Master Of None
Chapter 2592 2592: 2592. Staying Close

The randomness of a wanderer being sat right at the entrance to the bridge of the elemental planes experiencing dark mana connection from the dark elemental plane was an interesting way to start the quest off. Even more so that the true dark sage had literally pulled the shadow mana wanderer back in to the planes themselves.

Walker knew that there were monsters called shadow people or shadow men, however, compared to the race he had just met, it was clear that they were exceptionally different. That there had to be a change in name for the monsters that were known. Something that would most likely begin to appear as time went on.

The idea that any monsters might have developed differently and even become intelligent races within the elemental planes was nothing new. It was something that had already been proven as true.

Orcs were a monster larger and more violent than others. Yet, they had already been proven to have more intelligence in some ways than others. Knowing he could compare the knowledge he had for some time, Walker took a moment to breathe and calm his mind. For the moment, he could keep himself focused on the other bridges and mapping orbs that needed to be placed.

With the true dark sage having even more focus on the bridge connected to his elemental plane, there was a lot less to worry about. It did strike Walker as odd that there were some who had the skills or tools to sneak past the true sages for even a little while.

Knowing that this was a possibility did not put him at ease. There was also the fact that the shadow man wanderer had an item that was able to hide himself from appraisal skills. Meaning that there was a huge chance that items and skills to fake appraisals or even worse was possible.

Knowing these things, Walker would have to create a group of craftsmen to focus on it.

While being the one to encourage making items or finding skills that could hide, fake, and entirely halt appraisal skills was nothing at like what a hero should be doing, it was inevitable. Walker and the others needed to have the information about how these skills and items worked before there were too many instances of worse events happening.

Putting this thought to rest for later when he could speak to the entire Genesis Council about it, Walker focused on the fact that Midnight and he had actually managed to get some random good trades.

He looked at a black leafed plant with a small dark black flower. It had small round parts on the flower that he knew were seeds. Meaning that he had just purchased a rare herb that needed dark mana to grow, but he had the seeds attached to it so that the alchemy guild could take it and begin working with it immediately. Walker didn't even want to write down the name of it from his all around appraisal. He wanted to see if Remey's alchemists and herbalists could figure it all out without a single question.

The wood he bought is an entirely obsidian colored wood with longer grain and toughness. It even radiated some of the decaying effects of dark mana. An interesting crafting material that might be used for dark mages staff or for usage in making unique magic tools for farmers. It would be determined later if there was any other wood or plants that were similar and already known to Genesis.

"Brother, the next bridge." Midnight and Walker had already been moving through the sky toward the next bridge. The location was nothing important since Walker had been there before, but the difference in the manas flowing out was that the opposite side of the bridge had to be within a boundary between two elemental planes.

Midnight had noticed it and Walker had sensed it but not addressed it yet. "Wind and fire mana are mixed, so we should see some stronger flames since wind mana can increase the strength of fire mana." With a glance, Walker buffed Midnight who had been sticking closer and closer to Walker while they flew, even with his buffs, she would have been fine against the stronger fire mana regardless.

As they landed, there was a little damage to the ground, the smaller sprouts and plants had been burned by the wind field fire mana. That was fine, this location was another that the guards and watchmen were marching to right now. Walker had come here and discovered this bridge unoccupied and without monsters around since the monsters that lived in the area were easily spooked by changes in environment. So, he had left earth walls here to protect it to a degree and let it stay as it was.

The walls had been good since it directed the wind and fire manas upwards and slowed any burning of the area which would just become natural as the manas changed coming through the bridge. This was just part of the elemental planes and the world coming together.

Regardless, Midnight stood close to Walker and watched as the mana flowed and as elemental spirits moved in and out of the bridge. She was even closer as Walker placed the mapping orb and manipulated the earth to make a protective holding pillar for it.

"There is a small magic tower being built nearby, this will let them map the area and connect them sooner than later. Do you want to go check it out while I make sure the orb-" Midnight elbowed Walker in the side making him stop talking. He thought something was wrong until he realized her eyes were focused on him.

He sighed slightly and understood what he was doing wrong. "I won't do it all alone. We can do it all together." Knowing Midnight, Walker understood she was ready to yell at him for taking in everything by himself. He had been doing this more and more lately. Even when he was with Alma in the forest elf territory, he had moved ahead and let her handle the talking while he dealt with the problem directly.

Yes, now he was better suited to do a lot of it but that wasn't the point. He had to rely on others to help too. "The magic tower should have several builders and guards, so I can have them come this way." Walker saw Midnight was up a little.

What he didn't realize, was that Midnight was also using their bond to experience the world as Walker was in a closer way. His focus on his mana senses had only grown since it was an innate function of him and an origin race member.

Therefore, with Midnight tapping in to those feelings, she was also growing her own perceptions of mana. Dragon breath was already feeling easier to utilize for her, but the buff skills that Walker used in her were incorporating better in to the way she moved.

Just the wind buff skill that helped the pair of them fly through the air better and faster was something she had been maintaining even standing around and making sure Walker was not alone.

When Walker felt that the skill should have ended since he wasn't supplying mana, he was about to tell Midnight she was training too much. Then again, he realized that he couldn't act as she had been then judge her for focusing on becoming a stronger and more powerful defender for the world.

She worked just as hard as he did. They just did so in different times and places lately. Right now though, she hadn't even flinched at the shadow man wanderer or the visit of the true dark sage when he pulled away the wanderer back in to the dark elemental planes. Instead, she had been ready to handle any problems outright.

Seeing that she could take control of the buff skill and maintain it without his mana just proved she utilized the bind they shared. Their mana cooperated well and that was that. Plain and simple, their bond would not fade as either gained strength, it would just become even more of a core aspect to their strength.

"I wonder if Onyx will want to help me check in on any wanderers trying to venture in to the world. I hear he is working a little more on the spatial and dark mana skills to have the serpents hide in his shadow too." This caught Midnight's attention.

Before Walker and she could get halfway to the small magic tower to work with their building there, Walker was already listening to what Midnight had seen Onyx working on. She didn't always like to speak but lately she had bursts of conversation. It might just be her age as a dragon, but it was nice to hear her excitedly praising Onyx.
