Chapter 802: 788. So sweet it makes your teeth sour (2) Chapter 802: 788. So sweet it makes your teeth sour (2) Jian Luo gave him a disdainful look and ignored him.
“Anyway, Black Jack isn’t here, if I don’t tell and you don’t tell, he’ll never know,” Bai Jue continued to tempt.
Jian Luo looked at him with a peculiar expression, “Bai Jue, do you really hope I get into trouble?”
Every time he went to the nightclub, Black Jack always caught him red-handed, and then he would miserably suffer the consequences.
Bai Jue shrugged his shoulders and showed an innocent smile, “What are you talking about? The world is so big, I just want to take you out for a good time as your good friend.”
“You better go enjoy yourself alone,” Jian Luo flatly rejected him.
He didn’t want to relive the memory of being caught by Black Jack at Dihao last time, not to mention he never liked going to places like nightclubs anyway.
Bai Jue, “You’re such a killjoy.”
Suddenly, footsteps sounded at the entrance, and both of them looked over.
Quan Jingwu strode in holding Jian Qing, with his coat over her, suggesting she had fallen asleep.
“Yo, finally decided to come back?” Bai Jue teased with a sneaky tone.
Jian Luo sized up Quan Jingwu, noticing his radiant appearance, and the corners of his mouth lifted into a faint smile, “Quan Jingwu, where did you take my sister, and why did you leave Snowball at the flower shop?”
“Howl—” Snowball rubbed against Quan Jingwu’s trouser leg, its bright eyes fixed on him, a far cry from its previous listless demeanor.
Master, look at me, look at me!
Quan Jingwu glanced down at it, his crimson lips curling slightly.
Seeing his smile, Snowball’s spirit rippled.
Master smiled at it, yay.
Just as it was about to joyfully howl, Quan Jingwu doused it with a bucket of cold water.
“Go play over there.”
At that, Quan Jingwu carried Jian Qing upstairs.
It had been a long time since Jian Qing had a peaceful sleep, and even the voices of Bai Jue and the others didn’t wake her up; she quietly nestled in his embrace.
“…”
Snowball watched Quan Jingwu’s retreating figure with longing eyes, as if it were on the verge of grabbing a handkerchief to bite on.
Jian Luo glanced at it and a soft chuckle escaped his lips.
Shortly after, Quan Jingwu came back downstairs.
“Hurry up, all the equipment is ready for a check-up, then I’ll be out of your hair and won’t intrude on you lovebirds,” said Bai Jue as he got up.
Quan Jingwu dove into the kitchen without looking back, “Wait a minute.”
“Hey, I’ve been waiting for you for several hours,” complained Bai Jue in frustration.
Jian Luo laughed in schadenfreude, “What’s the rush, the beauty won’t run away.”
Obviously, Quan Jingwu was going to cook for his sister; Bai Jue was so clueless.
Bai Jue glared at him, “Get lost.”
“I do need to get going; I have a mountain of paperwork waiting for me at the company,” Jian Luo stretched lazily, “Why don’t you come over later and give me a hand?”
Bai Jue laughed in disbelief, “Keep dreaming, go find your Black Jack.”
Finally, he could go out and have fun, he didn’t want to be dragged down to do mundane work.
Jian Luo scoffed, stood up, and left.
As he reached the door, he paused, turned around to look at Snowball, and called out to it, “Snowball, want to come with me?”
Snowball scratched its fur, then scurried over to Jian Luo with a prance.
Both his master and the beauty were so unconscionable.
The Wolf King had his pride, and he decided to run away from home.
Jian Luo bent down to pat its fluffy head and left with it.
In a blink, Bai Jue was left alone in the living room again.
He collapsed onto the sofa, emitting a sigh of utter despair.
When will he ever get to wander freely?
By the time Quan Jingwu emerged from the kitchen, half an hour had passed. As soon as he came out, Bai Jue stuck to him like a wolf to meat, urging him to let him finish the check-up quickly.
In the evening, the setting sun cast a soft glow through the bed canopy, becoming hazy and enchanting.
Jian Qing opened her eyes and instinctively reached for the space beside her.
The cold touch jolted her to full consciousness.
Seeing the empty bed, her expression changed slightly, and a flicker of panic crossed her eyes. She threw off the covers, got out of bed, and ran out without bothering to put on shoes, her bare feet slapping against the floor.
“Xiaojing, Xiaojing…”
Descending the staircase, she kept calling out as she went.
The living room was brightly lit, but no one was in sight.
Jian Qing’s face turned pale, and she staggered slightly.
Could it all have been just a dream?
“Thud thud thud.”
The sound of steady footsteps echoed in the stairwell.
Tearing her gaze back, Jian Qing went blank when she saw the approaching figure, then her lips curled into a relieved smile.
It wasn’t a dream after all.
He had truly awakened; her King Jingwu had returned.
“What’s wrong? Why did you run downstairs without wearing shoes?” Quan Jingwu, seeing her pale feet, frowned slightly and asked softly.
Jian Qing buried herself in his embrace, her voice muffled as she said, “I thought you hadn’t woken yet. I thought it was just a dream.”
Quan Jingwu’s eyes hardened, his hands deftly lifting hers onto his feet. His jaw rested on her shoulder, his magnetic voice buzzing in her ear, carrying strands of warm breath.
“Silly girl!”
Jian Qing’s eyes curved, her lips forming a restrained smile.
Bai Jue, hands in his pockets, looked on at the cloyingly sweet couple, shaking his head with amusement.
Even these invincible figures in the eyes of others had such a childish side to them.
He made his footsteps lighter and quietly withdrew.
“I made you some food. Do you want to eat?” Quan Jingwu asked, lifting her in his arms, nuzzling her nose with his head lowered, his brows and eyes brimming with laughter.
“Yes.” Jian Qing wrapped her arms around his neck, her voice bright and cheery.
Quan Jingwu carried her towards the dining room, setting her down on a chair before turning to the kitchen. During this time, Jian Qing’s gaze clung to him.
Quan Jingwu brought out the meal and caught her clear eyes as he looked up, “Why keep staring at me, hm?”
She propped her chin with one hand, her eyes sparkling with mirth, “Just feel like looking at you.”
“Hehe!”
Quan Jingwu gave an indulgent laugh, propping his hands on the table and leaning in closer to her, stealthily stealing a kiss on her tender cheek.
“Have some soup first. I’ll go get you some porridge.”
“Mhm.”
Jian Qing took the bowl and drank the soup while watching his busy figure.
The rich soup spread its familiar taste on her palate, making her smile.
He was awake, and that was truly wonderful!
Quan Jingwu brought the porridge and sat down beside her. Watching her finish the soup, he took a spoon and started to feed her porridge.
“Xiaojing, I can do it. You should eat quickly,” she said, reaching for the spoon in his hand.
Quan Jingwu dodged her hand, “You eat first; I’ll eat later.”
“That won’t do, the food will get cold,” Jian Qing insisted. “Let’s eat together.”
She picked up a pair of chopsticks and lifted a piece of meat to his mouth. Quan Jingwu, with no other choice, ate it with a helpless smile, “Are you satisfied now?”
“Mhm mhm.”
The two of them exchanged a smile, the air filled with pink bubbles, so sweet it could make one’s teeth ache.
