Mercenary’s War
Chapter 1155 - 1155 One Thousand One Hundred Thirty-Eight The End of the Strong Crossbow

1155: Chapter One Thousand One Hundred Thirty-Eight: The End of the Strong Crossbow 1155: Chapter One Thousand One Hundred Thirty-Eight: The End of the Strong Crossbow The firepower diminished, and the Rebel Army surrounding the breach noticed this.

Then, a brave soldier stood up and, using all fours, scrambled over the rubble and charged into the prison.

With this example before them, the rest of the Rebel Army began moving, most of them starting their fierce charge toward the prison.

There were people entering the prison one after the other, spread out over some distance.

Seeing more than thirty people had already entered, if nothing was done, the Rebel soldiers would make it to the jailhouse.

Saidev roared, “Fire!”

Between the buildings inside the prison, cover fire could conveniently be provided for each other.

A few dozen people weren’t a big problem.

Saidev only targeted the Rebel Army that had already entered, without cutting off the subsequent rebels’ path of entry.

The sound of gunfire intensified once again, and the rebels who had entered the prison fell to the ground one after another, while more continued to filter in behind them.

The situation appeared much more dangerous, but in reality, the rebels who had entered the prison attempting to engage in a substantial battle with the defending forces inside the buildings was an almost impossible mission.

Gao Yang didn’t pay attention to the Rebels who got in.

He continued to suppress the enemy’s direct fire, a task that didn’t allow him to massacre the nearby Rebel Army, nor display his extraordinary rate of fire.

However, his suppression provided a foundation for his comrades to attack with peace of mind.

Under Gao Yang’s suppression, the Rebel Army’s anti-aircraft cannons were hardly able to make a sound.

Whoever came close to the anti-aircraft guns would die, and it was the same with the heavy machine guns.

They could just sit there as spectators; if they didn’t want to die, they better not move.

Gao Yang didn’t only target the shooters but also the drivers on the vehicles.

Those driving the pickup trucks could approach the prison, but if they thought of driving out of Gao Yang’s shooting range, they’d be out of luck.

After all the trouble of letting the enemy into a controllable area, Gao Yang was not inclined to let them leave his control.

The Rebel Army’s direct suppression firepower wasn’t concentrated together; their positions were still quite scattered.

But this didn’t prevent Gao Yang from performing wide-ranging suppression.

Swinging his rifle back and forth, he shot at the shooters first, then the drivers, and then anyone who got near the anti-aircraft guns and machine guns; anyone approaching would get a bullet immediately.

For Gao Yang, his range was his domain of control; anyone inside his range was at his mercy.

What is combat control?

This is what it means.

“The eastern wall has been blown open, creating a breach!”

Saidev suddenly shouted; the Rebel Army had finally opened a second path outside of the main battlefield.

The west was the Rebel Army’s primary direction of the attack, and the enemy had placed all their heavy weaponry there, so after the battle commenced, although the east side of the prison also had defenses, it was much less compared to the west.

“Toad, Tyrannosaurus, go and help on the east side!”

Gao Yang gave the command, and Li Jinfang and Eileen immediately grabbed their rifles and ran towards the other side of the building.

At this moment, their role was to provide precision shooting support.

“The forces in the east are stretched thin!

But the situation is still controllable!”

After shouting to Gao Yang, Saidev raised his rifle and fired a shot at one of the Rebel soldiers entering the prison.

Gao Yang hadn’t fired for a moment, as the Rebel infantry were fiercely fighting in front of him, pressing forward aggressively, but they didn’t realize they hadn’t received fire support from the rear for quite some time.

The firepower that could cover those at the forefront had already been eliminated by Gao Yang.

Gao Yang’s firing was quick, he had already taken out the enemy operators of heavy weapons early on.

And those he couldn’t reach, like mortars and rocket-launchers hidden behind the buildings of the village, Tommy could take care of them.

After a quick scan, seeing that there wasn’t a single living person around all enemy heavy weapon points at the back, it wouldn’t be possible for anyone to operate those heavy weapons for a while, Gao Yang, who had nothing else to do, said gravely, “Rabbit, can you monitor the enemy’s suppression fire by yourself?”

“No problem, I’ve taken them all out; what issue could there be?

You go have some fun.

I’ll keep watch, and if I can’t cover it, I’ll call for you.”

Gao Yang shifted his gaze from the battlefield hundreds of meters away to his immediate surroundings only twenty or thirty meters below.

There had been continuous entry through the gate, the sound of gunfire was making it hard for him to stand by, so he decided to open fire on the enemies nearby.

It was too close; using Blade of Satan to fire would waste precious long-range ammunition, and the rate of fire would be limited by the scope.

It would be faster to use a regular rifle.

Gao Yang looked for a rifle, scanning around, but didn’t see any spare rifle he could use.

Everyone was deeply engaged in shooting, and Rafael, standing beside him, was firing with a SCAR-L at enemies who had already entered the prison.

Hence, Rafael had slung his 7.62mm SCAR-H over his back and switched to the 5.56mm SCAR-L to deal with the very close enemies.

