Chapter 39: Chapter 39

Rose was standing behind Felonious and Cassius’ brothers as they surrounded his bed large bed.

Felonious had insisted that she stay in the room, saying that she was the reason for his situation, so as a last resort, she would be forced to wake him, just as she had done before.

She had no idea what she was going to do if it came to that; how was she supposed to get Cassius to wake up? She didn’t even know what made him unconscious in the first place.

"Hey," Eliot met Rose and gently held her arm, "Are you okay?" He questioned.

Rose slowly nodded, "I’m fine...how is he?" She looked past Eliot and saw Felonious circling some weird-looking crystal around Cassius’ face.

"He’ll be fine. No one touched you, right? At the nighthouse?" Eliot asked.

Rose shook her head, "It was a demon...but he saved me," She whispered.

Eliot frowned. "He did? Why?"

Rose frowned, "What do you mean why? He saved me. Should he not have?" She asked in disbelief.

Eliot shook his head, holding her tighter, "No, that’s not what I meant... it’s just a surprise that he cared enough to save you... it’s not like him. Please, don’t get it the wrong way." He explained.

Rose sighed, "Yeah... it’s not like him..." She stared at Cassius.

Felonious took the crystal away and faced Eliot.

"He’s fine, just in a shock. Let this be kept within, for we know how it would look when word gets out that the vampire king fell unconscious by a human slave," Felonious announced to the brothers and walked toward the door.

"Felonious," Eliot called, turning away from Rose.

"Yes, My prince?" Felonious answered with his head bowed.

"I don’t appreciate half-truths. Speak now," Eliot commanded.

Felonious sighed, looking over at Rose.

Rise was confused. Why was Felonious staring at her as if she was the reason for Cassius’ situation?

"I didn’t want to say it, my Prince, I do not want to offend you, given your relationship with her," Felonious pointed at Rose.

Eliot frowned, "Say it, Felonious, we need to know what happened to our brother," He insisted.

"Master Cassius is not really in shock. He’s in denial. The crystal I used around his face is a mirror crystal that tells how a person’s mind is. His body is in absolute denial of the fact that it shut down itself because it didn’t want to hurt his mate. His mind already recognized Rose as his mate, but his heart didn’t. He’s actually just sleeping while his brain brain tries to understand why what happened, happened." Felonious explained.

Rose could feel five pairs of eyes on her; Cassius’ four brothers and Felonious were staring at her with different emotions in their eyes.

She wasn’t really surprised by the information. Cassius had already made it clear to her that he never wanted her as a mate, and she was fine with it. She just wasn’t to hear that his own body was fighting him to accept her.

She didn’t want him so his body could stop fighting; even if he woke up and changed his mind, she wouldn’t still want him. She wanted to go home, not stuck up here with a vampire as a husband.

"She’s really something, huh?" Damien chuckled, smiling at Rose.

He wanted to lower himself on Cassius’ bed but Damon pulled him up by the arm. "You’re not allowed to sit, Damien," He reminded quietly.

Damien sighed and shrugged, "Then, can we leave already since he’s not dying, it’s not our turn to rule yet..." He muttered.

He felt the eyes of his three brothers on him, judging him, "Come on, guys, I was joking," He said, looking from one person to another.

"Let’s see how he appreciates your dark humor when he wakes up," Dabmond threatened.

"Aw, come on, twin, you wouldn’t, right?" Damien widened his eyes at Dabmond.

Dabmowas about to respond when Eliot spoke up, "Quiet. It’s time to leave," He ordered.

Dabmond frowned, "Leave him? Shouldn’t we be by his side when he wakes up? What if he needs us?" He questioned worriedly.

Felonious cleared his throat, "Um, The first prince is actually right; it’s a good idea if you all can leave his room; he needs absolute silence at the moment," He informed.

Rose saw it as her cue to leave, "Then allow me to leave first," She bowed her head to them and walked toward the door.

"I’m afraid not, Rose," Felonious stood in her way.

"Why not?" Eliot was the one who asked.

Rose stared at Felonious, waiting for him to tell her why she couldn’t leave too.

"She needs to be the first person he sees when he wakes up; it’s like I said, he’s at work with himself, and if he wakes up and doesn’t find the last person he saw before blacking, it might lead to a more severe situation. He doesn’t want her, but his body wants her,"

"I don’t want him, either," She muttered.

She didn’t want to stand there and listen to them talk about her as if she was the one dying for Cassius to mate her.

