Chapter 1025: 1010, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (9) Chapter 1025: 1010, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (9) “Jian Luo told you?” Bai Jue asked.
Jian Qing nodded. “This isn’t really your style.”
He had agreed and then stood someone up, and the boss of Wil Group was so mad he wanted to tear down walls and rip off roofs.
“That old pervert has lived long enough and has had enough. Besides, his reputation in the business industry has never been good. If I don’t save him, whether he lives will be up to fate. And since I neither took his money nor signed a contract with him, what can he do to me?” Bai Jue curved his lips, carrying a smile tinged with cynicism.
“For people like him, if I had saved him, wouldn’t that be unscrupulous?”
“You’re not just unscrupulous, but also naive,” Xiya said.
Bai Jue, “Piss off.”
At that moment, Quan Jingwu pushed the door and came in.
“Xiaojing!”
Jian Qing propped herself up on the desk with one hand to stand, and Quan Jingwu quickly approached to support her, the careful manner in which he did so made Xiya and the others feel helpless.
Is there a need to be so careful, to the point that they all started feeling nervous too?
“We’re leaving first, we still need to pick up Seventeen and Nineteen from school,” Jian Qing said.
“Mm, we’ll chat on the phone later,” Xiya said. “Oh, and send Khan a video tonight, my daughter has been pestering to see your Seventeen and Nineteen.”
There was no helping it, she loved to gaze upon beautiful men, and her Maomao clearly inherited that from her.
The delicate features of Seventeen and Nineteen had her completely infatuated; she would always call them Seventeen Handsome and Nineteen Handsome, which often left Khan green with jealousy.
“Got it.”
“I’ll be in the Bathroom,” Bai Jue said.
While Bai Jue was in the Bathroom, Xiya, unable to contain her gossiping spirit, teasingly smiled at Zhan Mingyan, “That day at the hotel, did the two of you…”
“Nonsense,” Zhan Mingyan glared at her. “Talk about being disloyal.”
Xiya clutched her little heart, “I’m just trying to create opportunities for you guys. Tsk tsk, you can’t even appreciate my kind intentions.”
Zhan Mingyan pretended to be horrified, “Don’t, I can’t afford such luxuries.”
Ever since Elder Zhan was discharged from the hospital, Bai Jue almost visited the Zhan Family daily, either taking Zhan Mingyan out for fun or accompanying her at the flower shop.
In the flower shop, Zhan Mingyan was pruning a bouquet that was to be delivered soon, while the table was covered in snacks that Bai Jue had brought.
“Mingyan, when are you going to treat us to wedding sweets?” Xiaoling asked while looking at Bai Jue, who was taking a phone call outside, and drawing close to Zhan Mingyan with a smile.
“Keep dreaming,” Zhan Mingyan replied calmly.
“Mingyan, a high-quality man like Mr. Bai is rare, you should seize the opportunity and take the time to hold on to him,” Xiaoqing said.
“Alright, thanks for the reminder. Now, hurry up and wrap up the remaining bouquets. The guests will be here to pick them up soon,” Zhan Mingyan glanced at the two with amusement and said.
Bai Jue came back in after finishing the call.
But his expression was somewhat grim.
“What happened, did something go wrong?” Zhan Mingyan noticed the absence of a smile on his lips, put down the scissors, stood up, and asked.
Bai Jue said, “Little Yanyan, I need to take a trip back to M Country.”
Zhan Mingyan was taken aback for a moment and then forced a smile, “Is something wrong?”
“Just a small issue. There’s a problem at the Research Room, and I need to go back,” Bai Jue said.
“You scared me. You’re frowning so much, I thought something serious happened,” Zhan Mingyan said with a light tone, not wanting to burden him with worry.
“By the way, how long will you be gone?”
Bai Jue looked at the smile on her face, his eyes darkening slightly as he reached out and pulled her into his arms, “But, I don’t want to leave you.”
Zhan Mingyan’s eyes curved into a smile, her arms wrapping around his waist.
“You’re not leaving forever, and besides, we can video chat every day. What’s there to miss so much?” What she didn’t say was that she actually missed him even more.
She had gotten used to having him around every day, and now that he was gone, she felt somewhat out of sorts.
“Will you be gone for a long time this time?”
The cold light in Bai Jue’s eyes flickered, “It won’t be a long time.”
Since some people were begging for trouble, there was no need for him to consider those laughable ties of sentiment any longer.
Upon hearing it wouldn’t be long, Zhan Mingyan felt somewhat relieved.
“So, when are you leaving?”
Bai Jue buried his face in the nape of her neck, “Tonight.”
The sooner he settled the matters, the sooner he could hurry back and stay with her.
“Then be careful on the road, and call me when you get there,” she said.
Bai Jue lifted his head, smilingly asked, “You care about me that much, huh?”
Zhan Mingyan, with her thin skin, blushed instantly, “Who cares about you? Don’t flatter yourself.”
“Wait for me obediently. Don’t go out alone with other men. I’ll bring you back some tasty food when I return,” Bai Jue’s large hand rested on her head, mussing it up roughly.
“I’m not a foodie, who would want that,” Zhan Mingyan swatted away his hand, lifting her chin proudly.
Bai Jue picked up the car keys and took her hand, saying, “Come with me somewhere.”
Zhan Mingyan held him back, “Hey, where to? Those flower bouquets aren’t done yet.”
“Just leave them to Xiaoling and the others,” Bai Jue said as he removed the apron from around her waist.
Before Zhan Mingyan could react, he had pulled her out the door.
Riding in Bai Jue’s car, Zhan Mingyan always felt as though they were speeding.
The thrilling sensation was addictively exhilarating.
In the evening, the remnants of the setting sun dyed the entire sky red; fiery reds and maple-like oranges created a blurred beauty that was profoundly moving.
Zhan Mingyan leaned against the car, her starry eyes reflecting the afterglow in the sky, her lips curving into a tender smile, “Bai Jue, why did you suddenly bring me here?”
She looked towards the person beside her, curious about her answer.
“Didn’t you say before that you wanted to come to the beach to watch the sunset?” Bai Jue held out a cup of hot drink he had bought and handed it to her.
Zhan Mingyan paused in her act of drinking, feeling a warm fuzziness inside her heart.
She had mentioned it casually, but he had remembered it.
On a whim, she asked, “Bai Jue, am I the first person to watch a sunset with you?”
After a thought, Bai Jue answered honestly, “No, you’re the fourth.”
Upon hearing this, Zhan Mingyan felt a pang of disappointment.
“My first time watching a sunset was when I was ten years old, with Jian Luo, Jian Qing, and Black Jack. We secretly skipped class without telling our families and ran off to the beach to have a barbecue,” Bai Jue spoke slowly.
Then, turning his face to look at her, he said, “But you are the first one I’ve watched a sunset with that I love.”
At those words, the gloom in Zhan Mingyan’s heart instantly dispersed.
Her smile returned to her lips, “Okay, I’ll reluctantly believe you this time.”
“Speaking of which, isn’t your grandfather’s birthday banquet coming up?” Bai Jue suddenly remembered the conversation he had heard at the Zhan family home from Lu Hui and Zhan Ze a few days ago.
Zhan Mingyan nodded, “Grandpa didn’t have a birthday banquet for the past two years. He just had major surgery, and this time my parents said they’re going to hold a banquet at a hotel to ward off bad luck.”
Bai Jue hummed in response.
“Will you be able to make it back by then?” she asked.
