Chapter 1558: Battle Against the Faceless

Chapter 1558: Chapter 1558: Battle Against the Faceless

The sudden appearance of two superpowered entities on the opposing side took everyone by surprise.

The Demon Marshal was already strong enough. The four of them had to exert their full strength just to suppress him.

But as soon as they managed to suppress the Demon Marshal, the tables were instantly turned.

A Faceless Apostle, and an Abyss Demon Throat.

Yes, those tentacle-like things resembling an octopus were actually long throats.

"Damn it, it’s actually him." The Green Dragon Princess was also shaken by the chilling aura of the Ancient God. Even the Dragon King would avoid provoking an Ancient God lightly, let alone her.

Back then, how was the Black Dragon King corrupted? It was through the ceaseless murmurings of the Ancient God that his mind was slowly twisted, almost leading to the extinction of the Black Dragon Clan among the Five Great Guardian Dragons.

However, seeing that the Ancient God did not actually step into the battle, the Green Dragon Princess heaved a sigh of relief.

"It’s Yogg-Saron! This guy should be staying put in the Arctic, yet he’s plotting schemes in Uldaman." Li Yao was shocked as well. In the previous timeline, there was no such sequence of events, and nobody knew which exact Ancient God was in control.

"Yogg-Saron is the craftiest of them. The Curse of Flesh was orchestrated by him. To this day, the Saron Blood in the Arctic hasn’t been fully cleansed. Many minerals and plants have undergone mutations. If the undead Scourge hadn’t risen abruptly and occupied most of the Arctic, we might not have been able to escape." The Green Dragon Princess struggled to put her thoughts into words.

That’s right—if it weren’t for the sudden rise of the undead Scourge, with the Lich King domineeringly controlling various Arctic races through plague, the entire Arctic might have already fallen completely to the Ancient Gods. Even the Dragon Clan would be overwhelmed.

Although the Scourge was also an enemy, they at least created a balance of power against the Ancient Gods, giving the dragons a chance to catch their breath.

"Hahaha." Seeing Li Yao and the Green Dragon Princess flying over, Blood Hoof laughed. "New Generals from our camp are here to assist. Surely, you’ll show some response, or we might all perish here."

The faces of the other three leaders darkened. Damn it, the Dark Camp stole the spotlight again.

They also wanted reliable reinforcements, but those weren’t so easily found. Just look at Li Yao—working with the Green Dragon Princess was already remarkable, and now he had a contract with the Black Dragon Queen. This lineup was too overpowered.

Where could they possibly find such monsters?

"Don’t overestimate him. He’s just a rookie; we have plenty of rookies too." The gnoll let out a hoarse roar. "Men, what are you waiting for? Killing a World-level Chief will earn you the title of General!"

Blood Hoof sneered. "Oh? But wasn’t it a rookie who severed one of your arms? Seems like your strength isn’t all that great either."

The gnoll snorted coldly. This wasn’t the time to fall out with each other, or everyone would end up dead.

"Kill a World-level Chief and receive the rank of General!" The Human General and Grand Angel also shouted.

Initially, the appearance of two World-level Chiefs had sent many players retreating from the assault on the Demon Marshal. The siege was already too perilous; no one could guarantee their survival.

With two more powerful entities added to the mix, their chances of survival became nonexistent. Charging in now would be suicidal.

However, when the leaders made such a generous promise, everyone went wild. This was the title of General!

Military achievements were exceedingly difficult to accumulate. Fighting in the battlefield merely earned honorary ranks, which were only useful within the battlefield and completely worthless outside of it.

To gain military merit, one had to achieve actual kills in battle. So far, forget about Generals—even actual Colonels were extremely rare, with Li Yao being the only one promoted to General.

High military ranks required not only merit but also completing corresponding missions and making significant contributions to the camp before approval could be granted.

Now, killing either of these two bosses could earn one the title of General, prompting an outbreak of madness.

Many players who initially didn’t want to risk the skies were now driven insane, raising their hands and shouting to join the fight.

This granted them Floating Ability, allowing them to participate in aerial battles.

The central battlefield, once spacious, was now teeming with players. They all gazed at the two bosses as if looking at priceless treasures.

At this point, life and death no longer mattered.

"Heh heh, what bravery. No matter how many lowly fish there are, what difference does it make? Apostles, follow me to slaughter them all!" The Demon Marshal, Alice, after a brief recovery, had restored herself to peak condition. Her previously severed tentacles were fully regenerated. "Now, let me show you my newly mastered technique—’All Streams Return to One.’"

The countless tentacles surrounding the Demon Marshal coalesced into the weapon in her hand, forming an incredibly dazzling beam of light.

"The three of us will hold off the Demon Marshal. Gnoll, you handle the Demon Throat. Prairie Fire, take care of the Faceless Apostle. Finish them quickly and then join our battle." The Grand Angel commanded loudly.

The three of them were in peak condition. At least before their ultimate abilities wore off, they were confident they could suppress the Demon Marshal.

The gnoll, though savage, also knew better than to argue. Among the four, he was the weakest. Without his life-saving Shield, dealing with the current Demon Marshal was too dangerous.

Hearing the Grand Angel’s directive, he immediately charged at the Abyss Demon Throat, who was also rushing toward him. His attacks, relying on the sharpness of Dual Claws, were perfect for slicing through those long throats.

"The Grand Angel really trusts me," Li Yao commented as he notched an arrow to his Star Bow. "Princess, this will be our true trial."

Li Yao summoned the Black Dragon Queen to replace himself and the Green Dragon Princess at the forefront, continuing to lead the Starfire Air Force to farm military merit, while he would personally handle the boss Blood Hoof had summoned. Anything less would be inappropriate.

"Fighting strong foes is the only thing that’s exciting." The Green Dragon Princess, after prolonged battle, had shed her gentle demeanor. Her blood boiled as her fighting spirit surged.

Before Li Yao could close the distance, impatient players had already launched an assault on the Faceless Apostle. A barrage of Spells and ranged attacks surged toward it.

But the Faceless Apostle, as always, moved slowly through the air, heading straight for Li Yao and the Green Dragon Princess. Green mist emanated from its body, the attacks sizzling against the mist as they corroded, barely scratching its actual form.

The players’ expressions shifted drastically. This was insane—if their attacks couldn’t even land, how were they supposed to fight?

"Behold my Ultimate Skill—Crazy Star Arrow!"

This was a technique Li Yao had newly mastered from the roaring Gale, a skill that could only be unleashed using the Star Bow.

"Dream Aligned!"

A volley of meteor-like arrows shot toward the Faceless Apostle. In response, the tentacles on the Apostle’s shoulders suddenly sprayed out masses of green liquid.

The arrows collided with the foul-smelling liquid, which corroded the Steel Arrows upon contact.

However, the corroded Steel Arrows transformed into the magical form of Starlight Arrows. These arrows, accented with green glimmers of light, embodied the Magic synergy between the Star Bow and the Green Dragon’s power, forming Magical Arrows.
