Chapter 1059: 1044. Locke Side Story (13) Chapter 1059: 1044. Locke Side Story (13) When the boy who loved chocolate turned eighteen, the boy who bought him chocolate and helped him cram German had also grown up and become more mature and steady.
Without a doubt, Jian Qing and Jian Luo also chose to enter this university.
“Jian Luo, you’re hiding here and sleeping again.” Bai Jue searched everywhere for Jian Luo, and finally found him in a corner of the library.
He just couldn’t understand what was so great about sleeping in the library; lying on a table to sleep only to wake up with your whole body aching, yet Jian Luo just liked to sneak in here to sleep from time to time.
Bai Jue glanced at the art album pressed under his hand, reached out to shake him awake, “Stop sleeping, get up.”
“What for?” Jian Luo looked at him with sleepy eyes, his voice slightly hoarse.
“Big brother, the library is for people to study and read in, not for you to sleep,” Bai Jue complained, “I’m going to the racetrack, want to come with?”
At the mention of the racetrack, Jian Luo immediately lost all traces of sleepiness.
His eyes lit up, “Sure.”
It just so happened that his sister had gone to F Country these past few days, so no one would be there to bother him about going to the racetrack.
“Just the two of us?”
Bai Jue said, “I’ve also invited a few friends from the racing circles, oh, and Black Jack is back too.”
“Where is he?” Jian Luo asked while gathering his books.
“He was supposed to come over here with me to find you, but the Principle called him over on the way,” Bai Jue helped him put the books back on the shelf.
“Called by the Principle?” Jian Luo was surprised, “What did he do?”
“Not sure, but it’s probably nothing serious.”
Jian Luo responded with an “oh,” slung his backpack over his shoulder, and strode off.
Under the shade of the trees, the two chatted as they walked.
Suddenly, Bai Jue caught a glimpse of an interesting scene out of the corner of his eye and pulled Jian Luo behind a large tree to hide.
“Bai Jue, what are you doing?” Jian Luo stumbled, quickly steadying himself against the tree so as not to fall.
Bai Jue shushed him, “Look over there.”
Jian Luo followed his gaze, the man in all black attire, his handsome face was all too familiar to him.
It was Black Jack!
And a girl he didn’t recognize, dressed in YA University’s uniform, with golden wavy hair casually draped over her back, and her melon seed-shaped face with a touch of makeup was charming.
“Bai Jue, is that girl from your class?”
“No, she’s from the class next to ours, named Lis, her family and Black Jack’s have been family friends for generations, and she has been relentlessly pursuing him,” Bai Jue whispered.
What a pity, unrequited love!
Jian Luo’s gaze swept over Lis, finally resting on Black Jack.
Being some distance away, he could only see Black Jack’s lips moving, but couldn’t hear what he was saying.
After a short while, Lis looked down dejectedly, her eyes slightly red.
“Let’s go, Black Jack has spotted us,” Bai Jue said as he met Black Jack’s casually sweeping gaze, pulling Jian Luo away with him.
The two ran wildly to the school gate, Jian Luo panting heavily.
“Why are you running, we haven’t done anything wrong.”
Bai Jue glanced at him, if Black Jack caught them, he was the one who would suffer.
He was not Jian Luo; when it came to emotional intelligence, his reactions were truly slow.
“Forget it, let’s not wait for Black Jack, we’ll go to the racetrack ourselves.”
Jian Luo hummed in affirmation and followed him into the car.
On the road, Bai Jue glanced at the person next to him now and then, noticing he was absorbed in his handheld game console, completely unaffected by the recent incident.
“Jian Luo, do you think that Lis and Black Jack make a good match?” he asked tentatively.
“It’s okay,” Jian Luo said without looking up, focused on conquering the next level of his game.
Bai Jue asked again, “Why just okay?”
“What else? I don’t know anything about that Lis. I only glanced at her just now. Do you expect me to say they’re perfect? Besides, she likes Black Jack, and if Black Jack thinks she’s good, that’s all that matters,” Jian Luo said with a puzzled glance at him before turning his attention back to his game console.
Bai Jue coughed lightly; this emotional intelligence is worrisome.
“So, how would you feel if Black Jack and she got together?”
Jian Luo’s fingers paused, and in those few seconds, the game ended with him being knocked out (KO).
A flash of disappointment crossed his face; he had been so close to beating the level.
“Bai Jue, look at you, always interrupting me. I could have beaten this round,” he complained, looking at Bai Jue.
“You’re being weird today. Black Jack is just over twenty, it’s not a big deal if he dates someone. Why do you keep asking me, is it because you like that Lis?”
Upon hearing this, Bai Jue almost spat out a mouthful of blood.
This is completely off the topic.
He slowed down the car, and with a feeling of disappointment, he said, “How could I possibly like that Lis, Jian Luo, your mind must be foggy from sleeping in the library.”
“Then why do you keep asking me if Black Jack and Lis are good together?” Jian Luo retorted.
“I…” Bai Jue choked, unable to admit that he was just trying to gauge whether Jian Luo had any romantic interest in Black Jack, and had no idea Jian Luo would be so obtuse and not catch on after so much probing.
“I’m just concerned about Black Jack; we’re brothers. When he gets a girlfriend, we naturally have to help him out,” he made up an excuse.
Looking down at his game, Jian Luo said, “Fine, when I see Black Jack later, I’ll ask him for you, okay?”
“How do you plan to ask?” Bai Jue asked eagerly.
After thinking for a bit, Jian Luo said, “I’ll tell him you’re worried whether he’s together with Lis and what he thinks of her.”
Upon hearing this, Bai Jue’s grip on the steering wheel faltered, nearly driving the car into a tree.
Some wood just can’t be carved.
For the rest of the way, Bai Jue gave up discussing the topic with Jian Luo, not wanting to be agitated by his unique thought processes.
When they arrived at the racetrack, Jian Luo had beaten his game. He stuffed his console back into his bag, picked out a car, and then took it for several fast laps around the track.
“Bai Jue, let’s race,” he said, stopping the car and sticking his head out the window to whistle at Bai Jue.
Bai Jue smirked with a curve of his lips, “Bring it on, if you lose, dinner’s on you.”
Jian Luo snapped his fingers, “Then it’s settled; you’re paying.”
When Black Jack arrived, a crowd was gathered, watching the race between Jian Luo and Bai Jue.
He stood with his arms crossed, his gaze locked on the blue sports car.
The white sports car overtook the blue one, reaching the finish line a few seconds ahead. Bai Jue drifted to a stop in style, then got out of the car.
“Jian Luo, get your wallet ready,” he said.
Jian Luo gave him a disdainful look, “You wish.”
“Hey, Black Jack is here,” Bai Jue said, spotting the person under the parasol and dragging Jian Luo over.
“Why are you alone?” Bai Jue asked, “Where’s Lis?”
Jian Luo was even more straightforward, “Black Jack, are you together with her?”
