Master of Kaidan -
Chapter 292 Masked Rider
Chapter 292: Chapter 292 Masked Rider
"Yayuka, look quickly, isn’t this keychain adorable?!"
Hearing Rinko’s call, Yayuka shifted her gaze from the passing half-bird, half-snake Kaidan and looked at the keychain Rinko held. In terms of cuteness, it was certainly quite cute.
But...
"No!"
Hearing Yayuka’s extremely cold rejection, Rinko was slightly taken aback and said,
"Eh? Why? This one-eyed little monk is super cute, isn’t it?"
"One-eyed monk things are disgusting!" Yayuka looked at the adorable little monk, but involuntarily recalled the creature her stand had smashed into ashes with a single punch, its head full of bulging veins and wrinkles, with eyes so large and repulsive. Its tongue was a full two feet long and kept licking its eyes, dripping drops of turbid mucus, making her utterly resist it both physically and psychologically.
"Gross? Really?" Rinko shook her head, not quite understanding, while still putting the one-eyed monk keychain back on the stand. She then picked up another design—
"How about this Zashiki-warashi?"
"No either!" Yayuka shook her head again, recalling that strange dream,
"I don’t want anything related to demons or Kaidan! Absolutely not!"
"That could be a problem. In the Eastern Country, things without Kaidan elements are rare! You don’t plan on buying a full suit, do you?"
Rinko sighed, and upon hearing this, Yayuka also felt somewhat troubled.
In the past, she didn’t see any issue with it and considered it as a trend. After all, even before her birth, the country’s culture had been full of Kaidan and demon folklore elements.
In fact, for a long time, she was enthusiastic about these mysterious things. After all, weren’t mysterious creatures that everyone knew existed but seldom seen quite cool?
But now, she didn’t feel that way at all. In fact, just thinking a little deeper about it made her feel terrified.
This was a country ruled by non-humans, where humans were just livestock raised by Kaidan. When they were pleased, they’d grab one or two from the pens to eat, and then continue watching the rest survive under their arranged rules.
Just thinking about it gave Yayuka a sense of suffocation.
"Don’t overthink it, that’s not something you should be worrying about." The inorganic voice of her stand echoed in her mind. Yayuka said nothing, walking to a roadside milk tea shop and ordering two cups of silk stocking milk tea.
Just as she was about to return to Rinko with the milk tea, she saw a slightly haggard middle-aged man approaching.
He seemed about thirty or forty years old, with notable dark circles under his eyes, wearing a somewhat worn-out suit, and an unkempt beard that hadn’t been cared for in days.
Though he looked no different from any ordinary disheveled man, Yayuka instinctively sensed a special temperament, not the previous crisis sense from seeing a Kaidan, but a rather ridiculous...
"Is this man worth a fight?"
"Why am I having such strange thoughts?" Yayuka snickered. Although she liked hardcore comics like Jojo and enjoyed watching fighting matches, it didn’t mean she was obsessed with fighting!
"Is it because I awakened my stand? Is my fighting spirit activated?" Yayuka suddenly thought of a lady unable to control her stand due to lacking a fighting spirit and another weak woman who summoned her stand only after gaining such spirit, concluding this might be the answer.
So she didn’t ponder more, turning around to walk over to Rinko.
"Yayuka, how about these two?"
Turning back, Rinko immediately held up two stuffed animal pendants as Yayuka returned. Compared to the Kaidan, these cartoon characters made Yayuka sigh with relief. She took the rabbit pendant which she found more appealing and said,
"This one. By the way, I bought you milk tea!"
"Ah, I just happened to be a bit thirsty!" Rinko excitedly grabbed the milk tea, taking a big sip before pulling out money to pay the stall owner.
The two of them chatted while strolling along the street, and before long, lunchtime approached.
"What should we eat for lunch?" Rinko looked around, finding many fast-food places but still needed to consider which to choose.
Yayuka glanced at those shops, each one having Kaidan lurking around, really wanting to say not to eat here.
But at that moment, her pupils suddenly shrank.
At the end of her line of sight, on a rather wide street, the haggard man from before was standing there, staring blankly.
However, the focus wasn’t on the man but on the eerie man standing about seven or eight meters in front of him, wearing an oversized trench coat and a beret, looking like a flasher.
"Eh, Yayuka, what are you looking at?" Rinko frowned slightly, following Yayuka’s line of sight to see a dazed man, her expression became subtly:
"Who’s the man who seems like he lost his job? Someone you know?"
"No..." Yayuka shook her head, watching the Kaidan gradually leave her position and start converging towards that man. She wisely remained silent.
But just then, that man suddenly pulled out a plastic box from his bag!
"Transform!"
"Kaidan Control!"
A strange sound effect suddenly exploded in the street before Yayuka could grasp the situation, and Rinko let out an exaggerated scream—
"Masked... Masked Rider?!"
As her voice fell, countless bystanders’ eyes immediately turned, witnessing the haggard man insert a crystal card emanating an ominous aura into the plastic box that had turned into a belt. With the devices on both sides of the box squeezing, lots of peculiar substances spread from the box, enveloping him completely.
"Masked Rider! It’s a Masked Rider! Yayuka, that’s a Masked Rider! It’s my first time seeing a real Masked Rider!"
Rinko’s eyes almost lit up looking at the Masked Rider transforming on the street, but Yayuka wasn’t as relaxed as Rinko. Because in her eyes, she could clearly see the Masked Rider was confronting the Kaidan.
However, this situation soon changed as the fluctuations caused by the Masked Rider’s transformation seemed to disorder the surrounding environment.
Then, screams abruptly erupted from the onlookers’ mouths—
"Kaidan!"
"It’s a Kaidan?!"
"Run!"
"Masked Rider, save me!"
"What exactly is happening?" Yayuka mumbled. Upon hearing this, Feng Xue, who had been observing the Masked Rider, was slightly startled, then pondered,
"Perhaps because the process of the Masked Rider ’penetrating the world’s reverse with a human identity (the protagonist doesn’t know the word 常世, so describes it as the world’s reverse)’ was observed, causing these people to also see the Kaidan of the world’s reverse, right?"
