Mercenary’s War
Chapter 1156 - 1156 One Thousand One Hundred Thirty-Nine Scope

1156: Chapter One Thousand One Hundred Thirty-Nine: Scope 1156: Chapter One Thousand One Hundred Thirty-Nine: Scope Saidev’s shooting in actual combat was much better than during practice.

Some people are just like that; you can ask them to shoot at a simple stationary target and they may not hit it, but give them a moving target that’s much more difficult and suddenly they hit every shot.

However, Saidev still could not qualify as a sniper or a marksman.

His shooting style had too many limitations, but regardless, seeing Saidev who struggled with fixed targets in training, now taking out one enemy after another with the SVD in actual combat, was indeed surprising to Gao Yang.

“Can you hit targets that are farther away?”

Gao Yang asked curiously, whereas Saidev said in a deep voice, “No, beyond three hundred meters, I can’t hit them.”

Gao Yang said in a low voice, “Oh, I see.

Then just shoot at the targets you’re good at and gradually practice.”

After saying a few words, Gao Yang put down his AKM and raised his Blade of Satan again to start shooting enemies at medium and long distances.

The Rebel Army never retreated despite their attacks being repelled, and their numbers were just too large; even though there were at least four to five hundred corpses strewn around the prison, the Rebels’ confidence hadn’t wavered.

“Boss, we must shake the enemy’s confidence to make them give up the attack.

Think of something!”

Eileen shouted over the radio, and the situation was indeed as she described.

The Rebel Army was unlikely to take Aleppo Prison, but as long as they didn’t realize it, they would continue attacking.

“There’s no good solution.

Let’s see if we can break the enemy’s willingness to attack by killing them off.”

Gao Yang truly had no better ideas.

He obviously couldn’t tell the Rebel Army to retreat, that they had no chance, just to let them back off so that they could also have a rest.

Although it was unlikely that the prison would fall, the casualties inflicted on the defenders by the Rebel Army were significant.

Satan’s men played a key role, but they were in relatively safe positions.

The dangerous yet indispensable positions had to be filled by the defenders of the prison.

Therefore, even though Satan’s men were not injured, it did not mean that the casualties of the prison guards were minimal.

Just then, Tommy urgently said over the radio, “Boss, we’re about to run out of shells!

I only have six shells left!”

With the enemy’s fierce offensive, the defenders had no choice but to repel them with the most powerful firepower.

The situation was not yet at a point where ammunition had run completely out; rifle bullets were not yet critical, but the heavy firepower ammunition had already been exhausted, mortars and rockets depleted, and heavy machine gun bullets were running low.

Only two shells left; these had to be saved for emergencies where mortars were necessary to solve problems that would otherwise be upsetting if there were no shells left.

After thinking for a bit, Gao Yang said over the radio, “Worker Bee, stop firing the shells.

Big Bird, come to my location, I need to assess the battlefield situation.”

Jansen’s position was not fixed; he was always on the move, and when it came to giving Tommy coordinates, speaking was definitely less accurate than letting Tommy directly see the monitor, which was also more convenient.

“Boss, two more breaches have been made here!

The enemy has made this their main direction of attack!”

Gao Yang received an update from Li Jinfang; the enemy couldn’t break through from the west, so they switched to attacking from the east.

They had approached the wall, and it was easy for them to blow it up.

“No threat from this side for now; I’ll go check the east side.”

Leaving a word with Saidev, Gao Yang quickly ran through the building with his gun towards the corner extending northeast from the Tristar Building.

Once he arrived at the location, Gao Yang realized that the eastern side was seeing much more intense fighting than the west.

Li Jinfang and Eileen were firing fiercely at the enemies from the east.

The Tristar Building was an excellent point for firing conditions, able to cover the northeast and west directions with crossfire.

For the enemy to break through, they would have to take down the Tristar Building first, but they no longer had the capability for an assault.

After their armored cars had exhausted their firepower, they were out of options.

Gao Yang raised his gun and took down several Rebels pouring in through a gap, then shouted loudly, “How’s the situation?”

Li Jinfang shouted back, “Everyone defending the top of the wall is dead!

The Rebels have now entered the area between the inner and outer walls!

The trenches are useless against the infantry.”

Gao Yang said in a deep voice, “It’s fine, they can’t get in.”

At that moment, another loud bang was heard, coming from the north.

Gao Yang’s position allowed for more convenient control of the enemy coming from the east, but to shoot at the northern enemy, he needed to change rooms.

The enemy had probably breached another pathway, so Gao Yang waved his hand and, with Li Jinfang and Eileen, hurriedly switched rooms.

There were definitely defenders on the northern wall, but after Gao Yang arrived at the room on the northern side, he found that a large number of enemy forces were pouring into the passageway the enemy had just created.

