Mated To The Dead Prince -
Chapter 37
Chapter 37: Chapter 37
"What have you found about her blood, Felonious. Is safe yet?" Cassius asked, stepping away from Rose.
Felonious moved over to the table beside him, carrying a huge book in his hands; he walked over to Cassius and Rose and placed the book on the table near Cassius.
Rose tightly held Cassius’ cloak in between her shoulders, curiously turning her head to look at the book that Felonious had brought over.
What did Cassius mean by ’Is it safe yet?’ Was he really waiting to drink her blood? Did he actually want to kill her by draining her?
"Master, I have recently come across an unbelievable theory regarding Rose’s signs and evolution, it seems she might be what the first vampires called the ’Lux.’ It is simply the word for light. However, its spirituality can represent or correlate to enlightenment, spiritual awakening, and device guidance. My speculation is that is how she was able to locate your grave and awaken you from your deep sleep," Felonious pointed to the dark page; he waved his hands over it, and glowing golden letters started to appear on it. They were written in Romania but Rose was able to read them.
"Lux, a mysterious being that represents the symbol of light, illumination, understanding, and liberation..." Felonious paused and glanced at Cassius.
He knew Cassius was starting to understand how to put the puzzles together. He started to see the reasons why Rose was the way she was.
"Liberation..." Cassius frowned, turning his face to look at Rose, who looked so lost and deep in thought.
"Yes, Master, from what I have read from the book that was written by the first vampires, they said her type had only lived once, unfortunately, they killed her because she was the only thing that threatened their existence, as you know, her blood is poison to the dark creatures, and that is were her liberation and light comes in. She lives for the sole purpose of cleansing the dark creatures, especially the undead." He stopped and dragged the book closer to himself.
He stared down at the opened page and continued reading, "However, The Lux’s connection to darkness lies in the fact that light can also reveal and destroy, casting shadows and exposing secrets." He finished and waved his hand over the page, making the letters disappear one by one.
That was his way of preserving his secret knowledge, only he knew the spell he cast on all his books, if any other person opened it, all they would see were blank, dark pages, and not a single word would be found
"Can I go? Please, I need to put a dress on," Rose’s voice was a whisper.
Cassius’ eyes had been locked on her from the moment Felonious started to read those pages, he couldn’t understand how he felt toward her.
He thought he’d be enraged after learning that Rose was a threat to his people; well, to an extent, he was. But for most of it, he was pure curious.
Why her? How did she become the ’Lux?’ Why did he have a connection with her?
He raised his hand and slowly picked the strands of her hair from her shoulder, his other hand going under her chin to lift her face.
"The Lux..." His voice was smooth, his eyes boring right into her soul.
"How did she come about?" Cassius was speaking to Felonious but his eyes were still locked with Rose’s.
Rose gulped; everything was making her dizzy. Was there ever going to be a day when she caught her breath in this Darkonis kingdom?
She was tired, the man in front of her was the main cause of her problem, he was out to frustrate and kill her. She was barely hanging on to her sanity.
"I’m sorry, master, but none of the books have mentioned how the first of her kind came to be, but there’s been a mention of a man who was alive in her time and still lives till today. However, his whereabouts are just as mysterious as his existence. I apologize for failing to provide you with the information you seek but I shall keep searching until I’ve found out everything about her, Master," Felonious bowed his head.
Cassius was quiet, "Quite interesting," He said to Rose.
"And, did they mention why she hurt some dark creatures and states harmless to the other?" Cassius slowly held Rose’s hand and made her stand.
"No, Master. But, from my speculation, I believe this happens when she is comfortable with a creature, perhaps what the elders failed to note was that the Lux might actually be a threat to the undead, maybe she was a threat to all beings, however, she could only become a threat to you if she sensed a dark and malicious power inside you, which is what most of the dark creatures bear, a dark and malicious aura," Felonious explained.
Cassius watches Rose and raises the corner of his lips in a faint smile. "I don’t want your speculations, Felonious. I need facts." He stated.
Felonious nodded, "Yes, Master. I will research more about it." He assured.
Cassius moved away from Rose, suddenly remembering the dream she had in the morning, he also wanted an answer to that.
"I need you to find out why I go to her, Felonious. I go to her, and I’ve never done it before; it’s as if she’s slowly taking control of my subconscious. She dreams it, but I do it for real; why is it so?" Cassius asked quietly.
Rose frowned, she was hoping what Cassius said wasn’t what she was thinking it was.
Felonious slowly walked back to the table where he had taken the book and dropped it back, he pulled out a drawer and took out a silver knife, the candles on the floor flickered along the sharp and shiny edge of the knife, warning the victim of the sharp pain that was soon coming to him or her.
Rose gulped, she hoped she wasn’t that victim, Felonious was used to drawing blood from her, just for the sole purpose of reserving about her, if he were to slice any part of her body at that moment, she would pass out because she was more than exhausted, she was barely hanging on.
"It is strange but not uncommon, Master. Our kind I’d known for being territorial and carnal. We are exotic creatures known for giving pleasure. If I may, Master?" Felonious stood in front of Cassius and bowed his head.
"You may," Cassius raised his hand to Felonious.
Rose watched curiously as Felonious took a transparent bowl from the table and held it under Cassius’ hand, he muttered a spell and removed his hand from the bowl, leaving the transparent bowl to float under Cassius’ hand.
Rose gasped quietly in shock, she was literally living in her books, if only this was like a vacation, take out the fact that she was really experiencing the dangers and reality of this world firsthand, she would have loved to become invisible and tour the kingdom, the place was so cool, fantasy cool, and she would have wanted nothing but to have the freedom to go anywhere she liked without getting killed by a demon or any other creature of the night.
Her eyes were fixed on the floating bowl until she saw the shimmer of the silver knife as Felonious raised it to Cassius raised hand.
She bit her lips anxiously as she watched the knife slice effortlessly into Cassius’ palm. His face remained the same as if he hadn’t been cut by a sharp knife.
His blood was darker than a human’s, dark purplish and blueish thick liquid. If he were a human, he would be diagnosed with hypoxia.
The blood dripped into the liquid, settling at the bottom of it.
"Thank you, Master," Felonious held the bowl again.
Cassius didn’t respond; he only covered the sliced palm with his fingers, and when he opened it in the next second, the cut was gone.
Rose was always baffled by how fast vampires healed; she was left at a crossroads to choose between a vampire and a werewolf; she didn’t know whose healing power was the coolest and fastest.
At the end of the day, she chose the vampires.
"I shall use what I have from Rose to experiment on your blood; we shall keep if it is now safe to make her your slave or not," Felonious announced as he carried the bowl away.
"About what you said, may I ask if this happened before you had her or after?" Felonious asked, pouring a blue liquid inside the bowl with Cassius’ blood.
Cassius suddenly turned to Rose, his eyes darkening seductively, shocking Rose.
"Before I had her," He replied.
Felonious hummed, "It’s uncommon, Master, I’m afraid these are signs that she belongs to you, and not as a slave, but as a mate. If what I have read about her kind is correct, then she would soon develop a telepathic connection to you where she hears your thoughts even without saying it out," He informed.
Cassius nodded, "She has," He replied calmly, his eyes slowly running up and down Rose’s body.
Rose gulped, what did they mean? Did they mean that her dream hadn’t been a dream? Cassius had come to her for real?
Why?
