Mated To The Cruel Prince -
Chapter 465: A Bad Idea
Chapter 465: A Bad Idea
What on earth possessed Islinda to react like that? Well, imagine being in her position and having Aldric stare at you with such intense anger that it feels like he wants to strangle you. The dark Fae prince was terrifying, and Islinda did what any rational person would do in that situation - she ran. However, she didn’t anticipate that this would turn into a full-blown chase, and Aldric was relentless in his pursuit.
Islinda wanted to scream, but her lungs were desperate for air and she lacked the strength to produce any sound. She also had no idea where she was running to; she just kept running, the staff members clearing a path once they understood what was happening.
Exhausted and frustrated, Islinda glanced back and noticed that Aldric was no longer behind her. Had she finally lost him? Thank goodness, her prayers had been answered. She then looked ahead, only to be shocked by what she saw. Aldric was blocking her path.
Islinda gasped in surprise, quickly changing directions and taking another corridor. However, when she reached the end, Aldric was already there, waiting for her. Confused and panicked, she turned and headed down another path, only to encounter the same obstacle over and over again.
It suddenly dawned on her that Aldric was toying with her, deliberately cutting off all her escape routes. When he blocked her once more, Islinda came to a sudden halt, realizing the inescapable reality of her situation. She struggled to catch her breath, her stomach aching and her body drenched in sweat, strands of hair sticking to her face.
Both of them stared at each other in silence, as if waiting for one of them to make a move. Islinda desperately tried to regain her composure, but Aldric’s intense gaze felt like a heavy weight pressing down on her chest. There was no doubt that he had the upper hand, and his lips curved into a smirk.
His eyes, like deep pools of darkness, sparkled with sinister intentions. Islinda took a deep breath, sensing that he was planning to punish her for her actions. She couldn’t let that happen, but what could she possibly do?
Then she noticed a door by her side. What if she could lock herself inside? Aldric surely wouldn’t be foolish enough to break down a door in the palace, especially after just attending a court hearing. With a wicked smile, she looked at him one last time before he could react, and he seemed to sense her plan as his eyes widened. He rushed towards her, but she managed to close the door just in time, locking it behind her.
"By the gods!" Islinda exclaimed, leaning against the door with relief flooding through her. It had been a close call, and Aldric was truly a threat to her well-being.
Islinda was still catching her breath when she heard a loud bang, causing her to jump away from the door in fear. She stared in horror at the scene before her. Surely, Aldric couldn’t be planning to break down the door?
The room she found herself in was some sort of storage area, with limited hiding spaces. She stood frozen in place, watching the unfolding events with a sense of dread. Just as it seemed like Aldric would succeed in breaking the door off its hinges, the banging suddenly ceased.
Islinda didn’t immediately feel relieved, suspecting that this might be a ploy by Aldric to catch her off guard. However, as time passed and nothing happened, she finally allowed herself to relax. It appeared that, after all, Aldric respected the rules.
Or so she believed.
Islinda sat down on the bare floor to take a moment to rest, when she heard a strange noise. To her horror, she watched as Aldric’s shadow emerged from the narrow space between the door and the wall. She swallowed, feeling as if she were trapped in a nightmare. With terrified eyes, she watched as the shadow slowly climbed up, until it reached the lock and opened the door with a chilling creak.
Oh no. Islinda’s heart skipped a beat.
The air crackled with intense energy as Aldric, in all his predatory glory, stood before her. His eyes held a haunting depth that made every hair on Islinda’s body stand on end. He had a crazed look in his eyes, clearly delighted to have finally captured his elusive prey.
Islinda wasn’t even sure if she was breathing anymore as he approached her. She remained on the floor, looking up at him with a mix of dread and anticipation, as he loomed over her. She had no idea what he intended to do, but she was certain it wasn’t simply to help her up.
Now face to face, their bodies pressed together, as he invaded her personal space. His hands still rested on her waist, radiating warmth through the firm grip. However, Islinda suddenly realized that these were the same hands that had taken lives and reveled in it. These hands were now encircling her waist, binding her so she couldn’t escape. Hands that had the power to end her life if he so desired. Although, she was currently indestructible. At least without iron or ripping out her heart or decapitating her head and burning it.
But above all, Islinda couldn’t deny that she missed the owner of those hands. She missed the mad prince who brought chaos into her life and made it anything but dull. She missed her captor, the Fae with a split personality whom she had developed feelings for. She missed the Fae who could be the death of her. Her concern for his well being had terrified her and now she wanted to feel him. To fill up this empty void inside of her.
No longer thinking clearly, Islinda rose onto her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and boldly kissed him. She must have lost her mind to be kissing Aldric instead of Eli, but weren’t they the same person? Islinda desperately craved his touch, if only for a fleeting moment, before she would come to her senses and remind herself of how foolish this was - kissing Aldric.
