Chapter 727: Chapter 483: Jing Chen vs Mu Jue (Part 1)
Looking at the tombstone before him, Jing Chen never thought that their reunion would take place under such circumstances.
Four years had passed since their last encounter.
He remembered that their first meeting occurred when he was eight years old.
That was the only time he had been willful in his childhood. He insisted on trying to get home by himself, like the other ordinary kids in his class. But it only took that one time for him to encounter danger. Those people were kidnappers who specialized in selling children. It was because of that act of defiance that he had the chance meeting with him.
A handsome figure with quick movements, the eight-year-old Jing Chen stared blankly at the man who had just saved him. For the first time, he displayed a childlike expression. But it disappeared quickly. What followed was his curiosity.
Even when involved in a fight, he still retained his decent demeanor, intelligently exuding... a gentlemanly aura.
It was not until the police arrived and took away the human traffickers that Mu Jue walked up to Jing Chen. He awkwardly bent down slightly, looking at him and asked with a smile, "Kid, why are you alone in such a place? It’s very dangerous, don’t you know?"
While looking at the young Jing Chen, considering his appearance and attire, Mu Jue concluded that he must be the young master of a wealthy family. Observing his calm attitude in crisis, Mu Jue has a quite good impression of the young boy.
He was most impressed by the boy’s courage in the face of danger and how he didn’t show a bit of fear.
Just then, Jing Chen turned to him without answering his question and asked, "What kind of martial arts did you use just now?" It was a style he had never learned or seen before.
"Just now?" Mu Jue smiled and responded, "It can be considered some of our ancient techniques, I suppose." For some unknown reason, Mu Jue did not hide this fact.
Ancient techniques.
"Could you teach me?" This was the first time Jing Chen took the initiative to request instruction. He had never considered this before.
For some reason, he sensed that Mu Jue was remarkable, and not just because of his skills.
Upon hearing this, Mu Jue was momentarily taken aback. There was a hint of hesitation on his face.
Jing Chen stared nervously at Mu Jue. Because he wanted to learn. He felt instinctively that if he missed this chance, he would regret it.
Just like this, they stared at each other in silence.
However, just as one was caught in hesitation and the other in anxiety, a sudden cry brought the two back to reality.
"Don’t cry, don’t cry." In an instant, Mu Jue couldn’t think of anything else. He stood up and tried clumsily to soothe the little baby in his arms, but unfortunately, the baby wasn’t pacified at all.
Mu Jue thought to himself he truly feared when his darling cried. Despite his efforts to soothe her, sometimes she just loved to cry, regardless of his attempts.
"If I can stop her crying, will you teach me the martial arts you used just now?" Jing Chen’s somewhat juvenile voice clearly reached Mu Jue’s ears through the baby’s cries, making Mu Jue turn around to look at him.
Jing Chen fell silent, quietly waiting for his answer.
After a moment’s hesitation, he looked at the little baby in his arms and agreed, "Okay." In fact, if not for his hands being full at the moment, he would already be willing to teach him, because this boy in front of him had an extraordinary talent.
Upon seeing Mu Jue’s agreement, Jing Chen took a step forward and extended his hand towards him, indicating that he should hand the baby girl over to him.
It was only when the soft body of the baby was in his arms, that he felt an unusual sense of tenderness. He didn’t dare to use too much strength, afraid he might hurt the delicate baby. But he also couldn’t not use any strength at all, for fear she might fall.
For the first time, he felt nervous and somewhat helpless.
As he lowered his head and saw the baby girl, he couldn’t help but exclaim, "She’s so beautiful!" He had never seen such an exquisite doll before.
Oddly enough, immediately after Jing Chen’s words, the baby girl in his arms stopped crying and began to giggle at him. Reaching out with her small hands towards his face, sticking out her little tongue and emitting an adorable expression. It made Jing Chen unconsciously smile as well.
It seemed like she really liked him.
This was a sudden thought formed by Little Jing Chen.
Looking at the little girl, Mu Jue, for some reason, felt an urge to sigh.
The difference was too great! She always cried incessantly in his hands, but the moment she was in someone else’s arms, she’d instantly burst into laughter.
Could it be because he wasn’t handsome enough? Mu Jue felt that he looked pretty decent; however, the young boy in front of him, whether in demeanor or appearance, was indeed good.
Sigh... He slowly sighed, not wanting to think too much anymore. Mu Jue took out something from the bundle behind him and handed it to Little Jing Chen, "This is for you." Then, he took the little girl from Little Jing Chen’s arms.
The little girl instantly pursed her mouth and began crying again.
A bit helpless, Mu Jue could only hand the little girl back to Little Jing Chen, "Could you hold her for a while longer, I’ll take you home." He decided to be the nice guy to the end.
Little Jing Chen nodded; in fact, he did want to hold her a while longer, for some unknown reason.
By the time Mu Jue had taken Little Jing Chen to his own home, the little girl had also quietly fallen asleep. Just in time, and she wouldn’t cry when he took her back. Little Jing Chen’s arms were starting to feel stiff and tingling from carrying her.
Mu Jue handed the booklet in his hand to Little Jing Chen, "Take this back and study it. Try to remember it all in your head, and if there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask me about it. I’ll be staying in B City for the next month." He said that and then took out a pen to write down his phone number in the booklet. "Call me if you have any questions."
"Okay." Little Jing Chen nodded.
"Remember, don’t tell anyone about me. And don’t let anyone else see what’s in your hands, got it?" Mu Jue gave his final instructions.
He didn’t want to get involved with the present world, but Linlin seemed to like him a lot. Plus, he liked him too.
"Okay." Little Jing Chen assured him dutifully and seriously.
Watching the car slowly depart, he turned and walked towards his home.
Despite encountering dangerous situations, he considered it a good thing.
During the following month, Little Jing Chen visited Mu Jue several times, but he no longer saw the delicate little girl who had captured his attention.
In the beginning, he was curious, but as time slowly passed by, he gradually forgot about the matter. Or perhaps, it was just tucked away in a corner of his heart, unnoticed even by himself.
All this time, Jing Chen had never taken the initiative to contact Mu Jue. He found Mu Jue to be mysterious. As he grew older, he had gained the ability to investigate, but he never had the desire to do so.
Over the past twenty odd years, the number of times Jing Chen had met Mu Jue could be counted on one hand. It was probably only during the early period when they met more frequently. Once he didn’t need tutoring anymore, Jing Chen could sense that Mu Jue wouldn’t contact him as often anymore.
It was not until their last meeting four years ago that they lost contact. That old phone number never connected again.
He had always thought it was because of some circumstances, recalling that Mu Jue had once said that he no longer needed to be tutored.
Master.
In Jing Chen’s heart, Mu Jue was his only master! He had never imagined that the little girl he had held as a child was actually Mu Lin.
Mu Lin shared the same surname as him. All this time, he had never thought about it? His master had mentioned that the delicate doll-like child whom he didn’t know was his junior schoolmate. This junior schoolmate whom he only met once.
So, the connection between him and Linlin was predetermined since their childhood.
That porcelain doll-like child; that child who stopped crying as soon as he held her.
Complicated emotions filled Jing Chen’s eyes.
All this while, the revenge Linlin had been wanting to exact for their master... Isn’t it something he should be doing?
As a disciple, as a senior schoolmate, as... her husband.
