Chapter 53: The Wedding

"Are you out of your mind! What sort of request is that?" Aria shouted, angry that Damien thought he could just say something to her and she would go along with it.

Damien was surprised at Aria’s outburst. Before, his Aria would always say yes to him and would never have spoken to him this way. What has happened to her? He needed to stand his ground at this; his hunger for power was not as important as the woman in front of him.

"I won’t go back on my words." Damien said firmly and was about to leave when he heard her voice.

"Tristan is the only one who can find a cure for my grandmother, and you want me to leave him?"

Damien turned to her and asked, "Is that why you are with him?"

Aria frowned. Why does he sound relieved? "It’s why I married him."

Damien let out a short laugh and said, "I knew there must have been a reason you were married to him."

"Is this why you came back? To ruin my life?"

"How...how can you say that? You think I’m here to ruin your life?"

"Marry Hailey, just as you have planned to, and I will help you set up a meeting with Tristan. It is what you actually want, right?"

Damien didn’t say anything and walked towards her; he raised his hand to touch her cheek, but she moved her face away, taking a step back.

"Let’s talk after the wedding." Damien said, and when she didn’t say anything, he left her alone.

Aria felt numb after he left. To be honest, she has always thought of how excited she would be when she met Damien again; she always wondered if her heart would flutter at the sight of him and if the affection she once felt for him would resurface, but today, she got an answer to all her questions.

Seeing him again made her feel nothing. Aria was just glad that he was healthy and doing well.

The first time, he had called her, she was relieved to hear his voice, but after that, she started ignoring his calls because she was still angry at him for ignoring her for two years, but now she knew there was no longer a need for that.

The fact that his mate had died made her feel sad for him, but she also felt like the Damien she had spoken to wasn’t the Damien she knew from before. This Damien seems cold, no longer has a smile on his face, and if everything Hailey told her was true, then he is also very hungry for power.

’I will never again be known as a weak man.’ His words resonated in her mind, and she wondered if it was the death of his mate that had changed him so much.

Aria wondered if perhaps there was something she could do to bring the old Damien back.

The wedding of Alpha Damien and Hailey took place at the Shadow Moon Pack garden.

Aria smiled as Hailey entered with her sleeveless wedding dress, and she also noticed the empty look in Damien’s eyes as Jacob handed his daughter to him.

It was the first time Aria was seeing a werewolf’s wedding, and even though this wasn’t a marriage of love, she still felt a little bit excited watching them.

An Elder of the Crestfrost Pack stood in front of the couple and said, "Bring forth your right hand."

Both Damien and Hailey stretch forth their right hands, and it was tied together with a flowery rope. The elder placed his hand on their tied hands before loosening his rope.

And then Jacob brought a golden cup to the Elder; the Elder lifted it up to the sky and cut his palm, pouring the blood on the cup.

He placed his thumb inside the cup and then put it on Hailey’s forehead and performed the same thing to Damien before handing the golden cup to him.

Damien looked at Aria intensely as he held the cup, capturing both Hailey’s and Sasha’s attention.

Hailey frowned as she wondered why Damien was looking at Aria like that.

Damien took the knife that the Elder had used and cut his own palm, allowing his blood to pour on the cup. He then dipped his thumb into the blood and placed it on Hailey’s lips as he said, "I take thee to be my wife and Luna." He then passed the cup to Hailey.

Hailey did the same thing he did and used her thumb that had blood on it to touch his lips as she said, "I take thee to be my husband and Alpha."

Aria leaned towards Sasha and whispered, "Is this how every werewolf gets married?"

Sasha turned to her and saw pure curiosity in her eyes; she sighed and said, "Just an Alpha wedding."

"Oh." Aria nodded in understanding.

The guest clapped after their wedding had been blessed by the elder.

Sasha scoffed and said, "You two are really lucky, both getting married to an Alpha."

Aria smiled at her and said, "Maybe we were destined to be Luna’s."

Sasha rolled her eyes and watched the newlywed couple. This was the first time meeting the Alpha of the Crestfrost Pack; she wondered why a man like him would get married to a girl from the Shadow Pack right after Milton’s death. Their marriage definitely didn’t look like a love marriage, so why did they get married? What benefit can this marriage give to them?

While Sasha was busy with her thoughts, Aria rushed to hug Hailey and told her congratulations.

Hailey smiled back at her and said, "Thank you, Aria. I wouldn’t have gotten married if not for you."

"I told you this wedding will happen, and it’s the least I can do for you." Aria said. She was glad that Damien decided to go through with this wedding, and perhaps Hailey is exactly the type of woman Damien needs at the moment because not only was she kind, she was also very selfless.
