Married To The Blind Alpha
Chapter 54: Her Past And Present

Chapter 54: Her Past And Present

Aria arrived home exhausted. The wedding reception has taken much longer than she had expected, and even though she wanted to leave, she couldn’t leave Hailey alone because as soon as the wedding was concluded, Damien left the Shadow Moon pack, and no one could even question him.

Aria closed the door and turned on the light, letting out a startled shout when she saw Tristan sitting at the dining table, eating a plate of noodles.

"What are you doing here?" Aria asked, startled.

"Isn’t this my house?" Tristan asked casually, not even glancing at her.

Aria frowns at his tone. Was he in a bad mood? "Why are you eating in the dark?"

Tristan took a sip of water, stood up, and walked over to her. "I told you," he said calmly, "I’m used to the dark."

"And I have also told you that there is no reason for you to get used to the dark."

Amused by her statement, Tristan asked, "Are you going to be my light?"

"Yes," Aria replied firmly.

Tristan chuckled and pulled her into his arms.

Aria wrapped her hand round his waist and asked, "You really scared me."

"I’m sorry." Tristan said with a smile. He had gotten home half an hour before he came, and feeling hungry, the only thing he could cook was noodles and manage all that without switching on the light.

Aria pulled away from him and asked, "You are in a bad mood, aren’t you?"

"I’m..." Tristan wanted to deny it, but seeing her staring innocently at him, he wondered if he were to ask, would she tell him the truth?

Noticing a frown on his face, Aria tiptoed to kiss his lips. "You look better with a smile."

Tristan laughed. "I look better with you." He whispered and claimed her lips.

Aria wrapped her hands around his neck as she got lost in his kisses. Yeah, coming back to meet Tristan was definitely the best part of her day.

Tristan slowly pulled away and smiled at her.

Even though he was smiling, Aria could feel that there was something bothering him.

"Is everything ok?" Aria asked, and then a terrifying thought entered her mind. "Did something happen to my grandmother?"

"No, your grandmother is fine." Tristan said but felt a little guilty, not telling her about her grandmother’s real condition.

"Then what is it? And don’t say nothing, because it’s obvious something is bothering you. Is this about the Ferals?"

"Damien, who is he to you?"

Aria widened her eyes in surprise. "How did...?" And then she remembered the time Tristan had saved her from Kia’s magic prison; she remembered asking him not to leave her the way her grandmother, Hailey, and Damien had.

"I’m guessing you already remember how I knew about a Damien. Cole told me that your friend was getting to the Alpha of the Crestfrost Pack, whose name is also Damien. I’m wondering if the Damien you had mentioned and Hailey’s husband are the same person."

Aria had even forgotten that she had mentioned Damien’s name that day; she was expecting him to still remember. However, at the rate in which things are going, he was going to find out one day. She hasn’t even told Hailey that her husband is the same friend she mentioned to have not spoken to for two years.

"They are the same person, and I only got to find out today. When I saw the names on the wedding invitation, I convinced myself that it wasn’t him; after all, there are a lot of people bearing Damien’s name in the world, but when I saw him today..."

"Old feelings resurfaced." Tristan said, thinking that was what she was going to say.

Aria looked at him and repeated, "When I saw him today, I was glad to see him alive and safe."

"Who was he to you?"

"Damien was my childhood friend. He lived with his grandmother, just like I did, and he was my only friend, but when his grandmother died, he left, but we still communicated. When I had a bad day or a good one, he would be the first person I would tell, even though he was not around until..."

"Until?"

"Until I clocked eighteen. He came back and told me he had found his mate. At that time, I was heartbroken because I had a crush on him, but after that day, I never saw him again. I called and texted, but nothing. He just went silent for two years."

"But then you saw him today?"

Aria wondered if she should tell Tristan that she had actually received calls from him before seeing him. No, what if he gets angry? Plus, Damien was her past, and he is her present.

Aria nodded and decided to keep out the fact that they had once spoken on the phone. "I was surprised when I saw that it was him getting married to my friend Hailey and was also saddened when he told me about what he has been through during the two years we hadn’t spoken."

Tristan scoffed. "Of course, he did. Let me guess, he made up some sad story so that he can win your sympathy."

"What? Damien isn’t like that. His mate died in his arms, and now he has turned into a bitter, cold man."

"Does he know you are my wife?" Tristan asked.

Aria bit her lips for a moment and then nodded. "He knows."

"Good, and he should never forget about it."

Aria was surprised at how possessive Tristan sounded, and she wondered why her heart was racing. Was he jealous? Does this mean he has feelings for her?

Tristan wanted something else, but he refrained and instead asked, "Are you hungry?"

Aria smiled and said, "I just came back from a wedding."

Tristan frowned and said, "I never knew the Shadow Moon pack was capable of serving good food."

Aria just laughed and was surprised when Tristan held her hand and led her to the couch.

Aria quickly removed her shoes and changed into her slippers before following him.

She looked at Tristan confusingly as he sat her down and then brought her legs to his lap.

"Why do you have to wear heels if it hurts your leg?" Tristan asked gently as he began to massage her legs.

His gesture brought a certain kind of warmth into her heart. She smiled and said, "I think it only hurts my legs because I’m not used to them."

"Then you don’t need to wear them. You have so many different shoes to wear; why pick this one?"

"Didn’t you say I look beautiful?"

"You would look even more beautiful if you didn’t wear things that give you pain."

Aria laughed, and after looking at his serious expression while massaging her legs, she said, "You don’t have to be jealous of Damien."

"Who said I was jealous?" Tristan asked.

"You aren’t?" Aria asked, feeling a little disappointed. Since he wasn’t jealous then, that must mean she was wrong. Tristan did not have any feelings for her.

"I am."

"What?"

Tristan stopped the massage he was giving to her legs to look at her and said, "The fact you use two years missing another man makes me so jealous. I hate it, and if I had known earlier, I would have ensured that the both of you would never meet again.

"Tris...."

"But I know I can’t keep you all to myself. You are like a shining light that cannot be hidden even if I try to. Do you still have feelings for him?"

"No. Not even a tiny bit." Aria said with a smile.

"I believe you." Tristan said. Hearing about Damien made him realize that his Aitana would be all alone when he was gone, and he didn’t want that. He wants her to remember him forever, but at the same time, he wants her to always be happy. To one day start a family of her own and to one day find love again. If only these good wishes he has for her weren’t killing him inside.

He jolted out of his thought when he felt Aria’s soft lips on his cheek and heard her say, "You are my only crush."

Tristan looked at her in disbelief for a moment before laughing softly and teasing, "So you have a crush on me?"

"A big one."

"How big is it?" Tristan asked with a smile.

Aria spread her arms with a soft laugh as she replied, "Very big."

Tristan laughed and began tickling her.

Aria laughed, pleading for him to stop, but he refused her plea and kept tickling her until the both of them lay on the couch, with him on top of her.

Tristan finally stopped and, seductively brushing her lips against her, said in a whisper, "You were supposed to wait for me without any clothes on."

Aria slowly blushed as she remembered the message they had exchanged and replied, "You came home before me."

"Not an excuse, baby. You should have been here before me."

Calling her baby so seductively made Aria almost jump on him. She is beginning to love everything about this man. From the way he talks, walks, looks, smells, and calls her crazy, but even the way he moans her name makes her heart race. She has never wanted a man, the way she wants him. Does this mean she is falling in love with Tristan Grant?
