Mated To The Dead Prince -
Chapter 38
Chapter 38: Chapter 38
Cassius walked behind Rose as she walked through the walkway to the slaves’ quarters.
Felonious had promised Cassius that he would study more about Rose; he had also pleaded with Cassius to decide what he wanted to decide what he wanted to do with Rose. If not, she would soon start to exhibit some signs of rejection.
The signs of rejection were in two forms, the first one was rejection of acknowledgment. If he failed to acknowledge her as the one who awakened him, her soul might register that they were not appreciated, and each time they were near him, it might want to get far away from him by any means, including death. It could get that serious especially when he failed to mark her as a slave.
The second one, which was the most important, and the one Felonious believed was the real problem, was the feeling of being rejected by a mate.
No matter how both of them tried to deny that attraction, Felonious believed that a time would come when they couldn’t stay away from each other, if they kept being stubborn, one of them had to die, and it wouldn’t be Cassius, death was something that couldn’t be related with Cassius, he was already undead, the person who would be the mortal mate, Rose.
The reason why she had returned from earth even after Cassius let her go was because her soul could no longer exist in a world where it didn’t feel Cassius, it would have been bearable for her if they hadn’t had sex, but that was already a step to the first process of mating.
They had unconsciously bound themselves to each other, creating an unseen bond that couldn’t let the other exist without the other.
The question was; how long was it going to take before Rose died? Cassius had made it clear that he was never going to make a human, and everyone knew the reason for that, except Rose, of course.
This unacceptable bond between the mortal girl and the vampire king was something that would leave everyone in suspense. Everyone was going to wonder how they would navigate it at the end; even Felonious couldn’t say for sure how it would be.
It was forbidden; Cassius forbade it himself; going against his own rule has never been an option for him.
Rose reached the door of the slaves’ quarters and paused; she didn’t understand why Cassius was following her; he had asked her to go shower and return to him, but he’d been following her all the way from Felonious’ lair to the slaves’ quarters.
She slowly turned and looked at Cassius, "I can go up on my own, Sir...you don’t have to-"
"You have five minutes," Cassius cut her off.
"I’ll be right here. Go," He said and turned away from her.
Rose was confused as she saw Cassius move closer to the garden and paused, standing calmly beside the garden.
She couldn’t reply to him; she had already been given a time frame, and she didn’t want to get in trouble with him.
She quickly turned and went into the slave’s quarters. She didn’t look at Susan, who was staring at her with curiosity; she knew the woman would have stopped her if she hadn’t been aware of Cassius’ presence outside the building.
She quickly went up the stairs and ran into her room.
Rose gently removed Cassius’ cloak and placed it on her bed. She went inside her room and found water inside the bucket in her bathroom and something that looked like a small bar of red soap.
She didn’t know how they got there, but she wasn’t about to question it. She was going to assume it was left for her to use, and she would use it as long as it made her beat the time Cassius had given her.
She gritted her teeth as she poured the cold water on her body, but she didn’t let the cold deter her, she picked up the soap and leathered it all over her body.
After the quick wash, she hurried out of the bathroom worrying about what to wear. She thought she was going to have to wear Cassius’ cloak again, but she was surprised to find a red dress on her bed beside Cassius’ cloak; it was in the same design as the white one she had previously worn.
She quickly wore it and fixed her leg on the red slippers that were also left beside her bed.
Her hair was a little messy, but that was the least of her problems; she picked up the cloak and hurried out of the room.
As she walked down the stairs, she observed that the few slaves she passed were looking strangely at her. However, they never dared to utter a word and she knew why.
She ignored them and hurried down the stairs, and once again, she ignored Susan, who had now left her counter and was standing beside it.
Rose was surprised to find Cassius standing in the same position he was when she left him; she took a deep breath and walked over to him.
Cassius heard Rose walking toward him and slowly turned to look at her. He got mesmerized when he saw her in that red dress.
The white dress had given her an innocent look, but this red one evoked some kind of power around her.
He felt like he was the slave this time, a slave to her effortless seduction; she loomed so daring and ready. The moon cast its pure light upon her fair skin which contrasted perfectly to the colour of her dress.
Rose gulped when he saw Cassius staring at her with hooded eyes; he pinned her down with his stare, making her cherished turn as red as her dress and the roses around her.
