MMORPG: War God, You are Invincible Again -
Chapter 353 - 108: Assault
Chapter 353: Chapter 108: Assault
Lu Hong was agile, especially after switching to the Angry Blood Warrior class. With the boost of his vigor and vitality, even a group of vicious bandits didn’t stand a chance against him.
By the time the last perimeter sentry sensed the extreme stillness, Lu Hong had already arrived behind him.
His icy killing intent locked onto the target. The bandit sentry felt as if he had fallen into an ice cellar, instinctively wanting to flee. But in the next second, his entire being was devoured by a Fierce Beast formed from vital energy.
One hundred and thirty-eight Second Transition bandits at the beginner to intermediate level—Lu Hong felt the surging strength of blood within him, sought out a shadowy corner, and leaped over the village wall.
The perimeter clear. Although he hadn’t triggered any alarms, he couldn’t keep this up forever. So, Lu Hong needed to act fast.
Having infiltrated with such ease, Lu Hong altered his plan on the fly. Following Xu Fubin’s description, he hurried to the location where the village chief was held captive. Rescuing the chief came first, then dealing with the Third Transition druid. Being cursed, the villagers would have enough ability to protect themselves.
The houses in the village were, in fact, unguarded due to the incarceration of the other villagers—one wolf only needed to restrict their chief.
"Who?" The village’s strength was not to be underestimated. They detected Lu Hong the moment he entered the yard.
"I am here at the behest of Xu Fubin to rescue you," said Lu Hong, wasting no time and immediately displaying his token to the village chief.
But the village chief shook his head, "Hurry and leave. You are too low-level. Don’t throw your life away needlessly."
Lu Hong smiled faintly, "Since I’ve come, I am obviously well-prepared. Tell me where the druid is. I’ll take him down for you, and the village’s crisis will be mostly averted."
The village chief looked deeply at Lu Hong and, after a long pause, said, "If you can take care of the druid, I am absolutely certain none of the villagers will come to harm."
"That’s great. Then I won’t have to worry too much," Lu Hong nodded and vanished into the night, following the directions the village chief had given him.
The village chief paced back and forth in his courtyard and finally, with resolve, pushed the door open and stepped out.
The nighttime village was quiet on the outside. Inside, however, many houses had been taken over by the Lone Wolf’s gang, who knows what sort of chaos was afoot.
The place where the old and young villagers were held captive was the central meeting hall—a place where the people of Cursed Village had once discussed important matters. It was spacious and had been taken by Lone Wolf to keep watch over the villagers.
The village chief slowly approached the hall. At that moment, a group of elite Lone Wolf guards were playing cards in front of the door, and a magical lock engraved with a purification skill held the villagers inside.
"Hey! Old man, what are you doing here?!" one of the bandits barked. "Get lost! Didn’t Lone Wolf warn you, no approaching this place!"
"Heh, I just wanted to see how they’re doing," the village chief said with a smile, not stopping his advance.
"Stop right there!" barked the bandit again. The others quickly drew their weapons, pointed them at the village chief, and warned, "Take one more step, and we’ll report to Lone Wolf tomorrow. For every step you take, a villager will be killed."
No sooner had the words fallen than a thunderous roar erupted from the northwest of Cursed Village. A torrent of blood surged into the sky, and the druid’s angry roar turned into a wail.
The village chief’s smile grew even brighter.
Sensing these changes, the bandits felt a pang of fear and rushed towards the purification-enchanted magical locks. The village chief’s late-night presence and the clear attack on the druid signified a revolt brewing in Cursed Village.
"Too late," said the village chief in a calm voice. From his body, countless black threads sprang forth. The moment they touched the bandits, they melted them into puddles of blood.
As for the purification magic lock before him, the village chief picked up the bandit’s long sword and chopped fiercely down. Such magic locks were actually quite fragile, designed merely to suppress the unarmed villagers cursed within.
When the doors of the council hall were pushed open, the village chief’s smile slowly froze. Of the three hundred villagers, old and young, less than a hundred were still breathing. Most had already died inside, their bodies emitting waves of decay. Lone Wolf had never cared about their lives or deaths, and the little food he provided was extremely limited, causing many of the elderly to starve to death amidst them.
