Chapter 1559: Chapter 1559: The Excuse for Siege

Li Yao’s Star Bow, infused with Star Power and the Green Dragon Princess’s Power of Dream, formed into Magical Arrows that, after being encased by Steel Arrow to shield against corrosion, continued their trajectory without pause despite Steel Arrow’s dismantling.

Like meteors slicing through the mist, the arrows directly struck the body of the Faceless One. The term "Faceless One" doesn’t merely signify the absence of a face; it carries far deeper implications.

The Faceless One is a flesh-based creature, but it more closely resembles a soft tissue organism, lacking distinct skeletal structure.

Moreover, its anatomy diverges from that of typical flesh creatures, which possess vital points like a heart and trachea.

However, the Faceless One differs inherently—it doesn’t require respiration, nor does it need a heart, eliminating these vulnerabilities.

This is one of the Ancient Gods’ more refined creations, a simplified version that lacks the critical weaknesses of ordinary organisms. Variants such as the Faceless One and the Merciless One serve as the core units of their regular legion.

Their bodies harbor a core—but this Corrosive Heart is incredibly small and its location isn’t fixed.

More curiously, their energy operation doesn’t rely solely on the core. Hence, Li Yao’s Divine Vision can only discern the energy flow within the Faceless One, without pinpointing its critical weak spot.

Under such circumstances, Li Yao doesn’t need to obsess over targeting specific points; attacking the Faceless One’s body is sufficient.

Plop, plop, plop, plop...

The Magical Arrows unexpectedly passed clean through the Faceless One’s body, nearly corroded to the point of vanishing, but still managed to instantly kill two unfortunate players standing behind the Faceless Ones.

Infused with Star Power, Dream Power, and Faceless Corruption Power, even in its weakened state, the attack was far beyond what current players could withstand. Under the horrified gazes of all, the two unlucky players devolved into grotesque puddles of viscous liquid, collapsing onto the ground.

And that wasn’t the end of it—the wounds pierced by the Magical Arrows sprayed torrents of green liquid both forward and backward.

It was as though what spouted from the wounds wasn’t blood, but the Faceless One’s own method of attack. Many players struck by the liquid saw their health plummet at an alarming rate. Healing was utterly futile; no method could dispel the corrosive status because its tier was far too high—players’ cleansing abilities simply weren’t up to par.

Meanwhile, Li Yao didn’t stop for a moment, shooting arrows like meteors in rapid succession, maintaining a relentless barrage.

The Green Dragon proved to be an unparalleled support unit. While it may be outmatched in solo combat by other dragons, its synergy with other units dramatically enhanced overall battle power.

With the Green Dragon Princess’s aid, Li Yao’s combat strength was already comparable to a World-level Chief—at least in terms of attack power, though he lacked proficiency in other aspects.

Nonetheless, the Faceless One appeared entirely indifferent, as if the wounds appearing on its form didn’t belong to it.

Its health was dropping, but the troubling reality was this: despite Li Yao’s potent attacks, the corrosive liquid the Faceless One scattered around made it easy for it to absorb life energy from surrounding opportunistic players, regenerating quickly.

The wounds on its body would continually emerge, only to seal up rapidly again, as if it were immune to harm. The Faceless One remained silent, but its fearsome persistence exerted oppressive pressure on everyone present.

The Green Dragon Princess began circling around to enable Li Yao to maintain his ranged assault on the Faceless One.

Li Yao was undoubtedly safe, but the surrounding players were not pleased.

Their choice to engage the Faceless One stemmed from the assumption that Li Yao, being a mere player, would be easier to deal with—at least compared to securing loot from Werewolves elsewhere.

Yet now, not only had they failed to reap any benefits, the corrosive liquid raining like bullets continually inflicted casualties, killing them off slowly but surely.

"Damn it, Prairie Fire, that bastard, must be doing this on purpose."

"Son of a bitch, think you’re special just because you have a Green Dragon, huh?"

"Kill Prairie Fire! We can’t let him keep wrecking us like this."

"He’s clearly working with the Ancient Gods."

"You can tell just by looking at Dark Touch—it’s practically a miniature Demon Marshal."

"We’ve got a traitor in our ranks, helping the Faceless One slaughter us."

"Group up, kill him!"

Jealousy consumed the players, their eyes burning red. Though they could float in the air using the Blessing of Levitation, their speed paled in comparison to the Green Dragon Princess—it was akin to ants crawling in the face of divine swiftness.

They could see the incoming attacks but avoiding them proved nearly impossible.

Quickly aligning on mutual intent, the players surrounding Li Yao shifted their Magic and physical attacks toward him instead.

Li Yao, engrossed in assailing the Faceless One alongside the Green Dragon Princess, suddenly found himself deluged in a storm of Magic, his health dropping significantly.

Add to that an array of negative status effects now afflicting him.

"Apologies, apologies, friendly fire, friendly fire."

"Oops, sorry, my spell missed."

"Our bad—hey, you know how it is, we’re amateurs, aiming isn’t our strong suit."

The players offered insincere excuses, all the while continuing their attacks.

"Hahaha, I don’t have to lift a finger! You’re tearing yourselves apart already—how amusing!" The Demon Marshal sneered, mocking the chaotic scene before him.

Chiefs from the three factions grew livid, itching to slaughter the players. They had never expected them to succeed in restraining the Faceless One—but neither had they anticipated their incompetence to hinder one of the strongest individuals willing to relieve the pressure. Whose side were these players on anyway?

This was outright sabotage. Just as the Chiefs attempted to admonish them, the Demon Marshal seemed to anticipate this, launching a barrage of storm-like attacks that left the Chiefs completely occupied, unable to intervene or even speak.

"Damn it, you’re literally asking to die!"

The Green Dragon Princess roared in fury as the players’ skills began to noticeably impact her speed.

Moreover, her health was steadily dropping—Li Yao’s health was far less robust than hers.

"If that’s how you want it, then let the heavens tremble!"

A pulse of green energy erupted from the Green Dragon Princess’s body, scattering the players’ next wave of attacks. In response, Li Yao swapped his Star Bow for the Reaper’s Scythe.

The scythe in his grip transformed instantly, shrouded in swirling mist, revealing the tormented souls of countless dragon phantoms wailing and writhing.

Tendrils extended around Li Yao’s body as the scythe spun in his grasp, resembling a windmill slicing through the air. Its blade glimmer expanded into circular arcs, first limited to nearby surroundings but soon swelling to a radius of hundreds of yards.

Those targeting the Green Dragon and Li Yao gleefully mocked him, assuming he was incapable of fighting back in such conditions. To them, retreat seemed his only viable option.

They imagined themselves basking in glory as players who drove Prairie Fire and the Green Dragon Princess fleeing in disgrace.

"Fools—who will subdue the Faceless One without Prairie Fire and the Green Dragon Princess? Gullible brats, unworthy of strategy. Let’s move toward Demon Maw instead," Edward muttered darkly, leading his guild away from the chaos...