"I’m here," Rose managed to say even when the weight of his stare was making her uncomfortable.
Cassius nodded and removed his eyes from her, "Follow me, Rose," He said in a calm voice and started to walk toward the castle.
Rose sighed and followed him; she hoped she would meet the next morning; she couldn’t wait to return to her room and check her phone for Laura’s replies; she had just discovered more things she would love to share with Laura.
She wanted to see what Laura would say when she told her that the people of this kingdom called her "the Lux." And she wished she could see Laura’s reaction when told her that she might just be the Vampire King’s mate.
"Do you know how to write?" Cassius asked as they reached the red-carpeted stairs.
Rose almost scoffed, but she simply nodded, "Yes," she replied.
What sort of useless question was that? Was this the 5th to 15th century when education was restricted for women?
Cassius could feel the ridicule from Rose, but he ignored her; he would see if she would still find him ridiculous when he did what he had in plans for her.
Rose followed Cassius and walked past the study; she was confused; she thought that he had wanted her to help him out with some work after asking if she could read.
She was surprised to see that he was leading her up the stairs that led to his room.
They had just started climbing the second stairs when Rose felt a wish of wind move past her in speed, causing her to almost lose her balance, but she was surprisingly caught by someone behind her.
"I got you," Dabmond’s voice sounded behind her.
Rose quickly moved away from him, not understanding what was going on.
She was about to ask Dabmond if he was the one who caused the wind to almost push her down when she heard Cassius’ voice, and it wasn’t just his normal calm, velvety voice; it was his low, seething, and dangerous voice.
"Leave the path, Alan," Cassius warned.
Rose snapped her head to see who Cassius was talking to.
"Eliot," She whispered.
"Stay," Dabmond held her hand, stopping her from going to him.
Rose blinked and realized what she was about to do. She had wanted to go to Eliot, which was a bad idea given the tense atmosphere between him and Cassius.
"You’re supposed to do better, Brother. Why did you send her to the night house?" Eliot asked angrily.
Cassius’ dark chuckle reached Rose’s ears, sending shivers down her spine. She clued to feel the managing aura emanating from him, and she feared what the outcome of this conversation would be.
"Since when do you question my action, Alan?" Cassius asked, moving closer to Eliot.
Eliot scoffed, "Don’t always forget I was born before you, Cassius Levi," He spoke in a daunting tone.
That was the first time Rose heard Eliot referred to Cassius by his full name.
Cassius’ face hardened, "True, but it’s not about who was born first, brother. It’s about power, it’s about recognition. I own the kingdom," He reminded in a chilling voice.
Diamond sighed beside Rose as if this was something he was used to seeing and was already bored of it.
"Why did you send her there, Brother?" Eliot’s eyes were starting to glow a bright golden yellow, a clear message of his tamper.
"You don’t question, your master, Alan," Cassius replied.
"Don’t answer. Watch me take her; I’m sending her back to the human world this moment; I don’t care about your stupid no portal rules," Eliot moved past Cassius, shrugging past him.
That action might have ticked Cassius the wrong way, or it might have been what Eliot had said, no one knew, but the next thing they saw was Cassius’ shiny claw up in the air as he leaped into the air to claw at Eliot, his face looked paler with his fangs fully drawn out and his eyes redder than usual.
"Brother!" Dabmond wasn’t even sure which of his brothers he was calling. All he knew was that he was never to get in a fight between them, it was forbidden. Getting in a fight meant taking a side, and he couldn’t do that.
However, he thought that stopping his brothers from fighting was the most important thing, but his dead heart died again when he saw Rose running toward Cassius, and it was too late for him to stop her.
"Stop!" Rose shouted as she pushed Eliot out of the way and now stood in front of Cassius.
Everyone knew that Cassius had gone beyond reasoning, they knew that Rose was going to die. Eliot might have fought him off after sustaining reasonable injuries, but Rose stood no chance.
Cassius descended on Rose, his claws ready to tear in pieces.
However, instead of clawing at her, his hand wrapped around Rose’s neck, and they thought he was going to strangle her, but in the next second, Cassius closed his eyes and fell on Rose, pushing her to the floor with his weight.
"What the actual fuck?!" Dabmond muttered in shock.
