Chapter 1024 - 1024 1009 Jue and Zhans Couple Extra (8)
Chapter 1024: 1009, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (8) Chapter 1024: 1009, Jue and Zhan’s Couple Extra (8) Within half a month, Zhan Mingyan had heard the word “marriage” not less than ten times.
She paused in her steps, lifting her eyes to look at the person beside her, “Thinking of getting married?”
“Mmm-hmm.” Bai Jue nodded frantically, his face full of anticipation.
Zhan Mingyan, “Dream on.”
“Why?” Bai Jue’s smile collapsed.
“Just think about it, I’m so handsome, and so intelligent, and then, my medical skills are pretty good too. There aren’t many high-quality men like me left, you should hold on to me while you can.”
Listening to his self-praise, Zhan Mingyan looked skyward, speechless, “Bai Jue, do you know there’s an old saying in China?”
“Hmm?”
“Self-praise is no recommendation.”
“Then just give me a straight answer, will you. What do I have to do for you to agree to marry me?” Bai Jue skipped over her teasing and asked directly.
“Definitely not now, after the way you bullied me in the past.” She still remembered being rejected by him twice when she confessed her feelings.
Bai Jue was at a loss for words, crestfallen.
If only he had agreed to her confessions in the first place, what was he thinking!
After walking around outside, they arrived home just in time for dinner.
“You two go wash your hands, it’s time to eat.” Lu Hui said.
In the dining room, Zhan Mingyan and Bai Jue sat together, with Elder Master Zhan at the head of the table.
“Bai Jue, come, have a drink.” To celebrate Elder Master Zhan’s discharge from the hospital, Zhan Ze brought out a bottle of fine wine.
Upon opening the bottle, the rich aroma of wine wafted out, stirring Elder Master Zhan’s cravings.
His eyes heated with desire as he looked at the wine in Zhan Ze’s hands, almost wanting to snatch it and have a taste.
“Elder Master Zhan, you are not supposed to drink for the time being. But I have plenty of good wines; once you can drink, I will bring you some,” Bai Jue said, noticing the old master’s wistful expression, the corner of his lips curving slightly.
At these words, Elder Master Zhan immediately perked up, “You said it.”
The meal was enjoyed heartily by all.
After a game of chess with Bai Jue, Elder Master Zhan went upstairs to rest, Zhan Ze left to handle some business, and Lu Hui also went back to her room for an afternoon nap.
For a while, only Bai Jue and Zhan Mingyan remained in the living room.
Bai Jue picked up a phone call, while Zhan Mingyan was chatting with Xiya on WeChat.
“Don’t bother with them, let them make a fuss if they want to,” Bai Jue leaned back, his tone carrying a trace of coldness.
After hanging up the phone, Zhan Mingyan turned to glance at him, “Is there some troublesome matter?”
Bai Jue put away his phone, “No, just some people who are full and have nothing better to do, it’s not worth our attention.”
Zhan Mingyan uttered an “Oh,” “By the way, I haven’t seen Jian Qing for a long time. Xiya and I are planning to meet with her later, do you want to come along?”
Bai Jue nodded, and then reached out to wrap his arm around her, with a mischievous smile pulling at his lips.
“What are you doing?” Zhan Mingyan looked at him defensively.
This man, whenever he had that smug smile on, it guaranteed no good.
“Xiya has one child, and Jian Qing is about to have her second. We haven’t even had our first,” he said, his voice filled with a slight plaintiveness as he nuzzled her neck.
Zhan Mingyan, “…”
“Why don’t we also put in some effort and try to catch up with the first one as soon as possible?” Bai Jue persisted.
Zhan Mingyan pushed his face away, looking down at her phone, “Talk properly, stop being so touchy-feely.”
“Does that mean you agree?” Bai Jue asked.
Zhan Mingyan, “In your dreams.”
Bai Jue fell to the ground, wondering why it was so hard to find a wife.
He had arranged to meet Jian Qing at the cafe across from JK International. When Zhan Mingyan and Bai Jue arrived, Jian Qing and Xiya were already deep in conversation.
The spacious cafe only had the two of them.
“Yo, bringing family to a cafe, huh?” Xiya, hearing the sound of the wind chime at the entrance, looked up and saw Bai Jue and Zhan Mingyan coming in, she teased on purpose.
Jian Qing sipped her juice, the corners of her lips curling.
Bai Jue pulled Zhan Mingyan down to sit and replied, “Is there a rule that family members aren’t allowed in?”
Xiya huffed, “This is afternoon tea between us ladies, why are you joining in the fun?”
“Did you book the whole place?” Zhan Mingyan looked around curiously and asked.
The place usually had a lot of traffic, why was it so deserted at this time?
“His highness booked the whole place, afraid someone might accidentally bump into his wife,” Xiya couldn’t help but tease.
“Where’s Quan Jingwu?” Bai Jue asked.
Jian Qing was pregnant, and that guy was usually glued to her 24/7, so why was he not in sight now?
“Something came up at the company, he had to go back for a bit,” replied Jian Qing.
“Bai Jue, look at people Jian, she’s on her second child already, and you’re still not on your first, that’s a bit too lame,” Xiya’s gaze shifted between the two, a teasing glint in her eyes.
“Mingyan, you should get a move on too.”
“What are you talking about,” Zhan Mingyan shot her a look and muttered.
“It’s true though, all the couples around us are married now. You two are the only ones left,” said Xiya.
“I have your red envelopes ready, just waiting for your wedding banquet.”
Bai Jue secretly gave Xiya a thumbs up, “It’ll be soon, just prepare your red envelopes, we won’t accept if the gift money is too little,” he said with implied pride.
Jian Qing took a bite of her cake and glanced at him sideways before bluntly striking, “Worry about getting a wife first.”
Upon hearing this, Xiya laughed, Zhan Mingyan silently lowered her head, a smile crossing her eyes.
“Cough cough.”
Bai Jue choked on his coffee, shooting Jian Qing an annoyed look.
“Jian Qing, it seems like your morning sickness isn’t as severe this time, is it?” Zhan Mingyan asked as she looked at her slightly protruding belly, curious.
Jian Qing touched her slightly swollen belly, “Hmm, this little one has indeed given me less trouble.”
Since getting pregnant, she hadn’t experienced morning sickness at all.
“Xiya, don’t you plan on having another one?” Zhan Mingyan asked the person stirring her coffee on the other side, smilingly.
“No way, I’m already overwhelmed with one,” Xiya shook her head repeatedly.
“Why that expression? I think Maomao is quite obedient, like a little doll,” Zhan Mingyan was puzzled.
Xiya snorted, “What doll, Khan is spoiling her into a little witch.”
Khan, that daughter-slave, was just shy of fetching the moon for his daughter. With the father and daughter joining forces, she was the unluckiest one.
“A little witch, that’s quite like you, isn’t it?” Bai Jue chimed in.
Xiya retorted, “You deserve to be single.”
“Who says I am? Here’s my partner,” said Bai Jue, wrapping an arm around Zhan Mingyan and boasting proudly.
Xiya countered calmly, “You think it counts just by saying so? Speaking without even a marriage certificate, aren’t you embarrassed?”
“Alright, you two, stop bickering, there’s even a waiter watching,” intervened Zhan Mingyan, her ears almost calloused from their quarreling.
“Bai Jue, I heard you stood up the president of Wil Group?” Jian Qing wiped her mouth and asked casually.
“Did Jian Luo tell you?” Bai Jue asked.
