Chapter 1444: Chapter 1444: Guardian of Order
Li Yao directly allocated the equipment to Tongtong. The blueprint could only be used to craft purple bracers; Flash could only make them golden, so Li Yao didn’t allocate them yet but left them on the public allocation interface.
"You lost the first match. Will you continue fighting?"
"Fight? How could we not fight?" The old Dwarf scoffed, "My subordinates are not weak. They simply underestimated the young lady and didn’t grasp her strength, becoming complacent. Moreover, he was unlucky. The girl’s summoned creature just happened to counter ours; otherwise, just the mutated rat would have secured victory."
However, in the players’ eyes, it was a different situation altogether. In particular, Tongtong’s grasp of combat details inspired many, who believed that Tongtong had taken her class characteristics to the extreme.
The fact that she considered creating special Armor for her mount to protect the easily destroyed totems demonstrated a true play to her strengths and avoidance of weaknesses.
What they admired most was Tongtong’s youth; not only did she have a unique understanding of her class, but the application of her skills left them in awe.
It wasn’t as if there were no Totem Sas, or that no one used the erupting lava streams of Magma Giants, but they were primarily used for area-of-effect damage.
Tongtong had a clear advantage as the opponent possessed an aerial pet.
If she couldn’t contain the opponent’s aerial pet, Tongtong would become very passive.
In a duel between experts, if one is disrupted, defeat is nearly certain.
Yet, at the right moment, Tongtong used the dispersal energy generated by her summon to knock down the flying Mechanical Bat, forcing it to switch to rat form.
Many experts played back this scene repeatedly. It showed not only Tongtong’s powerful spiritual power but her true transformation of spiritual power into actual combat power. Only a small fraction of top players could achieve this, and given Tongtong’s tender age, how could they not be filled with admiration?
Li Yao shook his head slightly: "A loss is a loss. Our Tongtong doesn’t need to understand you Goblins. Making excuses is merely the comfort of cowards."
"Well said. Then let us demonstrate our power with facts." The old Dwarf, far from being angry, agreed with Li Yao’s comment, "The battle has just begun, and everything is still uncertain. The unknown is what makes us look forward to it most. You outsiders will never understand the pain of seeing life from the brink of death."
"A Prophet once said the same, and I agree. Moreover, you want to break out, which is right, but your mistake is that you chose the wrong opponent. This seals our enmity." Li Yao sighed, "Let’s not waste time. Let’s discuss what comes next; will we send someone new, or will you continue to send challengers against Tongtong?"
"I just said it, the unknown is what we anticipate and find thrilling. The Goblin just revealed a lot, and sending someone new is too targeted and lacks suspense—it’s boring, just boring. Last match we made the first move, now why don’t you nominate someone first?"
The old Dwarf waved his hand, and his subordinates swiftly collected the corpse of the Goblin.
"That’s fine." Li Yao didn’t particularly care. Though the ancient game emphasized class counters, these counters were general statements about basic classes.
In reality, each basic class had many elite classes. Even if some classes suppressed others, it was limited; there were no absolute class counters.
The determination of victory in a battle, in the words of ancient Huaxia, was about "Heaven, Earth, and Human" factors.
"Heaven" did not refer to the weather but rather timing: whether one was at peak condition with many skills at one’s disposal.
"Earth" was easier to explain: environmental factors. Some classes have high environmental requirements. For example, without special Light Body Skill or a high-level stealth method, a Thief can still leave footprints in the sand, showing environmental influence.
Different classes might gain or lose effectiveness based on the environment, and each player was different.
As for the "Human" factor, it meant one’s equipment and skill: good equipment and strong skills naturally lead to success, sometimes even offsetting the Heaven and Earth factors.
Starfire’s first rank and gear quality determined an expert, followed by the monthly grand competition, fostering a strong competitive spirit within Starfire.
Essentially, there were monthly competitions, standing out among the experts. Li Yao could proudly say that any member of his core team was a super expert capable of standing on their own.
So who would fight was not of much concern to him, nor was there any selection process; he just said, "Too many monks and not enough porridge, let’s roll for it. Whoever rolls the highest goes second."
The core team members were all eager to try; not just for the rewards, but more importantly, to showcase their strengths and then receive individual feedback from Li Yao during the rest period.
Such an opportunity was precious. For example, Starfire’s monthly grand competitions, gaining a certain ranking would allow one to choose their own rewards, among which the most popular was personal guidance from Li Yao himself.
And those in the core team who adventured with Li Yao naturally had more opportunities, seeing more and therefore receiving feedback on more shortcomings.
Aside from Sister Li and the Guardian Angel, everyone else, including the enchantress Feng Yi, rolled the dice. They purely did not want to be left out and were bursting with the desire to fight.
After several rounds of competition, finally, Starfire’s top Druid, ID Guardian of Order, clinched victory with a perfect roll of one hundred.
Guardian of Order hadn’t been with the guild for a short time, but he had previously been unremarkable and solitary, not very sociable except with two or three friends, and preferred to act alone most of the time.
It was said he wasn’t really solitary but rather committed to a quest he had been undertaking since the beginning of the game. Apparently, he had recently completed the task and thus began actively participating.
But his contributions and points to the guild absolutely met the core team’s standards, and in this competition, he emerged as the biggest dark horse.
In one fell swoop, he defeated the former top Druid, "Shape-shifter Baby," and became the chief Druid of Starfire.
His most spectacular aspect was his various transformation forms. Normal Druids use the cheetah for Travel Form, excelling in running. His Travel Form was a yak, with abundant stamina and able to carry four people with ease, effectively transporting a small team.
While common Druids use the feral cat in Feral Form, a type of fierce beast, his Feral Form was a Phantom Tiger, semi-transparent, and blending into the environment.
For Defense Form, others summon bears, but he would become an Earth Bear.
Owl Beast, the nature-aligned Spellcaster, in his form was a Treant.
As for the Treant Form, he was no different from the typical healing Treants.
But when it came to flying Form, that was where he shined. Normal Druids would take Crow Form...
