Master Of None
Chapter 2593 2593: 2593. Curiosity

After some hours, the pair began to approach the bridge to the elemental panes where there had been some illegal merchant activity. While the issues had been handled and the dangerous goods disposed of or handled in other ways, the area was still full of guards and some relevant people.

The small beginnings of an illegal merchant area had been used as the best potential town that could be built. Enough materials and enough guards had moved to the area, and guarding the bridge to the elemental planes and also any builders was an easy task.

"Brother, they already have some farms cultivating." Midnight spotted the rows of newly planted crops.

"That is a testing field for a type of rice that they wish to grow, it comes from the demi-human lands and was bred so that the leaves would break down and decay better after harvesting. That way more nutrients return to the soil faster and they can start the next generation of harvesting."

This was one of the major projects that a group of farmers had been working on within the demi-human lands for years before Genesis was even something to consider when it came to food production. However, with the addition of Genesis farmers and the united farmers having different cultivation ideas, they had found success.

Now there was a possibility that the food production of this and other grains would multiply by at least half more than what it was producing before. It was a significant boost since there would be a lot more grains to be made in to general foods or just to be cooked and consumed. It was also easier for storage since grains could be held properly as long as storage protocols were followed.

This wasn't the only thing that was being built within this town. There were walls of stone already being created so that the town would be stronger and more defended. This was what would separate it from a village. It would also become a good legal merchant area since it connected a few of the older trade routes.

This was the goal of the merchant guild. Removing the negative stigmatizing of an illegal market and enforcing the legal side would allow for younger merchants to take root here. From there they could focus on the future trade related to the bridge to the elemental planes. It was very forward thinking and would be a great amount of progress.

The most shocking thing for Walker was that there were already rune carvers, herbalists, and mages working on a small magic tower. The process to make them has been advanced significantly. The herbs would still attract mana but the need for a naturally occurring elemental rune was not there any more. The rune formations they had studied within and on the main magic tower within Genesis had been altered and advanced enough that they could be replicated on a small scale.

This meant that there were going to be different types of small magic towers. This one would be more runic allowing for a focus on teleportation and mana channeling to fuel other rune formations within the town as a whole. An idea that Walker was very glad to know was happening and progressing in a successful form.

As he and Midnight landed though, he felt a chill. It was a little stronger than the normal water mana meaning that the bridge to the elemental planes was most likely connected to a deeper form of pure water elemental mana. The ice wasn't caused by a mixing of manas, the water mana was so dense that it just became ice entirely.

Just the idea that there were two forms of ice mana was something that could throw anyone for a loop, but that was something that could be handled in educational settings. Right this second, Walker and Midnight were forced to focus on the guards standing directly in front of the bridge to the elemental planes.

They were facing a frosty fog and clearly something was moving around the edges of the fog. Walker and Midnight could also see a few of the guards sending communication crystal notices to others, proving that this must have begun a short time ago.

A few of the guard captains were shocked to see Midnight and Walker landing in front of them. Clearly, they had expectations that they would be waiting in this situation for hours and not however long it had been.

"Heroes! You are here already. We have been sending updates for the past hour and did not expect assistance." A guard captain rushed over with sweat on his face. This event had been weighing on him significantly.

"Let the main contact know that Walker and Midnight are handling whatever the problem is while also installing a mapping orb." Walker didn't hesitate to assure the guard captain and surrounding guards with a firm tone and clear plan.

There didn't appear to be any danger, from what Walker could sense the wall of dense water mana was in fog form because the other manas in the area were making the ice that formed melt. While an interesting interaction, the blue tentacles that moved showing themselves for a brief second over and over appeared to be harmed or afraid of the other manas that were not just very dense.

The exploratory actions were something more akin to a monster, yet, Walker didn't feel that was right. "Midnight can you use some water mana to roar a bit, nothing with animosity just a small warning to push some of that fog away and expose more of the open bridge."

Walker had promised he would not do it all alone so this was his goal to work together. He also would be able to focus more on what this being was trying to explore the bridge to the elemental plane.

All the guards formed a defensive line behind Walker and Midnight right before her roar caused a ripple of water mana to echo out. The dragon's roar incorporated with specific manas was less of an attack and more of a focus on communication. It would make the spirit race or the merfolk traction than some other races less acclimated to water mana as a whole.

The various blue tentacles exposed were all connected to a single eye made of what seemed to be a crystal like ice.

'Glacial gazer

This is a race of pure and dense water beings. It uses water mana in dense form to communicate and is known as one of the most curious races. It is said to store memories within its eight tentacles while watching various aspects of the water elemental planes develop.

While they are extremely few in number due to their solitary existences, that's what allows them higher mastery over their innate water affinity and water mana manipulation to the point that they notify and condense water mana just by existing within an environment. The cost of this is that they lose almost all resistance to other manas.

Their curiosity has, in many instances, led them to perish in hostile environments. This does not diminish their strength however. Many instances have seen them combat various forms of dragons at once.

While they have a long history…'

A larger pulse of water mana moved directly toward Walker. He didn't feel any cruelty in it but felt pressure. This glacial gazer was trying to communicate with him. He could sense its unhappiness at being appraised like that and Walker understood it must have a skill that allowed it to know it had been appraised.

Using some water mana Walker did what he would do when he originally had spoken with water elemental spirits. The translation of the world and existence helped too, causing him to immediately understand what and just been said to him and even his response.

"How could you peer in to my being without permission? You are not something I know!" The glacial gazer was rightfully unhappy but it wasn't acting in violence.

"I have never met a race such as yours before. I needed to ensure you were not a monster attempting to venture in to the world and cause harm. It was simply for the protection of the world. I did learn from it though, my curiosity had been somewhat satiated."

His words made every blue tentacle freeze and the crystalline eye focus entirely on him. "The world, not another elemental plane?"

More water mana questions began to be bombarded Walker but he was quick to raise a hand and ask for silence. He didn't want to rush and cause problems. He also didn't miss the small humanoid shape of water which had to be the true water sage watching how this would go.

"Before I answer anything else, please let me warn you for your safety."