"Lone Wolf!" the village chief bellowed at the sky, his late Third Transition power fully on display. Purple-black magic power also formed into a massive tornado, vying in brilliance with the Blood Holy Sword manifested by Lu Hong from the Northwest.
Lone Wolf flew into the air, glanced once at the council hall at the center of the village, then headed straight for the Grand Druid, knowing full well that only by saving this Grand Druid could he suppress the rebellion in Cursed Village.
"Lone Wolf!" the village chief stared fiercely at the swiftly flying figure in the sky, slowly raising one hand, "I curse you! Wither! Death!"
"Hmph!" Lone Wolf snorted coldly, taking out the purification amulet made for him by the Grand Druid, and effortlessly dispelled the curse force planted in him by the village chief.
"Damn it!" The village chief’s lungs nearly burst with anger, but all he could do was pray that Lu Hong was able to kill that damned druid.
Meanwhile, things were going relatively well for Lu Hong. When he reached below the man’s window, he found the old bastard writhing on top of a woman. Seizing the moment of vulnerability, Lu Hong summoned the Blood Holy Sword and struck down heavily.
The Grand Druid, surviving in this chaotic place, also had some means of preserving his life. As danger approached, he instinctively activated the bronze bracelet on his wrist, and a milky halo spread out. Though Lu Hong’s Holy Sword shattered the magic item’s defense, the attack’s momentum was diminished, merely wounding the druid’s right arm without taking his life.
With a loud shout, the Grand Druid’s green magic power surged, and his injuries quickly healed as if nothing happened.
"Who are you?!" the Grand Druid conjured a set of clothing with his magic, a green staff in hand, and with a stomp, he crushed the poor woman’s neck beneath him.
A twitch at the corner of Lu Hong’s mouth, "You’ve just given me one more reason to kill you."
"Damn you! A mere Second Transition dares to assassinate me? Is it Hu Long, that old bastard, being restless again!" the Grand Druid scolded, not in a hurry. The brief scuffle had likely been detected by Lone Wolf’s men, and he just needed to delay for a moment until Lone Wolf arrived, and then all problems would be resolved.
Lu Hong was not foolish, and charged forward with his sword raised. The Grand Druid conjured magic, quickly casting dozens of magical shields. This old bastard had probably zero offensive capability, but his survival skills were undoubtedly maxed out.
Killing the Grand Druid before Lone Wolf arrived would be ideal. As the Blood Holy Sword descended, the power of blood surged skyward, creating a blood-red tornado. Harnessing the Skill within the Blood Holy Sword, Blood Restoration, he united the strength of his blood into one, ascending into the Third Transition tier, successfully smashing the Druid’s protection and viciously cutting into the Druid’s shoulder, effortlessly severing the entire arm.
With a agonized howl, as Lu Hong was about to follow through, bandits hearing the commotion converged on him and launched their assault.
"Blood Shock!" Accompanied by a powerful heartbeat, a small nuclear explosion burst forth in the northwest of Cursed Village, imminent destruction leaving the vicinity engulfed in deathly silence.
The Grand Druid, however, relying on a magic artifact, managed to survive in panic and attempted to flee.
"Trying to leave?" Lu Hong sneered, taking a quick step towards his opponent.
At that moment, a white chain cleaved through the air, its fierce magical power carrying a chilling edge, forcing Lu Hong to step back and dodge the sudden attack.
It was none other than Lone Wolf who had arrived.
"You finally showed up." The Grand Druid clutched his severed arm, blood flow halted, but with the limb under Lu Hong’s foot, he could only watch helplessly and unable to reattach it.
"Are you okay?" Lone Wolf glanced at the Grand Druid, then narrowed his eyes at Lu Hong, "Who are you? Daring to cause trouble on my turf."
"What does it matter to you? You’ve arrived just in time, I’ll kill you along with him, once and for all," Lu Hong said, dual-wielding the Blood Holy Sword, his surging blood power once again rising.
"Boastful words!" Lone Wolf, having seen many great storms, naturally had some skill of his own, paying no heed to Second Transition Lu Hong, considering him to be only temporarily emboldened. But in the face of absolute power, everything else was but a fleeting cloud.
