Chapter 33: Chapter 33

Rose felt a strong headache and winced from the pain.

She felt a soft surface on her back and suddenly remembered what had happened. The headache was probably a result of her transmigration back to the human world.

Rose was happy, Laura must have carried her up to the bed after she passed out.

She slowly started to smile; she didn’t know what force brought her back to the human world, but she was glad. She admits to having been interested in Cassius, but if she had two options, she’d pick her normal life to stay back in the Darkonis kingdom.

She didn’t bother to open her eyes; she just wanted to lay on her bed for a while and feel the reality of Dawn on her.

"You look too happy to be back here, Rose," Felonious’ voice forced her eyes open.

Rose sat up on the bed and snapped her head toward the direction of the voice.

"Impossible," She whispered, feeling her world crumbling down before her.

She hastily looked around and realized that she was lying on Cornelia’s bed.

She slowly started to shake her head, "No, I must be hallucinating, or hit my head hard when I fell; I can’t be back here. I...I was back in my house, with my friend..." She trailed off and looked around the room, looking for any hint that this was a hallucination, but everything seemed real; she knew it was real. The look Cornelia was giving her told her that her reality was exactly what she feared.

"On the contrary, you didn’t hit your head anywhere, dear, you just appeared and...fell into my arms," Cornelia chuckled beside Felonious.

"It’s fascinating, you might just be the only human who’s ever crossed and chosen to return," Felonious commented.

Rose brought her legs down to the floor and sat on the edge of the bed, "What happened? Why did I travel back to my world? And, why and how am I back here?" She questioned with a deep frown.

Felonious was about to speak when Cornelia’s door was suddenly opened by no one else but Cassius.

Rose’s heart skipped a beat the moment he walked in with his intimidating aura. For the split second, she spent in the human world, she was so sure she wasn’t going to see that face again, but here she was, staring at the devilishly handsome face of her captor.

Cassius walked over to her, pausing in front of her; the room was quiet as everyone waited for the Master to speak first.

"Go on, Felonious, tell me why she came back, even after I’d personally created a portal for her," Cassius spoke, tracing his finger across Rose’s jaw.

Rose was shocked, she looked into Cassius’ eyes and slowly opened her mouth.

However, she didn’t know what to say or ask.

She suddenly felt hurt realizing that Cassius was the one who sent her back to her world.

So she really meant nothing to him? Just when she was starting to find him interesting, he threw her away like she never existed.

He used her and decided he was tired of her, so he sent her back from where she was without any words.

Rose knew her thoughts were irrational, but for some reason, learning that he was the cause of her momentary return to the human world made her hurt.

"If I may speak at some personal level, Master?" Felonious carefully asked.

Cassius removed his hand from Rose’s jaw and nodded, "You may," was his short response as he stepped away from her, but his eyes remained on her.

He was curious to know how what made his little human return to him after he had set her free.

Felonious moved forward and stood beside Rose, he gently held her wrist, "For some reason, when she returned to our world, she felt so cold, almost like an undead, but the moment her body touched the earth, she started to warm up," He paused and watched Rose’s face as confusion masked it.

"What do you mean?" Rose asked.

"You returned for his sake," Felonious stated.

Rose vigorously shook her head, "No, no, you’re mistaken; I didn’t return for him; I didn’t even know how I returned," she denied.

"Well, it’s true, you didn’t know when you returned, but your body and heart did. Your body recognizes the master as it’s..." He paused and turned to Cassius to find him looking g intently at Rose.

"Recognize me as what, Felonious?" Cassius’ voice calmly asked.

Felonious sighed and looked back to Rose. "She recognized you as her mate, Master," He delivered.

"Impossible," Cassius refuted.

Rose was frozen in place.

Fuck, it was finally over; now she couldn’t even return even if she found a way to; her body thinks Cassius was her mate? There is an error somewhere.

"Yes, Master, Impossible. But, that is why she returned to you. She would have died if she didn’t. The half-mating you did with her is dangerous; mates never mate halfway...it’s dangerous for our kind," Felonious explained further.

"She’s not our kind," Cassius came forward, his green eyes slowly searching Rose’s face.

"That’s what we believe, but this shows that Rose is but entirely human as we believed, no human would recognize her mate without being marked by a bite and blood, sex was just sex to humans, but Rose barely recognized you the moment you lay with her master," Felonious nowed his head.

Everywhere was quiet; Cornelia was shocked beyond belief, and she quietly prayed for Rose; she knew this discussion was a trigger topic for Cassius, and she hoped the little human survived.

Rose stared at her fingers, her mind was trying to process what she’d just heard. She wasn’t human? This had to be the biggest joke she’d heard all her life.

Then what was she? A beast in human form?

She slowly started to shake her head. "I’m human," She affirmed as if it’d change their minds.

"You are," Cassius leaned down and grabbed her jaw.

"You are human, and a slave. That’s the only thing you can be to me, a slave. Humans don’t deserve to have mates, do you understand?" He questioned darkly.

Rose smiled at him, "You can send me back, I’d rather be dead than be your mate," She replied stubbornly.

Cassius narrowed his eyes at her; his anger was rising above the surface; he always felt so insulted whenever Rose rejected him. She didn’t have the right to; humans were below them, she should feel honored that this was happening, yet she boldly stated that she would prefer death to be his mate.

He threw her face off his hand and turned to Felonious, "You must be wrong, Felonious, if you don’t want to lose your century-long position in the Blood Castle, I suggest you find a way to sever whatever bond ot that’s forming between me and that unworthy human, or else, you and she will be the one dying," He warned and started walking toward the door.

"I’m sorry, Master," Felonious spoke up, halting Cassius on his way.

He turned to have Felonious a questioning look.

"What do you mean?" Cassius asked.

"I mean, the only way to sever the bond is if you kill her, master. She was the one who woke you from your deep sleep, something a strong mage like myself couldn’t do, there must be a reason why she was able to locate your grave, and I believe it’s that reason that made you both bond," Felonious touched Rose’s head.

"I can feel it, Master. Something is changing within her, and unless you truly want her dead, then you can send her back. But if not, I suggest you keep her closest to you until her body fully adapts to this change; she needs to be close to you...always, or she faces chances of dying, master," Felonious bowed, moving away from Rose.

"It’s okay, he can stay far away from me, I’d rather die than-"

"Rose," Cornelia called, churning Rose from completing her words.

She could see the darkness overtaking Cassius’ returns, yet Rose thought it was the best time to prove stubborn.

"You went to fie so bed, human?" He questioned, his eyes darkening.

Rose didn’t reply; she kept her lips tightly closed as she looked down at her feet, ignoring him.

"Then I’ll make you live just like the dead," He whispered.

"Prepare her for the Night house," He ordered and walked out of the room.

"Oh, Rose, what have you gotten yourself into?" Cornelia sighed.

Felonious didn’t say a word, he stared at Rose for a long time as she remained emotionless.

He believed he didn’t know what the Night House was; if she did, she wouldn’t look calm.

"Rose," Cornelia went and put her hand under Rose’s cheek, making her look into her eyes.

"You don’t want to go to that place, Rose. It’ll..." She paused and looked away.

"It’ll break you, little human, I suggest you go fund the master and plead with him," He suggested.

Rose shook her eyes, a determined look in her eyes. "I’ll do no such thing, of rather go to this Night House than be mg a monster like him," She bit out.

Cornelia sighed. "Don’t say I didn’t warn you, Rose. Come on, it’s time to get you prepared for the Night House,"