The enemy had been building up force, taking advantage of the moment the wall was blown open to flood in a large number of people, and the pre-arranged suppressive fire was also well executed, causing the situation to become somewhat chaotic for a while.

Gao Yang had no time to speak, as he was too busy firing his gun at the dozens of people surging through the breach.

They had no chance to spread out, and considering the distance of the Tristar Building from the north wall, the Rebel Army had no opportunity to reach the base of the building.

Just then, Eileen suddenly barked, “RPG!”

An enemy appeared, shouldering a Rocket Launcher and fired a rocket amidst the chaos, aiming straight for Gao Yang’s position.

Gao Yang turned and dove to the ground, just as a thunderous explosion roared above him.

The rocket shot through the window, struck the ceiling, and exploded.

Luckily, Gao Yang and his team were in a large area, and the rocket exploded seven or eight meters behind them.

They felt no strong blast wave, nor did they feel hit by shrapnel.

It was not an explosive blast fragmentation shell, but armor-piercing shells.

They should be alright.

If they had been in a smaller room, however, it would have been a different story.

Even though it was an armor-piercing shell, the force of the blast in a confined space would be unbearable.

The enemy’s suppression fire was effective.

Gao Yang got up and, after taking out several enemies at the breach with Rocket Launchers, he mopped up the rest who had breached the building.

Gao Yang had been using Saidev’s AKM because the enemies were close.

But after clearing out the nearby enemies, those approaching from the north were getting farther away.

Gao Yang immediately set down the AKM and grabbed the Blade of Satan from his back.

Raising the gun, Gao Yang hadn’t even gotten a shot off before he let out a terrible shriek.

“F**k!

My scope!

My scope!”

Gao Yang’s voice was altered with distress.

Li Jinfang asked urgently, “What happened?”

“My scope’s been hit, Curtis!

My gun scope, ahhh!”

Gao Yang’s heart bled, his shaky voice full of prolonged pain.

If it weren’t for mounting it on the Blade of Satan, Gao Yang’s scope would be worth more than the gun itself on most other firearms.

A great gun requires a great scope, and a good scope’s price is definitely not cheaper than the gun.

Take the Remington M700, for example.

It’s an affordable and reliable rifle, popular in both military and civilian use.

Many top-notch snipers and civilian marksmen use the Remington M700.

It’s not unusual for the scope to cost more than the rifle itself on this model.

A standard Remington M700 goes for around two thousand dollars.

Many people, after purchasing the gun, equip it with a three or four thousand dollar scope, which is quite normal for upscale marksmen.

Gao Yang’s rifle was beyond monetary value, and his scope was amongst the most expensive and not readily available to the general public.

The most frustrating aspect was Gao Yang’s familiarity with his scope.

It wasn’t just about having the best performing scope; even if a new and better-performing scope came out, he wouldn’t consider switching.

The reason was simple: the gun and scope needed to be in sync.

Because Gao Yang had finally acclimatized to his current scope to perfection, swapping for another would mean having to reacclimate all over again.

The scope wasn’t shattered.

There was a tiny white mark near the front end of the metal tube where a splinter had hit it.

Although the splinter only nicked a small pit in the scope, it did not stop it from being ruined.

With the intense vibration, a highly precise scope, already ruined, and now struck directly by a fragment, was certainly damaged beyond use.

Reluctantly, Gao Yang slung the Blade of Satan back over his shoulder and once again picked up the AKM, pulling the trigger continuously to vent his rage.

“Damn it, shoot my scope will you?

I’ll show you!”

Listening to Gao Yang’s roars, Eileen loudly said, “Boss, stay calm, you should be thankful actually.

It’s just the scope that’s damaged.

Just replace it with the same model when we get back.

You’d be heartbroken if your night vision device was broken.”

Gao Yang did feel much better.

The scope could be replaced with the same model, at worst requiring some time to get reacquainted.

However, if the night vision device he had acquired under the table from Angel Mercenary Corps got damaged, that would be a disaster.

The chances of acquiring another through underhanded means were slim, and purchasing one was an unknown prospect even with money.

Gao earnestly agreed, “Right, you’re right.

Thankfully, it wasn’t the night vision device.”

It was at this moment that Jansen urgently transmitted over the radio, “Boss, where are you?”

“Northeast corner, come over.”

Jansen quickly located Gao Yang, and upon seeing him, sprinted up to his side and said anxiously, “Boss, take a look at these people.

Do you think they’re the enemy’s command unit?”

Gao Yang turned and his eyes widened as he looked at the monitor, exclaiming loudly, “Where is this?”

In the monitor, a group of people exited a room and started conversing on the stairs.

In the middle of the crowd, surrounded by people, was a person who looked very familiar.