Eliot walked up to her and placed a gentle hand on her waist, "Don’t be angry...I’ll hang around, I’ll see you when you come down, alright?" He whispered beside her.

Rose took a deep breath and slowly nodded, "Alright,"

Eliot smiled at her, "You look stunning by the way. The color suits you," He kissed her cheek, causing Rose to blush from embarrassment.

"Thank you," She said to him.

"Aww, love is in the air. See you around, Rosy," Damirn said to her as he walked out of the room with his twin brothers.

Eliotbnidded at Rose before walking out of the room too.

Felonious gave Rose a meaningful look, "If I may, I know you wouldn’t want to, but if you want to have at least a little peace while you’re in our kingdom, I suggest you treat the master with love and respect. Being stubborn with him only leads both of you to more trouble, have a nice day," He slowly turned and walked away, leaving Rose in the room with Cassius.

Rose sighed.

She turned and stared at Cassius, who was lying on the bed; she stood there for a while before deciding to walk over to his bed.

She stopped right beside him, staring at his beautiful face.

Was it possible? What did Felonious say? Would she be able to overlook Cassius’ evil treatments and words toward her and just treat him with love and respect as Felonious suggests? It was hard to imagine. She didn’t think she could do it.

She kept staring at his face and wished that his attitude toward her was at least half as fine as his face; she wouldn’t have any trouble respecting him; however, loving him was completely out of the question; she could never.

She took a deep breath and lowered herself on the chair beside his bed.

Rose suddenly felt sleepy, this was the first time she was sitting with no order or duty waiting for her. She quietly yawned, slowly resting her head on the headrest and closing her eyes. She was going to wake up before Cassius did, she just needed to rest her eyes.

After a while, Rose felt like she’d slept enough, so she decided to slowly open her eyes and check on Cassius. However, she realized that she wasn’t in the position she remembered. She had placed her head against the chair; why was her upper body bent over as she lay her head on Cassius’ bed, using her arms as pillows?

She suddenly recalled Dammon telling Damien that he wasn’t allowed to sit on Cassius’ bed, and alarm bells went off in her head.

His own blood wasn’t even allowed to get near the bed, but look at her rubbing her skin all over the place.

She quickly raised herself off the bed; she would just have to pretend like nothing happened; she couldn’t risk tucking off a vampire who wasn’t at peace with himself.

However, Rose got the shock of her life when she readied her head to find a shirtless Cassius calmly staring at her.

"Ah," Rise gasped.

She darted her eyes around, not able to look at him directly; guilt and embarrassment weren’t letting her look at him.

Why was he suddenly shirtless?

"Did you enjoy your sleep?" Cassius asked gently.

Rose gulped, "I’m sorry, I never meant to touch your bed, I was just sleeping on the chair, but when I woke up, I found myself here, I promise," She tried convincing.

Cassius remained unreadable, he felt strange watching Rose blush as she tried he best to explain herself.

He should have been angry about what she did, but he wasn’t; he had heard everything everyone said in the room, and he was starting to wonder if this was his body also forcing him to be fine with whatever she did.

Strange enough, he wanted to see where this feeling arrived him at.

"Can you write?" He asked her the same question again.

Rose was taken off guard; she was expecting him to say something cold and demeaning as usual; she never expected him to ask some random question that he had asked before.

Bjt she answered anyway, she preferred answering that question to looking for reasons to tell him why she slept on his bed.

"Yes, I can," Rose finally looked at him, his green eyes immediately drawing her in.

"Good," He gracefully got out of bed and walked over to the table beside the window.

Rose couldn’t resist looking at his lean body. He always got her attention without even trying. His lean, sexy muscles flexed as he drew out the draw and took out a stash of papers, placing them on top of the table.

She found him very alluring and seductive, her graceful movements combined with her mysterious darkness turned her on; she couldn’t deny that.

Cassius placed a black pen beside the paper and then turned to Rose.

He slowly walked back to her and leaned his upper body down to her, his face, leaning into hers, "There are three empty sheets and one that’s been written on," He held her gaze as he spoke, his hand moved up and gently cupped Rose’s cheek, "Do you know what you’re going to die, little human?" He questioned seductively.

Rose slowly nodded her head in his hand, "You need me to copy the content of the written sheet into the empty ones," Her voice was whispery and unsure.

Cassius nodded at her, "Good girl," He suddenly kissed her, a gentle kiss that made Rose moan into his mouth.

He leaned away, stepping back, "You have five minutes, little human," He informed her and walked into his bathroom, leaving Rose to wonder what was going on between them.
