Chapter 668: 654, No Regrets (2)_1 Chapter 668: 654, No Regrets (2)_1 “Jian Luo, we meet again.”

Jian Luo nodded, his smile gentle.

“Please sit.”

Ena led them in and then promptly left.

Lis strode over in her high heels and took a seat on a sofa.

Suddenly, the living room fell into an awkward silence.

Lis glanced at the two men sitting so close to each other and then smirked softly, “Seems like I have come at the wrong time, have I interrupted you two?”

Black Jack wanted to nod, but held back his agreement due to the presence of someone nearby.

Jian Luo rested his chin on his hand, calmly replying, “No, you’re not interrupting.”

“Lis, is there something you needed today?” Sensing the tense atmosphere, Black Jack was unable to hold back his question.

He hadn’t forgotten how the last time due to Lis’ intervention, they nearly broke up. He could not allow the same mistake to happen again, because without his wife, to whom would he go crying?

Jian Luo cast him a glance without saying a word.

Lis gave a faint chuckle, took an invitation card from her bag, and placed it on the table, “In a few days, it will be my father’s birthday banquet, so I came here to deliver the invitation, and also to visit Aunt Qiong An.”

Black Jack hummed in response and the room fell silent once again.

“Jian Luo, could I have a chat with you?” Lis turned towards Jian Luo and asked politely with a smile, “Just a few words. It won’t take up much of your time.”

Jian Luo cut in before Black Jack could reply, nodding, “Sure, let’s talk outside.”

Finishing his words, he swept away some wrinkles on his clothes and got up to leave.

Lis glanced at Black Jack, then followed Jian Luo out of the room.

Black Jack watched their departing figures with a razor-thin ripple spreading across his deep blue eyes.

The long corridor seemed to have no end.

Jian Luo abruptly stopped his steps, leaned back against a pillar, his tall figure exuding a casual yet languid ambiance.

Lis admired the man in front of her, as gentle as jade. Since childhood, he had been so, seemingly approachable yet distantly out of reach. If she hadn’t fallen for Black Jack first, she might have been smitten by him too.

Shaking her head as if to cast away the memory surfacing in her mind, she confessed, “Jian Luo, do you know, I’ve always envied you.”

Jian Luo crossed his arms, gazing off into the distance, quietly listening.

“Since childhood, I’ve been in the same school as Black Jack who has always been cold to everyone. Only Bai Jue was allowed to be close to him. I hoped that by being around him often, one day, he would also show me a gentle smile. But ever since you showed up at school, I’ve noticed that Black Jack always revolves around you. He’s happier than anyone else when you’re happy. Anything you want, he would give.”

“Jian Luo, every time I saw Black Jack buying chocolates for you, I felt so envious. I couldn’t comprehend why he was so nice to you, even more than one would be to a blood brother.”

Until Black Jack admitted his feelings for Jian Luo, then she finally understood that there’s another kind of emotion beyond friendship and kinship — love!

He is the one who Black Jack has liked since young, hence, Black Jack’s chocolates will always only be for him, because he is the one who resides in the core of his heart.

The pain of the past had diminished much for Lis.

She redirected her gaze to Jian Luo, forced out a smile, revealing shallow dimples on her cheeks, “Jian Luo, can you tell me, are you together with Black Jack?”

“Yes.” He nodded.

“That’s great!” Lis flashed a bright and cheerful smile, winking at him, “Losing to you, I acknowledge. If it had been someone else, I might not have let go so easily. I wish you two happiness.”

Jian Luo grinned slightly, “Thank you!”

“I’ve said all I needed to say. I’ll be leaving first.”

“Okay.”

Lis brushed back a loose lock of hair behind her ear, and turned to leave.

As she walked a few steps, she turned back around, smiled mysteriously and said, “Jian Luo, there’s actually something I’ve never told you.”

“What is it?” Jian Luo stared at her in confusion.

“Back then, the girls who gave you chocolates were all individually warned by Black Jack privately. He told them if they continued sending chocolates and love letters to you, he would send them to the hospital.” Lis could not hold back her laughter at the end.

What a petty and domineering man!

Left standing in shock, by the time Jian Luo came back to his senses, Lis had already walked far away.

“Black Jack, you immature jerk!” Jian Luo’s mellifluous voice trickled out from his lips, carrying an undertone of suppressed joy.

Turning back to return, halfway through the hall, he saw someone coming towards him.

“What are you doing here?” Jian Luo’s eyes flickered, the laughter at the corner of his mouth dissipated, as he purposely put on a stern face.

“Are you afraid I frightened her away?”

Annoyed, Black Jack gritted his teeth harder, “Luo Xiaobai, if you keep messing around, believe it or not I’ll deal with you right now!”

Jian Luo snorted, not showing the slightest fear. He quietly muttered, “I suddenly feel that our plan to get our marriage certificate can wait.”

“What?” Black Jack’s eyes narrowed, his hand grasping Jian Luo’s wrist. “Why? Give me a reason. Didn’t we agree to get the certificate after meeting my mother?”

“Why should there be so many questions? I just don’t want to go anymore.” Jian Luo replied with a poker face while stifling his laughter on the inside.

Black Jack stared at him sternly, “You can’t. You have promised me, so you can’t back out.”

“Whether or not you accept, I have decided. I won’t go.” Jian Luo retorted.

Black Jack stared at him, asking, “Did Lis tell you something?”

“She said you two had a past.” Jian Luo went along with his assumption, lying with a straight face.

“What past? I have no past with her, Jian Luo, are you trying to be stupid? You are my only past, there’s no room for anyone else in it.” Black Jack’s handsome face twisted in rage. He wished he could pry open Jian Luo’s skull and see what he was thinking.

“How would I know if what you’re saying is true or not?” Jian Luo pulled back his hand and calmly replied.

“Where is Lis?” In fury, Black Jack asked.

“She left.”

“I’m going to find her.”

In the heat of the moment, Black Jack missed the cunning spark in Jian Luo’s eyes.

Just as he was about to step out, Jian Luo’s voice resounded, “Still saying you have no past with her, yet you’re off to find her immediately.”

Black Jack pulled back his foot, a profound darkness knitting his brows.

Damn it, he turned around and stormed towards Jian Luo.

“What are you doing?”

Jian Luo was taken aback by his domineering aura and took a step back.

A smirk hooked up the corner of Black Jack’s lips. He grasped Jian Luo’s hand tightly and without another word, started pulling him away.

“Black Jack, what the hell are you doing?! Let go!”

Jian Luo was being dragged along, completely taken by surprise and almost tripped as a result.
