Chapter 526: False Immortality

Chapter 526: False Immortality

Running through the dark forest, Kiernan and Zeus heard the sound of the rumbling overhead.

The floor above creaked loudly and trembled as if it was about to collapse on top of their heads.

“It looks like that stranger is fighting someone. That floor will soon collapse on top of us!”

Zeus said with an ugly look on his face.

“Argh!”

Kiernan picked up his pace, dashed through the forest, and came across the exit of the stadium, tucked between two small mountains.

However, before they could reach it, they met with some kind of purple wall that was slightly transparent but solid to the touch.

“What the hell is this?”

Kiernan asked and tried punching through it, but it felt like he was trying to punch through the surface of the moon.

“Aura Fusion, the Fist of the Lightning!”

Zeus punched the wall with the lightning-coated fist, sending a bolt of electricity crackling through the air, but the attack itself did nothing.

“It’s tough! We can’t possibly punch through this. This wall must’ve been created to keep beings way above our pay grade trapped!”

Zeus said.

“…It must be there to keep the stranger inside this place so it wouldn’t hurt anyone else.”

Kiernan said with a frown, and looked above, through the hole, where flashes of green, gold, and black could be seen swirling in the sky.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Xerxus pulled the trigger and sent three golden bullets hurling towards the dark-haired man.

The bullets stabbed through the Death Merchant’s shoulder and embedded themselves in the wall behind him.

“Hmph!”

Yet, the Death Merchant covered the three bleeding wounds on his shoulder with his hand and made them disappear.

“Damage Transfer!”

He pointed his cold, pale-looking finger at Xerxus and snapped his fingers.

“?!”

Xerxus rolled out of the way, and then, in the wall behind him, three bullet holes appeared out of nowhere.

‘It looks like he can transfer all the damage that his body suffers to give someone else. No wonder that he didn’t even try to dodge my bullets, as he can just give those wounds to someone else!’

He lifted his revolver-wielding hand, pointed at the Death Merchant, and pulled the trigger.

Bang!

With a smoking explosion, the bullet flew out of the barrel of the revolver and embedded itself in the chest of the Death Merchant.

“Urgh!”

Death Merchant coughed blood, pointed his finger towards Imperius, and snapped his fingers.

With a wave of his hand, a fleshless skeleton appeared in front of Imperius and blocked the bullet.

Pankratios flew over the Death Merchant and hurled his staff at him—he dodged the staff—but then Pankratios touched his hands together, and a circle of staffs appeared all around the dark-haired individual.

“Prison of Tartarus!”

The staffs started burning with flames and encircled the Death Merchant with flaming chains that trapped him within the fiery prison.

Death Merchant hugged himself, lowered his stance, and with a sky-shaking cry, he released a deafening explosion of power that shattered the chains and obliterated the prison walls.

The arena exploded with the black mushroom cloud.

At that moment, Imperius jumped through the explosion, his coat ablaze with flames, and unleashed a fury of strikes.

Each punch was strong enough to shatter concrete and make the air explode with the force of his power.

Death Merchant recoiled under the punches—he didn’t bother to dodge—and his body kept breaking and reforming with each hit.

‘Battles between False Immortals can last years. While False Immortal is part of the Immortal Stage, they’re not real immortals.

‘While they cannot die out of natural causes, they can be killed, but they’re tough as hell to kill.’

Imperius thought to himself.

Xerxus pointed his revolver at the head of the Death Merchant and pulled the trigger three times.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The three bullets drilled through the head of the Death Merchant; his eyes turned blank for a moment as if he died, but then he started blinking again.

With a snap of the finger, all the wounds got transferred into the ground under him.

“We cannot kill him. We can keep fighting him for years to come, but nothing will change, and we’ll just keep exhausting ourselves until we’re too tired to fight and will die instead.”

Pankratios said.

“We must send him back to the Hell. We need the book of the dark ceremony to do so.”

Imperius said.

“One of us must go find the book, and do the ceremony where it was done originally to send him back where he came from.”

Xerxus said.

“I’ll handle it!”

Imperius said, and jumped towards the purple dome wall.

With a wave of his staff, Pankratios made the wall disappear, and Imperius flew through it.

Quickly, Death Merchant also tried to escape the closed space, but Pankratios immediately made the closed space reappear.

Death Merchant slammed into the wall and fell back to the ground.

The purple wall disappeared.

“It’s gone!”

“Quickly!”

Kiernan and Zeus ran towards the exit, and only a second later, the purple wall appeared behind them.

However, they had escaped the trapped space!

“Whew… Let’s go!”

They ran through the exit, took stairs, and arrived back at the surface, where the citizens of the city were flooding the streets.

It was a chaotic scene.

“Where the fuck should we go?”

Zeus asked.

“My residence. Quickly!”

Kiernan tried pushing through the masses, but almost everyone around him was a higher-ranked martial artist than him, so it was impossible to do so!

However, they slowly started making their way away from the stadium.

In the great vault of the God City.

“Halt right there!”

The guards shouted as Sacrael and his fellow Bulwarkians stepped down the stairs and approached the vault.

“Come on, we don’t need to fight. Why don’t you two take a walk?”

Sacrael asked with a smile.

The two guards looked at each other, nodded, and attacked the Bulwarkians.

After a quick and pretty one-sided fight, the two guards dropped dead on the ground and bled crimson blood onto the ground.

“Hehe~”

Sacrael walked to the vault door and tried punching through it, but it didn’t even make a dent.

“A vault made out of Korkosh Steel… It won’t be easy to break through this, but luckily, we don’t have to!”

Sacrael said with a smile.
