents still standing aside, a trace of embarrassment flashed in her eyes.
“Keep moving, and you’ll be lying in a hospital for a few days,” Bai Jue said, inspecting her ankle as he pulled out a small medicine bottle from his pocket.
“Young man, are you a doctor too?” Lu Hui, standing nearby, asked with surprise upon seeing Bai Jue’s actions.
“Yeah,” Bai Jue replied as he applied the medicine to Zhan Mingyan’s ankle and self-deprecatingly added, “A quack doctor.”
Zhan Mingyan watched the large hands rubbing her ankle, the calloused hands against her skin causing a tingling sensation. She glanced up slightly to see the man’s handsome profile bathed in a soft glow.
The fragrant ointment, with a faint floral scent, felt cool on her wound, very soothing.
“How does it feel, a little better?” Bai Jue withdrew his hand and asked.
His gentle voice, damnably pleasant to the ear.
Zhan Mingyan avoided his gaze, barely audible as she murmured in agreement.
“I’m fine now, you can go,” she declared.
“The fellow came all the way to help you with your medicine, Yanyan, why are you in such a hurry to send him away?” Lu Hui came over with a glass of water and handed it to Bai Jue.
“At least let him have a glass of water before leaving.”
“Thank you, Auntie,” Bai Jue said as he took the water glass, smiling gratefully.
Lu Hui looked at him with a gleam in her eyes and satisfaction spreading across her face, as if she were a mother-in-law increasingly pleased with her son-in-law, “No need to thank me.”
“Mom, I need to talk to him about something,” Zhan Mingyan said, finding her mother’s continued adoring gaze on Bai Jue to be somewhat speechless.
Understanding her, Lu Hui smiled knowingly at Zhan Mingyan, winking and saying, “I just remembered your dad and I have something to take care of, you two chat.”
With that, she gave Zhan Ze a look, yet he remained fixated on Bai Jue, completely oblivious to the hints she was sending his way.
Zhan Ze watched Bai Jue with a wary eye, as if on guard against a wolf, with his daughter as the little lamb.
Lu Hui smiled sheepishly at Bai Jue and went over to pull Zhan Ze out of the room.
“Why are you pulling on me?” asked Zhan Ze in confusion.
“I need to talk to you about something,” Lu Hui said as she led him out of the room.
The door closed, leaving only Bai Jue and Zhan Mingyan alone together.
Unable to bear the strange silence, Zhan Mingyan was the first to speak, “Thanks for rescuing me today. If there’s nothing else, you can go now, and let’s try not to cross paths again in the future.”
Hearing this, the smile at the corner of Bai Jue’s mouth faded, “I apologize for today’s incident. Since you fell in the sea because of me, it’s only natural that I take responsibility until your ankle is fully healed.”
Zhan Mingyan frowned, “That’s not necessary, you saved me today, we’re even, you can go now.”
Bai Jue leaned in close to her, his voice low, “Zhan Mingyan, are you still angry with me?”
“No, why would I be angry with you? I’m not idle with nothing better to do,” Zhan Mingyan retorted stubbornly, hastily issuing him to leave.
“You can go now; I’m tired, I want to sleep.”
