Chapter 729: 715, She Must Have Drunk Too Much (2)_1 Chapter 729: 715, She Must Have Drunk Too Much (2)_1 At the bar nearby, Zhan Mingyan sat with her legs crossed. Dressed differently from others who were in trendy and racy outfits, she was in black pants and a white shirt, topped with a leather jacket, simple and smart.
She twirled the cocktail in her hand, taking just small sips.
“Mingyan, come join us,” Sanny, who was in the dance pool, spotted Zhan Mingyan sitting alone at the bar and waved at her, calling out loudly.
“Come quickly.”
As Sanny was insistently inviting, Zhan Mingyan did not want to be a spoilsport. She put down her glass, hopped off the stool and stepped into the dance floor in a pair of black high heels.
“Mingyan, when you’re here, you should relax and have fun. Don’t just stand there,” Sanny stopped dancing and leaned into her ear.
“Come on, I’ll dance with you.”
She took hold of Zhan Mingyan’s hands, her waist starting to sway like a snake.
Zhan Mingyan looked at the people dancing freely around her, their radiant smiles, and couldn’t help but be affected by their jovial atmosphere, starting to dance along with Sanny.
Although she often spent time in the troops, dancing was not challenging for her. When she was at school, she and Quan Yifei often partied together, but that decreased when she went abroad for further studies.
Almost everyone present had Western features while Zhan Mingyan’s Eastern face naturally attracted attention.
Her fair skin and sweetly made-up features exuded an elegance associated with ladies from aristocratic families.
Many young single men intentionally or unintentionally moved towards her, hoping to ask her to dance. Sanny smiled faintly and moved aside to give these single men a chance to charm the beauty.
“Miss Zhan, might I have the pleasure of a dance with you?” a blond man was the first to speak, extending his hand towards Zhan Mingyan in gentlemanly manner.
“Miss Zhan, may I have the honour of a dance with you?” another man invited without wanting to be left out.
Zhan Mingyan paused, noticing Sanny winking at her from the corner of her eye. She flashed an helpless look, then turned to see two hands extended towards her. She smiled politely and replied, “Sorry, I’m a bit tired. Sorry.”
Having said that, she slowly left the dance floor and returned to the bar.
Soon after, Sanny came over and sat down next to her.
The bartender passed her a drink, which she picked up and took a sip.
“Why did you come here, Sanny? Don’t you have to accompany your husband?” Zhan Mingyan lifted her glass for a toast and asked.
“He has a few friends coming over. He went outside to pick them up,” Sanny replied.
The two were very familiar with each other, and Zhan Mingyan didn’t hold back when joking, “Isn’t it one of his ex-girlfriends?”
“Some friends he used to race with. One of them is his idol.” Sanny swirled the wine glass and winked at her with a smile.
“Even if his ex-girlfriend comes, I don’t really care. I mean, look at me, I have both, the body and the face. Moreover, it’s me who married him, so what do I have to be afraid of?”
Zhan Mingyan burst into laughter and gave her a thumbs up.
“I’ve met his friends once. They’re all quite handsome and the one Gerson idolises is even more attractive. You might want to consider them. If you’re interested, Gerson and I can create an opportunity for you.” Sanny bumped her shoulder playfully.
“How do you say it in China? Matchmaking, right? Did I say it correctly?”
Zhan Mingyan held her forehead and replied, “Forget it, matchmaking isn’t for you. Just go and do it for your bridesmaids.”
She hadn’t forgotten that Sanny tried to set her up with someone during their school days. It was such a disaster that it left her traumatized about Sanny’s matchmaking.
Sanny burst into laughter, picked up her drink and drained it in one gulp. Her eyes caught sight of a group of people coming upstairs. She patted Zhan Mingyan’s shoulder and said, “There they are, over there. Have a look.”
“Isn’t that just your husband? I’ve met him before. Why are you getting so excited?” Zhan Mingyan looked in the direction Sanny was pointing and noticed Gerson leading the group.
“No, look at the last one, the man in white casuals.” Sanny pointed excitedly.
“That guy is a phenomenal racer. He’s awesome.”
Following her pointed finger, Zhan Mingyan’s gaze touched the man Sanny was referring to, and she was stunned into silence.
He, why is he here?
That can’t be right. No, it must be because I’ve drunk too much. How could he possibly be in Switzerland?
Yes, I’ve definitely had too much to drink.
Quickly turning her head, she asked the bartender for a glass of ice water, and then drank it hurriedly.
The ice water was soon gone and she put down the glass, slapping her cheeks to come to her senses.
Get a hold of yourself, Zhan Mingyan. How could such a coincidence happen? How could he be also in Switzerland, and at this bar?
“Mingyan, are you okay? You don’t seem well.” Sanny turned around to find her chugging ice water, and asked with concern.
“No, I was just thirsty.” Zhan Mingyan replied.
“Sanny, we’re here. Come join us for a drink.”
Gerson’s voice sounded from behind them.
“Sure.” With that, Sanny grabbed Zhan Mingyan’s hand, “Mingyan, let’s go together.”
Zhan Mingyan tensed up, turning to look back at where she had just been looking only to find that the familiar face was gone. She felt both relieved and a bit disappointed.
“Hmm.”
Gerson led the two of them to another bar nearby where a group of young men and women were chatting and laughing, the clinking sound of glass on glass echoing around them.
“The bride is here, let’s toast to the newlyweds,” one of the men Gerson had brought along suggested.
“Onel, can’t you ease off on teasing us just once on my wedding day?” Sanny greeted everyone with familiarity, picked up her wine glass to toast with them.
“Don’t drink too much, a single night can be worth a thousand gold coins, you know what I mean,” Gerson joked, with his arm around Sanny, and finished his drink in one gulp.
“We don’t know, after all, we don’t have girlfriends,” the man nearest to Gerson quipped, “Am I right, guys?”
“Yeah, single dogs like us who don’t have girlfriends wouldn’t understand.” The others echoed, everyone burst out laughing; Gerson and Sanny shared a knowing smile.
“By the way, I thought Whiteshore was with us? Where did he go?” A man nearby asked curiously.
“Over there,” Gerson pointed to the right.
“Whiteshore’s arrival just stole all our thunder,” Gerson’s friend pretended to be bitter.
Whiteshore?
Zhan Mingyan felt a jolt. Could it really be that she hadn’t just imagined it earlier?
Had that peacock really come here?
She held her breath and looked in the direction everyone was turning to, seeing a crowd of young ladies huddled together.
She got up on her tiptoes, her gaze passing over them, and saw clearly the man they were all surrounding. His handsome face wore a mischievous smile that she recognized all too well.
