Chapter 726: Chapter 482 - Because He Is Her Master (Third Update)_1

He loved her dearly, more than he had ever loved before.

Jing Chen was witnessing Mu Lin’s incessant chatter for the first time, and from her words, he could clearly understand the depth of her emotions and love for Mu Jue.

It was a daughter’s love for her father, a disciple’s reverence for her master. It was a profound love that was so deeply hidden that it seemed non-existent.

Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that her love for Mu Jue was tinged with admiration and respect.

For the past seventeen years, the only person Mu Lin had been able to trust was Mu Jue. Everything else was more like a wild beast to her.

All these emotions intertwined, forming a significant net that completely enveloped Mu Lin.

Jing Chen was relieved to realize that he wasn’t excluded from this net. His Linlin hadn’t shut him out of her heart.

It filled him with genuine contentment.

"Linlin." As he gently took hold of Mu Lin’s shoulders, with ’Mu Jue’ right there, Jing Chen drew her into his embrace. "If you want to cry, let it out. Crying your heart out will make you feel better."

Mu Lin, as she appeared before him, was shouldering a great deal of suppressed pain. She was clearly heartbroken, her eyes filled with unshed tears, but she wouldn’t allow herself to cry freely.

Yet when she heard Jing Chen’s words, Mu Lin merely shook her head. "I won’t cry." She wiped the tear off the corner of her eye and straightened her back. "Until I avenge Master’s death, I won’t shed a tear. Just now, I was simply blinded by the sand."

This was a ploy that those unwilling to acknowledge their tears often resorted to.

Glancing around their surroundings, Jing Chen considered whether he should point out to the strong girl in his arms that it was impossible for sand to be in the depths of a forest.

Deciding not to expose her excuse, he chose to let it be. If it made her happy, he would go along with it.

As he lightly patted Mu Lin’s shoulder in comfort, Mu Lin could feel his intentions.

Upon seeing Jing Chen, Mu Lin managed a faint smile.

Qiaozi and Yinzi silently stood by, watching Mu Lin. This wasn’t the first time they’d seen her cry. On the day Mu Jue stopped breathing, Mu Lin had sat there holding his body, silent and shedding tears. The once vibrant eyes stared blankly into nothingness. That was where her true journey had begun.

They were genuinely worried, but all they could do was stand by her side and prevent anything from the Black Forest from approaching. Qiaozi had wanted to wrap its wings around Mu Lin, but it was afraid she would be startled.

There were feelings that they didn’t understand.

For the first time, Qiaozi and Yinzi didn’t resent the man kneeling beside Mu Lin, the man who would always compete with them for affection.

Despite their animal instincts, they could feel Mu Lin’s heartbreak, grief, and anger, but they couldn’t fully comprehend what these emotions meant.

They also didn’t understand... tears.

What they knew was that Mu Lin was different, and they didn’t like it. She seemed oblivious to them despite their constant presence.

Mu Lin sat holding the bloodied body of Mu Jue for a day and a night, then left the Array that had surrounded her. She completely wiped out those who had been hunting Mu Jue, feeding their corpses to the beasts of the Black Forest, their blood nourishing the plants and trees.

She didn’t take revenge. She truly didn’t, as Master had instructed her!

She had left covered in blood and returned the same way. It was unclear whether the blood that soaked her was Mu Jue’s or that of the assassins. At that time, Mu Lin took Mu Jue back to the cabin and cleaned him up, preserving his handsome and mature face. But now, the face was cold, and would never open its eyes to smile at her again.

She buried him near the cabin. She forced two people to make a coffin and a tombstone, upon which she engraved characters herself, despite hurting her hands several times in the process. It wasn’t for any reason other than it seemed earnest.

Because he was her master.

Although the two people initially feared Mu Lin, they completed Mu Jue’s burial site with sincerity after seeing her resilience. They departed the mountain after being paid a high reward and were escorted by Qiaozi.

Mu Lin held and knelt by him for days and nights, yet she returned to her initial state on the third day. It seemed just as if Mu Jue was still there, only away to practice medicine.

No trace of sadness could be found on Mu Lin’s face any longer.

Life went on.
