Chapter 1052: 1037. Locke Side Story (6) Chapter 1052: 1037. Locke Side Story (6) “No need, I’ll take responsibility for the person I fought.” Jian Qing took Jian Luo’s hand, calmly saying.
This matter was originally unrelated to Black Jack and the others; even if they hadn’t intervened, she would have dealt with those people herself.
“Let’s go, together.” Knowing that Jian Qing’s word was final, Bai Jue said.
The group of four arrived at the office, and it wasn’t long before Elder Jian also came, along with the parents of the boys who had been beaten.
After watching the school’s surveillance footage, parents who had wished to take advantage of the situation to trouble the Jian Family were left without a leg to stand on, especially since the matter involved the Sophallo family and the Bai family. They naturally didn’t want to escalate the matter. Besides, with the Jian Family having connections in both the underworld and legitimate society, they didn’t dare to openly confront them.
Thus, in the end, both parties reached a settlement and the matter was dropped.
It turned out to be a blessing in disguise; due to the fight, the bonds among the four of them grew stronger, and Jian Qing tacitly allowed Black Jack and Bai Jue to enter her and Jian Luo’s world.
Winter, the season most prone to colds, and Jian Qing caught one.
Because the cold worsened, Jian Qing couldn’t go to school and had to let Jian Luo go alone.
As usual, when it was time for lunch, Black Jack and Bai Jue appeared punctually at the classroom door.
Jian Luo, now seeing the two of them, no longer avoided them like the plague, but he still wasn’t very talkative.
“Luo Xiaobai, why are you alone? Where’s Jian Qing?” Black Jack asked. The nickname Luo Xiaobai was Black Jack’s specialty, and Bai Jue occasionally enjoyed teasing Jian Luo with it too.
“She has a cold.” Jian Luo said sparingly.
“That little witch, Jian Qing, can catch a cold?” Bai Jue laughed as if taking pleasure in her misfortune.
Suddenly, with his cheeks in his palms, Jian Luo looked at him, and Bai Jue, feeling intimidated by the stare, quickly smiled apologetically, “I’m wrong, your sister is a fairy, okay now?”
Talking to someone with a sister complex is really hard work.
Black Jack helped him pack his textbooks. “Let’s go, it’s time to eat.”
Walking side by side, the eight-year-old Jian Luo stood between the two, conspicuously shorter by a head.
“Luo Xiaobai, we’re going to the countryside tomorrow. Do you want to come with us?” Black Jack invited.
Fearing Jian Luo would refuse, Bai Jue added, “It’ll just be us few, no one else. We’ll go cycling and enjoy the breeze.”
“I’ll think about it.” Jian Luo said hesitantly.
“Don’t think any more, come with us. We’ll bring you chocolate,” Bai Jue said.
Jian Luo bowed his head, saying nothing.
Bai Jue looked helplessly at Black Jack, as if to say, ‘I’m leaving it to you, brother.’
Black Jack was not in a hurry and did not continue to persuade him.
That evening, as Jian Luo was doing his homework, Jian Qing knocked on the door, then came in.
“Sis!”
He put down his pen and turned to look at Jian Qing.
Jian Qing sat on his bed, crossing her legs, “Tomorrow is the weekend. Black Jack and Bai Jue are going for an outing. Aren’t you going with them?”
“Are you going?” Jian Luo countered instead of answering.
“As you can see, I have a cold. I need to rest at home. You go with Bai Jue and the others tomorrow, and have a good time,” Jian Qing said softly.
“But…” Although Jian Luo had grown accustomed to Black Jack and Bai Jue being around in the past two years, he was still somewhat uncomfortable with their closeness.
They were brothers from the same mother; Jian Qing could guess his thoughts even with her eyes closed. She curved her lips in a smile, “Luoluo, you need to learn to be independent on your own, right? And Black Jack and Bai Jue are good people, aren’t they?”
Jian Luo hung his head, his face unreadable; Jian Qing was not in a hurry, sitting quietly beside him.
After a while, he lifted his head. “Then I’ll go with them tomorrow.”
“Yeah.” Jian Qing jumped off the bed and then reached out to pat his head, “I believe my Luoluo is definitely the best.”
Jian Luo’s eyes curved with a smile, and he nodded vigorously.
The cold wind was biting, but the grassland in the suburbs was still lush and green.
Three boys were speeding on their bicycles, with no doubt Bai Jue leading the way, while Black Jack intentionally slowed down to look after Jian Luo.
“Luo Xiaobai, are you cold?” Black Jack looked at the pale face of the person beside him and asked with concern.
Jian Luo’s nose was red from the cold, and to make riding easier, he had given up wearing his coat today to avoid being encumbered.
“Not cold.” He protested staunchly.
“Black Jack, Jian Luo, what are you doing, a couple of turtles?” Bai Jue twisted his head back and yelled at them.
“The slowest person will treat us to a meal later.”
“Here I come.” Jian Luo, not to be outdone, pedaled with all his might.
Seeing the smile on his face, Black Jack also picked up speed, quickly catching up with Bai Jue, “Bai Jue, this meal is on you.”
“Who says so? I still have Jian Luo to fall back on, not scared of you,” Bai Jue retorted.
Hearing that, Jian Luo was not pleased, and uncharacteristically spoke up, “Don’t underestimate me, Bai Jue, you’re definitely the one treating this time.”
As he spoke, he kept pedaling firmly on his bike, and the cold spreading through his body soon turned warm.
The three of them pedaled their bikes as if in a race, the intrinsic desire for victory in their youthful bones filling them with energy. Seeing the slope ahead, their eyes widened as they hurriedly applied the brakes.
Bai Jue, riding at the back, managed to stop his bike just in time, but Black Jack and Jian Luo weren’t so lucky; both of them tumbled down the slope with their bikes.
“Jian Luo!”
Black Jack reacted instantly, abandoning his bike and diving to cover Jian Luo, protecting the back of his head with one hand as they clung together and rolled down the slope.
“Hey, Black Jack, Jian Luo!”
Bai Jue got up from the ground and, seeing the two rolling down the slope, was startled and hurried down after them.
All the way down, like a snowball, Jian Luo was always shielded in Black Jack’s embrace, his nose filled with the faint fragrance from his body.
And a sense of safety he hadn’t noticed before.
Hiss.
The pair stopped rolling, and Black Jack’s back hit a rock, making him inhale sharply from the pain.
Jian Luo opened his eyes and met Black Jack’s worried gaze, his reaction a bit delayed.
Black Jack sat up and, taking his hand, began to check him over, “Are you hurt anywhere?”
Jian Luo came to his senses and shook his head.
“How are you two?” Bai Jue hurried down and, seeing the abrasion on Black Jack’s hand, quickly asked.
“It’s nothing serious,” Black Jack tugged at his clothes, his expression unchanged.
“Really? Nothing?” Bai Jue looked at him searchingly, somewhat skeptical. Such a steep slope, and no injuries besides the scrape on the hand? Can that even be possible?
Black Jack, “I’m fine.”
He then reached out to pull Jian Luo up, “Move a bit to see if you’ve twisted your ankle or something.”
Jian Luo brushed the grass off his clothes, “I’m fine.”
“Scared me to death; forget it, forget it, no more cycling, let’s eat,” Bai Jue, having sweated from the fright, lost the interest to ride anymore.
