The pale golden wrapper featured a delicate and enticing bear-shaped chocolate.

Jian Luo didn’t reach out to take it, instead, she looked towards Jian Qing.

Jian Qing glanced at Black Jack, then took out a piece of chocolate from her own backpack and handed it to Jian Luo.

Black Jack watched Jian Luo eating the unwrapped chocolate, placed the chocolate on his sketchbook, and calmly withdrew his hand.

“Jian Qing, my house and Black Jack’s aren’t too far from your Manor,” Bai Jue invited. “You should come over and play when you have time.”

Jian Qing did not accept or reject the offer, but in Bai Jue’s eyes, this was already a good response—after all, she didn’t outright refuse.

When school ended in the evening, Jian Qing packed her backpack and saw the bear-shaped chocolate on the table; she picked it up and asked, “Luoluo, do you want to take it home?”

Sometimes the four of them did homework together, and Jian Qing gradually stopped being as resistant as she was at the beginning, until an incident of fighting when she finally considered them friends and let them into her world.

For more than a semester, Jian Qing and Jian Luo were still aloof; no matter what group activities were organized in class, the two of them were always absent.

“And there’s Jian Luo, always lurking behind his sister, dumb and stupid, like an idiot.”

“I don’t understand why Black Jack and Bai Jue would want to hang out with those siblings. Warm face after cold butt, I don’t see the point.”

The boys’ words grew increasingly unpleasant. Whoever said that only girls gossip, when boys get started, even girls would have to bow down.

Bai Jue glanced at the enthusiastically chatting boys, and with his excellent memory, he recognized that these were the boys Jian Qing had beaten at Black Jack’s birthday party.

They really don’t learn from past beatings, huh? They still haven’t learned their lesson after being dealt with by Jian Qing last time.

“If you ask me, that Jian Luo is going to be a pushover when he grows up. Without his sister to protect him, he’s nothing, just pitiful like a little girl, so annoying to look at,” sneered the boy who had been threatened by Jian Qing with a dagger.

Jian Luo was closed off, but he wasn’t stupid. Hearing their words, his jelly-like little lips were pressed tight, as if suppressing something.

Jian Qing glanced at him, her hands hanging by her sides clenched into fists, but before she could take action, two others had already beaten her to it.

Black Jack yanked over the boy who had said Jian Luo looked like a girl, reared back his fist, and punched him directly in the face, “You’re nothing but hot air, who the hell do you think you are, daring to talk about Jian Qing and Jian Luo.”

After taking a punch, blood instantly spilled from the corner of the boy’s mouth. He lifted his head and recognized his assailant as Black Jack, his complexion changing dramatically.

Not giving him a chance to speak, Black Jack smashed another punch into his abdomen, “With a filthy mouth like yours, you better wash it out.”

As he said this, he grabbed the boy’s collar and dragged him to a nearby faucet, turning it on. He then shoved the boy’s head into the sink.

The white spray of water gushed out, submerging the boy’s entire face. The water went up his nose and mouth, causing him to cough in agony.

On the other side, the remaining boys were thoroughly beaten up by Bai Jue, groaning in pain as they lay on the ground.

Black Jack released his grip and kicked the boy out, “Next time you talk filth, it won’t be as simple as just a beating.”

“Now get lost!” Bai Jue barked.

“It’s okay now.” Black Jack looked toward Jian Luo and reached out intending to pat his head, but he dodged it. Knowing Jian Luo’s temperament, Black Jack didn’t take it to heart.

The boys lying on the ground scrambled up, their bruised and swollen faces almost comical, but the boy Black Jack had shoved under the water made a sudden comeback, grabbing a baseball bat from nearby and swinging it straight at Black Jack.

“Black Jack, watch out!”

In the nick of time, Jian Qing snatched up a baseball bat from the ground and swung decisively at the boy’s thigh.

If it weren’t for his limited height, the bat would have hit his arm.

The baseball bat fell from his hands, the boy’s face turning crimson, his forehead instantly beading with cold sweat as he clutched his injured arm and trembled.

Out of the corner of his eye, Black Jack saw a teacher approaching and snatched the baseball bat from Jian Qing’s hand. Jian Qing paused.

“What happened here?” It was difficult to have a fight under broad daylight without alerting the teachers, especially since the students were all from wealthy families. If anything went wrong, it would be hard for the teachers to explain to the parents.

“Quick, help him to the infirmary.” Seeing the boy clutching his arm and crying out in pain, the teacher hurriedly instructed the security guards.
