Chapter 1058: 1043. Locke Side Story (12) Chapter 1058: 1043. Locke Side Story (12) Forget it, just keep looking, I’ll definitely find him.
Crouching down, he searched the amusement park for Black Jack, using the skills he had honed from special training at headquarters for the first time in his life.
He rushed out so hectically that he not only forgot his scarf, but also left his coat at home.
He, who was naturally afraid of the cold, was now so frozen he might as well have been turning into a popsicle.
He hopped in place twice to warm himself up.
If it weren’t for the fact that it was night time, he would have wanted to shout out loud.
“Black Jack, where on earth are you hiding?” he muttered.
He looked up, his peripheral vision catching sight of the Ferris wheel not far away, and suddenly, he remembered and bolted towards it.
The whistling cold wind drowned out his breathing.
In the icy and snowy landscape, a dark figure entered his line of sight.
Jian Luo’s face lit up with joy as he quickened his pace and ran towards it.
“Black Jack!”
Without caring for anything else, he shouted loudly.
His warm voice, tinged with urgency, cut through the air, outweighed the cold wind, and landed heavily on Black Jack’s ears.
In that moment, the previously stiff figure turned around abruptly.
Under the dim light, those blue eyes were dull and lackluster, no longer as bright and dazzling as they usually were.
Black Jack stared at the person who should have been on a trip but was now here, waves of emotion rising in his eyes before turning into a maelstrom.
Jian, Luo!
That moment, all he could see was the figure racing towards him.
Carrying a warm glow, like a little sun radiating heat, it crashed unwittingly into his gray world.
“Black Jack, you idiot!”
Jian Luo stopped in his tracks, shoved him with his hand, and cursed with a breathless voice, “Why didn’t you tell me if something was wrong, do you not regard me as your friend anymore?”
Black Jack stepped back, the deep imprints his feet left in the snow stirred both anger and heartache in Jian Luo. How long had he been standing here to leave such deep footprints?
“Have you lost your mind, standing out here in such cold weather, with the heavy snow falling? Do you want to become an ice sculpture?”
The anger in his voice was tinged with the youth’s barely concealed concern.
Black Jack let him rant, and after a while, his voice hoarse, he asked, “Why did you come?”
“If I didn’t come, were you planning to just stand here forever? And you call me dumb; you’re the biggest idiot,” Jian Luo said through clenched teeth as he punched Black Jack on the shoulder.
“Do you have any idea how frantic we were looking for you? Do you know that as soon as I got back and heard you’d gone missing, I dropped my luggage and ran here?”
Black Jack looked at his pale, cold face, his blue eyes slightly narrowed, then suddenly extended his arms and hugged him.
Jian Luo’s pupils constricted, and his body stiffened, daring not to move.
A buzzing filled his ears, and his mind went blank.
Not until the magnetic voice of the man resonated again next to his ear, carrying an indisguisable tone of pain, “Even though I really hated him, I felt sad when he left. I swore I’d never forgive him in this lifetime, but when I saw him lying there lifeless, all my anger just vanished. I hate that he destroyed our happy home with his own hands, I hate that he left my mother and me behind.”
But he hated himself more, for why didn’t he call him Dad at the last second.
It was all too late now.
Jian Luo turned around, slowly raised his hand, and patted his back, “When I hid in the closet as a child, you lent me your embrace, now it’s your turn. My embrace and my shoulders are both here for you, Black Jack, you still have us.”
They were of the same kind, understanding each other’s loneliness.
Beneath their strong exteriors, there was the softest part at the bottom of their hearts, which valued and yearned for family affection.
Black Jack closed his eyes, “It’s too late, he’s gone. I think he was filled with regret
“Your uncle would be proud of you,” Jian Luo said softly. Although he hadn’t seen Black Jack’s father many times, he could see the pride shining in his eyes whenever he spoke about Black Jack.
Black Jack said nothing, his arms tightening around him.
All was silent, the hustle and bustle of the city gradually subsiding.
After a while, Black Jack loosened his grip, concealing the sadness in his eyes, “How did you know I was here?”
Jian Luo replied, “You forgot, the last time we came here, you told me that your uncle wanted to bring you here, but it never happened because something came up.”
“Why did you come out wearing so little?” Black Jack noticed he was wearing only a sweater and reached out to touch his face, which was frighteningly cold.
“Achoo—”
Jian Luo sneezed and rubbed his nose.
“It’s because I was in a hurry to find you.”
Black Jack tapped his head and quickly took off his coat, then draped it over Jian Luo’s body, “Hurry and put it on.”
“What about you?” Jian Luo asked.
“I can handle the cold. Stop dawdling and put it on before you catch a cold.”
As he spoke, Black Jack forcefully helped Jian Luo put it on.
Then, he glanced around and pulled him into a small pavilion opposite them.
In the pavilion designed for resting, the front was wide open, and the cold wind whistled in.
Jian Luo, wearing Black Jack’s coat, was still freezing.
“How did you get in?” Black Jack asked.
The amusement park should have been closed at this time.
“Climbed over the wall,” Jian Luo said offhandedly.
Hearing this, Black Jack frowned and inspected him closely, “Did you hurt yourself anywhere when you climbed?”
Jian Luo shook his head, his tone light, “No, I’m still quite skillful at climbing walls.”
Black Jack took a step forward, facing him, using his back to block the cold wind.
“What are you doing? You’re not wearing a coat but still shielding me from the wind. What if you catch a cold?” Jian Luo pushed him away, disapprovingly.
Black Jack caught his hand and then pulled out his phone to make a call, “Send a car over.”
After hanging up the phone, he looked down at Jian Luo, “Can you still walk?”
Jian Luo gave him a look, “Of course, I’m not made of paper.” Although he hadn’t eaten for two meals and his stomach was already singing an empty tune.
But he still had the strength to walk out of the amusement park.
Black Jack pulled him out of the pavilion and ran, their silhouettes gradually disappearing into the snowy night.
They needed to hurry, the later it got, the larger the snowstorm, the harder it would be to leave.
The car’s heater was on, driving away the chill.
Jian Luo shook off the snow from his body and finally came to life.
He would never venture out in the middle of a snowy night again.
It was far too cold.
Black Jack watched the person beside him, a tenderness flickering in his eyes that the other had yet to notice, a slight smile forming on his lips.
Nobody knew that it was on this snowy night, the moment the young man beside him had found him, Black Jack decided that this young man was the one he was going to protect for the rest of his life.
That year, he was sixteen, and he was already nineteen.
An innocent young man, his feelings just beginning to bud had recognized him, and his whole life was filled with him…