Lyle’s SCAR-H was also equipped with a scope and had significant recoil.

Gao Yang preferred to use rifles firing M43 intermediate cartridges or 5.56mm NATO rounds.

Instead of borrowing Rafael’s weapon, he might as well use his own Blade of Satan.

Gao Yang looked around; the only spare rifle seemed to be Saidev’s, who was happily firing away with his SVD.

His AKM was slung on his back, unused at the moment.

“Major, lend me your AKM!”

Gao Yang ran over to Saidev and called out, then immediately praised loudly, “Hey, nice shooting!”

Gao Yang was quite surprised.

Saidev’s shooting practice was usually hard to watch, but now, in actual combat, he was remarkably accurate with the SVD, especially shooting at moving targets.

Saidev ceased fire, took the rifle off his back, and handed it to Gao Yang, saying loudly, “General, I find hitting stationary targets hard, but moving targets seem easier for me.”

Gao Yang took Saidev’s AKM, flipped open the folding stock, pulled back the action, and, leaning forward, began firing with rapid pops.

Gao Yang shot in single rounds; the rate of fire was definitely slower than automatic fire, but he was quickly taking down enemies.

The enemies who had entered Aleppo Prison were now eliminated.

Gao Yang fired off more than a dozen rounds, and with each shot, an enemy’s head busted open.

Rebel soldiers who had poked their heads out from cover to shoot at the defenders now had over a dozen more heads burst open.

Once he started firing, Gao Yang couldn’t stop.

He swept his rifle horizontally, hitting every visible head.

Along the way, he spotted a rebel soldier too scared to show his face, just carelessly spraying bullets.

Gao Yang, hands warmed up from shooting, took an easy shot that splintered the wrist of the enemy’s raised arm.

Before emptying one magazine, and after realizing there were no more targets to shoot at, Gao Yang searched again from the start, hitting heads when he saw heads, striking hands when he saw hands, shooting at anything he could see.

If an enemy was not well-hidden, exposing a shoulder or foot, Gao Yang would shoot without hesitation.

With the closest targets just over twenty meters away and the furthest less than fifty meters, size made no difference for Gao Yang; if he saw it, he shot it.

Reaching over to Saidev’s ammo bag, Gao Yang pulled out a magazine and slapped it into the AKM.

Saidev gave Gao Yang a complex look but did not speak, instead using his SVD to aim at a rebel soldier over two hundred meters away, charging towards them, and fired a shot.

The situation wasn’t very dangerous; the enemy’s heavy firepower was being taken out one by one, and the heavy weapons the rebels had initially fired from the village were now being targeted by Tommy’s mortars.

Gao Yang was extremely satisfied with his decision to bring Jansen into Satan’s ranks.

Jansen was a force multiplier for Satan’s warfare capabilities.

With Jansen, they had a broader field of vision, but the best part was the significant unleashing of Tommy’s combat effectiveness with Jansen’s help.

Moreover, the pairing of Tommy and Jansen was perfect.

Previously, Tommy could only strike targets he could visibly detect, but now with Jansen providing the vision, Tommy’s mortars struck with exhilarating precision.

Tommy, in command of a few mortars, kept firing nonstop.

He could hit any stationary target—a mark of precision even if not as fast as Gao Yang and his team.

Any enemy rally points and mortar positions fell within Tommy’s striking range, and if the enemy charged in large, dense formations, needless to say, they became Tommy’s targets as well.

The battle was still intense, but the enemy’s decline was becoming apparent.

The rebels’ infantry fought fiercely, but they had run out of suicide trucks that could make a decisive difference, and to a fortified bastion like Aleppo Prison, however many infantrymen came would just be giving themselves away for free.

Just then, Tommy suddenly said over the radio, “Boss, we’re running low on ammo!”

Gao Yang thought for a moment and said, “Keep firing, push the enemy back!

They don’t have the strength to continue the offensive.

Try to take out as much of their heavy weaponry as possible.

It will be a long time before they can recover to their current equipment levels.

This will help our defense in the long run.

Don’t hold back, keep firing, but make it count.”

“Understood, no wastage will happen.”

Gao Yang had great confidence in Tommy, and he had the same confidence in himself.

With him present, the large breach near the west gate was no longer a passageway for enemy entrance.

After firing a few shots, Gao Yang said in a deep voice, “Postman, Skunk, go help on the east side.

Little Fly, how’s your situation?”

“We no longer have any armored targets to engage.

We are now committed to combating enemy infantry.

Boss, there’s no problem on my end.”

The situation was turning for the better.

Gao Yang steadied his mind and ordered Andy He, who was still firing, “Dragon Knight, the situation is under control; you don’t need to fight here any longer.

Go help treat the wounded.”

Andy He put away his weapon and responded loudly, “Understood, I’m on my way.”

After sending Andy He to a more fitting position, Gao Yang casually shot at a few targets and then stopped firing again, looking at Saidev who was aiming his rifle and said in a deep voice, “Major, nice shooting.” (To be continued.
