Married To The Blind Alpha -
Chapter 50: Hailey’s Real Thought.
Chapter 50: Hailey’s Real Thought.
Shadow Moon Pack
"Miss Hailey, your friend Aria is here to see you." An Omega who worked as a maid in the pack said with her head bent down.
"Did she come alone?" Hailey asked.
The Omega shook her head, remembering the other girl that was with Aria, and said, "She did not come alone."
Hailey sighed in relief and said, "Send her in and ensure you entertain our guest. He is the most important guest in today’s wedding."
He? But it was a woman who had come along with Aria. The Omega was about to correct Hailey when she heard her voice.
"What are you waiting for? Go!" Hailey said, sounding irritated.
The Omega nodded and left.
In less than two minutes, Aria gently knocked on the door and entered.
Hailey smiled when she saw Aria, but the moment her eyes traced what she was wearing, her smile faltered.
Aria noticed this and asked, "Is something wrong?"
Hailey chuckled and said, "No, it’s just that I’m not used to seeing you in such expensive clothes."
Aria didn’t take offense to her words; instead, she smiled, "I know. I’m not used to seeing me in such clothes, but Tristan forced me to change my wardrobe. He invited a fashion designer and ensured I had the latest clothes, shoes, bags, and jewelry. It actually feels nice to be rich."
"You shouldn’t get used to it though."
"What do you mean?"
"You aren’t his mate. Men like Tristan only get attracted to girls like you for their innocence."
"Girls like me?"
Hailey sighed and said, "I’m not saying this to offend you, and whether you wish to believe this or not, he will break your heart."
"Who are you to decide that?"
"You both haven’t slept with each other, right?" Hailey asked, and the expression on Aria’s face gave her the answer. "That there is the proof that I am right. He is enjoying your innocence and making you fall for him, but the moment you give yourself to him, he will drop you."
Aria clenched her fist as her mind began to race. Is that why he didn’t want to sleep with her even after she had told him that she was ready? Will he discard her once he sleeps with her?
"It shouldn’t matter to you, Aria. Even though Alpha Milton is death, you should not forget the reason why you married Tristan—to find a cure for your grandmother, especially now when he is your only hope."
"I know that, and stop talking as if you know everything."
"If I knew everything, I would have found a way out of this loveless marriage. At least he has promised to set me free once he has gotten what he wants." Hailey said, turning gaze to her wedding dress on the bed.
"What does he want?"
"More power. Apparently he aims to bear the title of the strongest Alpha in the world, and he is pissed that a blind man owns that title."
"Is that why you wanted me to bring Tristan, for him to be mocked by your groom?"
"I asked you to bring Tristan because it is the only way for this marriage to take place, and thankfully you were able to convince him to come, and for that, thank you." Hailey sincerely said.
"He didn’t come," Aria said.
Hailey turned back her attention to Aria, her tone sharp as she asked, "What do you mean he didn’t come?"
"Trisran couldn’t make it, but he said he would try to make it before the end of the wedding." Aria lied.
Hailey’s eyes blazed with anger as she snapped, "Are you serious? You told me he was going to be here with you, and now you’re saying this!"
"Hailey, calm down. Am I not his wife? I haven’t come to this wedding as your friend but as my husband’s representative."
"If you were what was needed, then I wouldn’t have pleaded with you to bring Tristan."
"But you said it yourself; he will soon discard me. So why did you think a man like that would listen to me and attend your wedding? I am all you are going to get; it’s either you take it or leave it."
Hailey sighed and brushed her hand through her hair as she said, "Fine. It’s not like I have a choice, but if my wedding gets called off because of this, then it will be all your fault."
"No. If your wedding gets called off, Hailey, it will be because your groom wasn’t good enough in the first place."
Hailey scoffed and said, "You have changed. Is it the money?"
"A person who has almost been killed twice will definitely not be the same."
"What do you mean almost killed twice?"
Aria shook her head and said, "When I tried talking to you about this, you didn’t reply to any of my messages, so let’s forget it."
"Let’s not forget it." Hailey expression softened as she walked closer to Aria. "I know I’ve been a bitch to you recently..."
"Yes, you have."
Hailey chuckled. "But I still care about you. Being told one day that you are getting married to a man you have never met has made me angry, and I’m sorry I keep passing on all that frustration to you."
Aria smiled and held Hailey hand. "It’s alright. I know you are going through a stressful time. When my grandmother was ill, you were the one who was there for me, and if you hadn’t brought me to Milton then, I would never have met Tristan. Whenever I needed advice, you were always available, and I would like to be there for you too. You don’t need to shut me out, Hailey."
"I know, and I’m sorry."
Aria laughed softly, and they hugged.
While Aria was relieved to have reconciled with her friend, Hailey couldn’t help but worry. What would happen if Aria found out the truth—that she had known from the start about her grandmother being poisoned?
She couldn’t lose Aria as a friend, not right now, not when it is the only way to show her usefulness to Damien.
